I thought his blocking was bad to the point that he looked unplayable.

Penny wise, pound foolish.

If you want a long career in the NFL as an athletic undersized center, spend a couple years in Philly before you start chasing money.

Hold on, lemme get Roger on the phone so we can ask him...

Was our DEs even mentioned last game? Love Brandon Graham but maybe it’s passed the time to move on. He shouldn’t  have been brought back.

Given how big the guards are in LA, I get how McMahon can survive. But the Rams use a ton of gap runs and good luck doing that with him.

Prediction: Rams cut him at some point in the season when their OL gets healthier and he returns here.

Last year it seemed like Sunday night, which is usually the premiere time slot for the best game, had a lot of weak matchups. It started off with a good one week 1. But this Sunday is Bears/Texans... meh. Then Chiefs/Falcons... meh. Then two good matchups in a row. Then week 6 is Bengals/Giants. Thankfully a lot of the other weeks look better. Last year was one of the worst NFL seasons ever though. So many awful national games and then for the Eagles every other week was a rain game.

I think Bears/Texans will be good.

This is getting out of hand. Traffic stops aren’t worthy of this level of interaction but we see it more and more.  Assaukt someone for not listening to a cop to roll down your window immediately?  Being manhandled and cuffed?  Why?  You don’t cuss out a citizen like that much less cuff them.  Pretty obvious he called someone because he was being stopped.  You have that right. Being warned that the handcuffed prisoner had surgery on his knee and ignoring that and shoving a citizen down.   It’s a f@%#ing (to quote multiples of those officers) traffic stop not a bank robbery with an AK47.

Then acting like that to an observer with nothing more than a phone.  It’s not easy being a cop but the behavior of some is embarrassing.   Imagine if you behaved like that at your job.  They all deserve discipline and training on what is and is not acceptable.

For close to two decades in elected office, I shared oversight of a police department with other elected and appointed officials. We would have been in hearings with the police union over that and probably would have prevailed in a firing.  At the very least a suspension and anger management classes. The citizens were all being relatively polite.   Nothing they did violates PA criminal law.  Who knows in FL?

The NFLPA takes a very active interest in player contracts for obvious reasons.  They're all for players getting deals that drive the market up, and will pressure players not to sign deals that can reset the market downward.  There's no way Purdy is signing anything much below the current QB market rate.

He'll be close to $50M AAV, if not over.

His deal will be more than Dak's. The AAV may not be as high but I would guess the guaranteed money will be higher.

Not defending how the police treated him in the video, but there's still a beginning part of the interaction we haven't seen. If the reports are true that he was going 105 in a 45, I can understand the police being frustrated with him if he's not cooperating. Driving that reckless and potentially putting others lives at risk, copping an attitude and finally not cooperating is just a recipe for a potential situation.

They definitely didn't have to rip him out of the car like that or treat him the way they did but also, don't drive like an ass and just do what you're asked. Rolling the window down when asked is not difficult and posed no threat to him. Stupid all around.

Well there you go. They estimated him going 60MPH which is probably overstated

The NFL hasn't had a single "artist" that makes me think "football." I find the halftime shows insulting to football fans because they are trying to sell a completely different product to viewers who couldn't even tell you what a third down is.

I think some of the best NFL films productions combine music and highlights, so I'm not against music at games, but the best, most relevant form of football music is marching bands:

Oilers used to have TSU (Texas Southern University, a HBCU) Ocean of Soul marching band at half time.  Would much rather see this that clips of songs at the Superbowl.

Thanks for sharing and showing the correct information that I wasn't sure of.

I'm pretty confident in playing the Falcons, although I don't think they can be taken lightly, their defense has a chance to be good. But that Saints game has me a little nervous. That game is textbook "Eagles can be good, but that game is a bad spot, team looks good going into the game, and this is the season's first major reality check." The Eagles always struggle in that stadium and Carr seems to either suck or be good, no in between. If you get the good Carr it could be a tough one.

I think that's the type of game where if they lose I won't be surprised, but if they win it's like that's a special win. On paper the Saints aren't great, but every special season has one of those games where it looks like a trap game and your team just goes in there and takes care of business. Winning that game would be the point where I start to feel really good about this season.

But is Moore really going to ignore Dotson because Moore calls more plays than Hurts and those plays have designated progressions.   Plays are designed to maximize who is likely to be open. I was surprised to see Dotson get 32 snaps with just a couple of weeks with the team.  Hurts needs to learn Dotson and so does Moore and Nick.  Dotson needs more time understanding what is expected on given plays and both he and Hurts need practice together to be familiar with what each can expect from the other. Dotson (and Calcaterra and Covey give the Eagles more ability to spread the ball around and just like Gainwell will see touches every game, we should expect the same for them.

Watched thr All22.  Calcaterra blocks better than Ertz ever did.  Interesting, with the game on the line, they sat Dotson and put Covey in.  Covey was displaying his inner Devonta Smith and taking his blocking seriously.  Don’t know if Wilson can run routes to be open but he is awesome blocking in the open field.  Dotson probably needs to work on his blocking for this scheme but he was getting open, especially on motion plays. Ran a lot outside.  So we’re Grant and Britain open on motion plays and they will get more touches. We have only seen the beginnings of this offense.  Green Bay is hard to run on but Barkley slipped several times before they changed cleats.

Bechton is fun to watch. Plays a little high at times but it doesn’t seem to matter because he doesn’t move.  But when asked to move someone, he does.  Jurgens struggled one on one with Slaton but he is a big man.  Slaton didn’t have a chance on double teams though.   Hurts needs to stop running right from solid pockets.  The OL is giving him clean pockets for the most part.  Fred Johnson is the new #6 OL   Man is a mountain.  Really has improved his game.

On STs, Ringo will block a kick this year. He is so fast off the edge.  Curious as to @FranklinFldEBUpper’s take on the teams.  I thought Gainwell was foolish on taking it out of the end zone but I saw that a few times on Sunday.  I think the kickoff with blockers engaged between the thirty and forty is misleading to the returner.  It really isn’t as open as it seems.  Thought Mann got better height and hang time without sacrificing distance.  VanSumeren and McCollum are the protection against fakes.  That’s some speed and size.  Saw DeJean in there once.  Thought the one play where the Packers did kick it shorter was interesting.  If a touchback it goes to the twenty if it bounces into the end zone.  Think we’ll see more concentration on trying that as teams figure this out but touchbacks kicked into or through the end zone will remain the rule.

The defense was a little vanilla at times.  They are still adjusting and getting familiar.  DeJean looked good on his few snaps.  Mitchell got tested and got better as the game went on.  CJGJ doesn’t deserve the flack.  He played well except for some missed tackles.  Dean is so inconsistent.  Awesome play followed by brain farts.  Baun was a beast but missed a few tackles.  Davis and Carter are a force but they faded a bit.  Nolan Smith actually played better than I thought.  Graham is still a force.  Huff was invisible.  One could watch the film and conclude Love missed seeing open players in the holes in the zone at times until one sees the pressure and where the read was.  Work in progress but a lot of promise.  More variation in the coverage than I expected.  That one touchdown seemed to be a missed communication between DeJean and Dean. Green Bay has a solid offense and a stout defense.

Goodell deserves some blame.  Calling the Eagles the home team was a joke from the start with Green Bay wearing the country’s colors.  Had to know that.  After the Superbowl field issue to demonstrate the NFL to South America with such a slick field is an embarrassment.  Should fire Roger right now as that was the last straw (okay, in honesty Roger hit @BigEFly’s last straw about a decade ago).  Time for Troy Vincent to take the reins.

Peacock is part of the NBC family.  That pregame, and halftime were atrociously awful. Calling it bad would be an insult to the word bad.  That said, I thought the college announcer team was better than the slop I muted last night. And speaking of slop, boy did Fox get hoodwinked by Brady.  That was pretty sad. Bring back Olson as the #1 commentator.

If Brady becomes a minority owner of the Raiders and becomes limited on what he can say, how will Fox handle that?

If it was me, I would just drive sensibly and not get pulled over, but what do I know?

There was a video on the 21 package that utilized Shipley and Barkley on the field at the same time, with Shipley motioning.

Everyone commented on the play design where Shipley leaked out in to the flat, and it opened a nice space for an easy completion to Smith. But Shipley had a total of 4 snaps and each of them were very effective.

Im excited for that to grow.

I like it too. What I like most is that Moore is looking for ways to get mismatches and stretch a defense.

Always has a line that makes me chuckle out loud.

The vast number of police interactions are peaceful.  They also do have to deal with situations that may turn suddenly violent.  It's a complex problem.  I do think there's too much training that is fear based.  It serves to raise their anxiety levels going into situations that could be de-escelated.  I think there's is a culture, in some places, that frowns on de-escalation.  The bigger part of the problem is that to become a police officer you need little to no training.

I'll say this again, the biggest problem police have is growing up with police shows.

Creates the delusion that police work is inherently dangerous (garage men have a higher on job fatality rate) and that it's normal to fire your gun.

Plus, many police shows glorify improper behavior (Chicago P.D. etc.) which subconsciously leads young policemen to think this is normal.

Add to that police unions more interested in protecting miscreants than helping to clean up police forces and protect good cops (police brutality increases crime and danger to police by discouraging neighborhood cooperation, when the police act like an occupying army, residents tend to shun them) and it's not surprising that misbehavior by police is so common.

An additional factor is that many police tend to be white working class, often from rural areas, who migrate to urban areas for the jobs/salary but don't understand black urban culture so they overreact to what they perceive are threats.
