Sunday morning Predictions Update

58 predictions recorded ... and they continued to be all for an Eagles win until one recalcitrant/pessimistic soul changed his prediction of an Eagles win to an Eagles loss.  Average predicted score continues to be Eagles 33 Falcons 18.

As always, please tag your prediction post with @mattwill that way I will be sure to see/record it.  Score predictions can also have an optional "Bonus Pick" tiebreaker prediction.

A list of the 58 predictions is presented below, sorted alphabetically by the name of the predictor.  If you don't see your name there, then I haven't yet recorded a prediction for you.

So we can agree, watching Maddox last week....he was just getting beat left and right.  I'm hoping that Cooper is close to ready.  A defensive backfield with Mitchell and Slay at the outside, Blankenship and CJGJ at safety and bringing Cooper in for Nickel and either Ringo or Rodgers in for Dime seems to me a very very strong backfield.  Keep Maddox around as a back up for insurance.

Now with AJ...the question is....do we play him and risk further injury?  I'd love to sit him and let him get healthy but EVERY game matters in the NFL.....

I think they sit him but it removes a major threat from our offence. Let’s hope he’s ok.

It would give us more of a look at Dotson though, but I think they lean on smitty, goedert and saquon as a receiver.

imagine Shipley and gainwell would get some more snaps too.

Like to see Dotson getting more looks in a game.  The top receivers will get majority of looks anyway.  Hurts does not go through the progression well and the 3rd WR is a forgotten player running on the field.  AJ sit will give Dotcon a chance to be a target.  One of the purpose Dotson is signed is to be ready if the top WR can't play.  This is the chance for that.  Also, we need to know he could fill that role earlier the better.

He will be the best QB in the league once day.  I've been following him since he was a freshman in High School.

He made an amazing throw, running to his left, didn't even set his feet, threw a 30 yard pass that was perfectly placed.

He'll probably stay 2 more years, maybe 3, he's getting counseled about the "50 game rule."  Since he's likely to be the first pick when he comes out, perfecting his game before going to the pros will help him survive on a bad team - Uncle Peyton knows all about that!

Not to mention the financial benefits of leaving early aren't nearly as tempting as it used to be now that the NCAA has allowed the NIL deals.   He'll definitely be taken care of and won't have to worry about the monetary side as much.

AJ can still play and not necessarily play 60+ snaps. You can put him on a pitch count.

What is the science behind that? How many snaps until your mild grade 1 hamstring pops and becomes a grade 3? Whatever that number is, I guess they should stop 1 snap short. Good idea.

I understand using him as a decoy for the Falcons to be aware of him and not just take for granted that he's not 100%... and using him limited in a decoy role.  (His effectiveness as a decoy diminishes with each snap he plays.  So it might only be effective for the first quarter or so.).  But, if they are so worried about him that they need to change how they use him... or how much, then maybe they should shelf him for the game.

That said, it sounded much more like it was just them being overly protective than anything else.   And sitting him in practice gives Dotson more reps in practice.   Win win.

In your scenario, he's not healthy enough to play at all so yes he should sit.

But if he feels ok, but not great, you can limit the risk by not having him out there to run clear outs on 1st and 10.

Well, he has a grade 1 hamstring strain in real life. Thats his "tightness". So are you saying he cant play at all or he should be on a pitch count?

@mattwill

Eagles - 30

Falcons - 13

Dotson gets a TD

He knows his body better than we do. If he feels he can play, play him. If he doesn't, sit him.

Either way, need to get Dotson ready to go.

I was reading up on grade 1 hamstring strains (if that’s what it is) and they basically say they can heal in a few days with proper treatment.   Basically depends on level of pain - so I’m guessing if he’s still in pain - they may rest him? - if not, he’ll play, no?

Ive been thinking he probably plays.

But you also cant count on the eagles being truthful with that information.

Siri saying it just tightened up on him may be a lie for competitive advantage. Remember our day to day players who end up missing a month. I think that was common under Pederson, but the lack of transparency is the same, if not worse, under Siri. So.. we really dont know.

But yeah if it was really just tightness/ a grade 1 strain, I think they can have him ready to go on Monday night.

-McCaffrey expected to miss 6 weeks or possibly more with injury.

-Fields may be named permanent starter if Steelers win this week.

-AJ Brown playing tomorrow legitimately up in the air.

-Nakua could miss up to 7 weeks.

-Love looking to return week 5.

If it's a remotely close decision, AJ Brown should not play.

The only reasonable path to a super bowl is a healthy AJ Brown.

I think if it's still tight tomorrow they'll sit him. Then he'll have like 9 days of rest til the Saints.

Week 2 of a 17 week season tells me, sit him, get him healthy.....if this were the Super Bowl and all hands on deck, he'd play.  Especially, you are playing the Falcons.  I know, any given Sunday (or Monday)....but they are not playing San Francisco or Dallas or even the Rams.  They should still curb stomp the Falcons with Barkley, Smith, Goedert, Dotson our Offensive Line, etc....

@mattwill

Eagles 38

Falcons 14

Atlanta* is sacked 6+ times

I’m guessing if they bring Campbell up, good chance AJ sits - or at least lets them wait until Gametime to make the call - with Campbell being there if needed.

Might depend on who has the no1 pick…
