White got first-team reps all camp. I don't understand where this drama is coming from. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume he's actually hurt and there's no need for him to travel internationally when he can stay close to the facility to continue to get treatment/rehab so he's ready for week 2.

Plausible, but that doesn't change the fact that he's extremely limited as a LB in this defense.

Plus we saw this song and dance before from him

Initially it was reported that the reason he was inactive wasn’t injury-related, something that Todd Bowles contradicted after the game. The way he answered the question about White’s status was confusing, and it almost sounded like he was throwing the linebacker under the bus for essentially calling in sick to work at the last minute.

As it turns out, White has been wearing coaches and teammates thin with his attitude recently. Bucs insider Rick Stroud dropped a bomb after the game, reporting that White was being benched in favor of Britt regardless of whether he was active or not.

It's basically the same story all over again. He wants playing time and a monster contract. He doesn't get his way his attitude starts showing. It's not a stretch at all that he found out Dean was starting over him and suddenly he "couldn't go".

Rodgers got most first teams reps in camp too and it appears Mitchell will start on the outside.

If I had to guess I'd say the TC stuff was either a Howie mandate "I signed this guy, you need to give him a chance to earn the job or I look bad" or it's Fangio going "My eyes tell me this other guy is better, so I'm going to give the lesser player a chance to beat out the guy I think is better."

What will be even more interesting is if Jalyx Hunt is active and Nolan Smith isn't on Friday. If that happens, sound the alarms.

@mattwill Eagles 34, Packers 20

Bonus: 1st Eagles sack of the season goes to...Jordan Davis.

I'm guessing nostalgia. Wawa's hoagies aren't anything special, but if I'm in Florida, I'm stopping to get one. The same goes for Tastykakes since they were bought, and the quality went down. I saw a tractor-trailer with Tastykakes on the side of it at a Safeway in Estes Park, and the next thing I knew, I was buying their crappy donuts.

My son and I drove down to Florida this summer.  We stopped at Bucees on the way down and Wawa on the way back up.  Wawa's subs are better than most anything you can get in NC.  Bucees is overrated.  Their brisket was mediocre and the sauce was subpar. Tastykakes aren't as good as they once were but they're still a ton better than any other snack cake.

The Eagles don't need a beef in security, they have Dom. By the time the game is over Friday night, Big Dom is gonna run all the cartels down there.

If you get away from Tastykakes for a while and then try one the fake artificial flavor really stands out. All store bought cakes have that to varying degrees, but in terms of quality, Entenmann's crushes them.

I have to disagree.  Entenmann's donut's chocolate coating might as well be wax.

I mean he probably already does.

Eagles 13-4, win the division, loses a nail biter in the NFCCG.

Welp - a nail biter is better than a pillow one.

It's definitely not real chocolate or 100% chocolate, it doesn't even melt lol. But their cakes are decent and their chocolate chip cookies are decent. They have limited time stuff that's pretty good. But Tastykake's coating on their candy cakes uses the same type of waxy "chocolate coating" that Entenmann's does. It probably keeps it from expiring too quickly would be my guess.

The Boston cream honey bun is decent, but has a strange aftertaste I can't explain. It's like my body is rejecting the chemicals.

So, here's my attempt at an objective look at where we stand vs. the 2023 team.

QB: Obviously, this is based off limited videos and reports from camp, but Hurts just looks better and healthier. All year last year he seemed to be playing hurt and not have his top end acceleration and speed. His YPC dropped below 4, and he simply wasn't nearly the dynamic threat with his legs. Seeing that video of him racing Goedert -- he looks like 2022 Hurts again health wise. Of all the issues we talked about last year, the lack of big off schedule plays was a huge difference from 2022 -- think about the TD rush against the Vikings in 2022. Moreover, Hurts main issue last year was the turnovers -- 19 total turnovers vs. 6 in 2022. I think Hurts gets back to closer to the 2022 form, so we should be nicely improved. SOLID UPGRADE

RB: Deandre Swift is a nice back, but he's no Barkley. I wasn't the biggest fan of giving Barkley that contract, but he's here and he should be a massive upgrade. I look at what happened to Sanders when he left Philly -- without our line and the threat of Hurts' legs, he was a waste in Carolina. Barkley was running behind the worst line in the league with no other weapons on offense. If he stays healthy, the YPC could be very high. LARGE UPGRADE

WR/TE: The only real change here is Dotson for Quez/Zaccheus. AJ, Smitty, Goedert, Calcaterra and Stoll are all back. SMALL UPGRADE

OL: Here's the first potential downgrade. I think Jurgens will be a quality center, but he won't be an all-pro this year. The question to me is RG -- I could see Becton being a lot better than Jurgens (undersized for guard), but it's a projection. I do think Mailata and Dickerson continue to get better, while Lane continues to age. SMALL DOWNGRADE

DT: This will be really interesting. Losing Cox is a blow, but I expect Carter/Davis/Williams/Ojomo to all improve as young players. I really think JC has a chance to be an all-pro caliber guy this year. Still, being honest -- DOWNGRADE

DE/Edge: I wouldn't have given Reddick the contract he seemingly wants, so bringing in Huff to replace him is probably the best we could do. The advanced stats all look good, but need to see him produce -- it's a downgrade for now. Sweat is hopefully better, and the wildcard here is Nolan. DOWNGRADE

LB: Yes, the bar is VERY low. STUPID low. But we are better here with Dean, Baun, Burks and White as opposed to Morrow (who somehow might be starting in Buffalo), Cunningham (unsigned) and Leonard (unsigned). BVS should be better than last year, and Trotter Jr. flashed some in camp/preseason. They still aren't good, but...LARGE UPGRADE

CB: This is where I think we are lightyears better than last year. Slay wasn't healthy, Bradberry was trash, Maddox wasn't healthy, and we were running Bradley Roby out there FFS. Slay, Rodgers and Q is a massive upgrade over Slay, Bradberry and Roby. Add in having Ringo and DeJean on the bench (Ricks is back as well), and Maddox and CJGJ who can play the slot if needed. MASSIVE UPGRADE

S: CJGJ is simply better than Terrell Edmunds/Kevin Byard. I think he's overrated because of the picks in 2022, but he's a clear upgrade. I'd feel better if Brown were healthy, but still UPGRADE

So 6 units upgraded, most notably the CBs. 3 are downgraded, all along the lines where we are counting on younger players. It feels like Howie finally decided to switch up his philosophy a little and not focus exclusively on the trenches. All in all, I am optimistic going into the season.

Spot on assessment in my opinion.
