Wut?

@bpac55 doesn't like swear words.  Also Nick Sirianni, has no idea what a complete team win means.

One guy who is playing way above expectations is BG. He might not be able to keep it up at his age but he’s been great so far.

He just continues to impact games and it’s awesome to see. I really wish Fletch hung on for another year because the two of them still would have been impact players on this team. You can make the argument that BG is the best pass rusher on the team and as cool as that is for him, it’s terrible for the state of the position on the team.

I'd like to see Jalyx Hunt play a bit. He can't be worse than Huff - he has the physical attributes to set the edge and even if he's terrible rushing the passer he'll be an improvement. Can't have Graham playing 60-something % of the snaps either.

F that.

100%. Said that to my son yesterday...BG at 36 is stepping up way more than he should have to in his swan song season. I feel like they have to at least try and get an EDGE in here. Just need to see what teams are completely out of it at 0-5 or 1-4 after the bye week and start working the phones.

That had to be one of the sweetest Eagles regular season victories in years. That's a BIG FAT L any other year!

So much to be excited about here. Considering last year's collapse. Team is a work in progress, but need to see the forest between the trees. Psyched about this current squad with improvements made thus far and just correcting many of past year(s) issues with this team.

1. Ability to make in game adjustments by both of our new coordinators. More unpredictable and quite effective. See this trait only getting better.

2. Red Zone Defense.  Much much improved.

3. Ability to play without key guys, like AJ Brown and Lane Johnson in particular. Automatic loss in previous  years. Much better quality depth on this roster at previously thin positions.

4. Linebacker play. Head and shoulders better from previous years.

5. Hurts throwing down the middle to tight end and wide receivers.

6. Hurts reading the blitz and finding the hot read. Still not perfect, but much better. Credit to OC Moore on this as well.

7. Team is more athletic, younger and has the swag and fight that last years team of quitters lacked. Kind of knew that, with adding CJG, Barkley and some of these stud draft picks, that we could ascent in that department.

8. Howie nailed it with Barkley.  What a beast?! Who knew this would be a huge upgrade over Swift, who was solid. Can ride him any game you want, when things aren't working. What a luxury to add this facet to the current group of offensive talent.

I see this being a championship roster with more experience playing together and barring any serious injuries. Only caveats: Sirianni has to get out of his own way and Hurts needs to protect ball better.

Monday Morning Predictions Thread update

Well there is a bit more joy in Mudville, so I'll start the Predictions thread now.  Still plenty of improvement needed, but I had the Eagles at 2-1 at this point in my preseason season record prediction thinking ... it was just a win against the Falcons and a road loss to the Saints.

I don't want to even think about the Cowboys or 49ers losses.  We need to take care of our own business!  /rant

We have a normal number of days leading up to this Week Four contest with the Bucs,  As always, please tag your prediction post with @mattwill that way I will be sure to see/record it.  Score predictions can also have an optional "Bonus Pick" tiebreaker prediction.  I will be taking predictions right up to Kickoff.

For those of you who may have missed it the results for Week Three can be read by clicking on the link below

Week Two results are at this next link

And Week One results are seen here

You trust Howie with that?

Did Derrick Barnett get a suspension from that play against the Packers in 2019 on what was exactly the same play that happened yesterday with DeVonta?

sorry if mentioned already, not sifting through pages of the blog.

Remember this post when everyone is healthy and the QB is still holding it back. Because people will be blaming scheme, and WRs not getting open.

Welp, kind of have to.

Love the optimism here. I think Sirianni needs to relax a little bit and take the points when they are there. I feel like he tries to give a message when he's so aggressive on 4th down, and sometimes that's OK, but you've played 2 really good defenses in a row, kick the field goal and try to avoid a 4th down next drive.

You can blame the o-line for that but it looks to me to be a dumb play call too.  The LT chips the DE who I am guessing should be  unblocked because he's likely the key to read.  The LT cannot get to the LB because the LB is immediately chasing the RB and crashing down.  That seems like a very difficult block to make and the entire play is riding on that block.  The play is over once he misses that block.  Also because the space is so condensed, the C cannot get to the LB and gets knocked over.  The NT gets penetration before the RG can get to him.  It just seems like a dumb call.  Not to mention, Braxton Jones, the starting LT had left the game at that point and the team was relying on Matt Pryor to make that key block.

Cross your fingers Watson is still starting when the Eagles play the Browns, he's the worst QB in the NFL.

They should have likely had at least 12 more points if Jalen doesn't turn the ball over and Sirianni had any sense.

I’ll give him that but Smith is on a path to disappointing first round pick. He needs to start generating some consistent pressure in October. If he doesn’t then I’d have to say he goes on the "real risk he never gets there” list.

Maybe, I think we have some time - I'm looking for a  Kyle Van Noy trajectory.

Rewatching the game… that Goedert catch and run was pretty open regardless of the three-Saint pileup. He obviously wouldn’t have gone for 60 yards or whatever, but I think it’s a good chunk gain and a first down.

No one will have to remember it because you’ll be here saying it I’m sure.

Have we had an OL with that much follow through since Runyan? Even Peters, was looking for the next guy to knock down rather than just jumping on top of the guy he already leveled.

Right will, but no one will WANT to remember it and theyll just be calling me a troll.

Should the Eagles trade Hurts for Bryce Young?
