Again, I don’t see why anyone cares.  Whether the Eagles QB scores a TD or their RB does, all I care is that the TD is scored.  Sometimes the things that people complain about are just silly

I agree.  It would be cool to have Barkley or some other guys get TDs but who cares?  It's 6 points and that's all that matters.

I don't get the shove play dislike either.  Majority of the time it results in a 1st or TD.

I wonder how much Howie and Lurie have soured on Hurts since the beginning of last year. Virtually all x's and o's guys have come out saying Hurts is not playing well and the dumbing down of the offense is probably on him. I'd imagine they can't be happy having a QB who needs his offense nerfed for him.

They've booked the church, said their vows, and paid Hurts the rent.

They're likely telling Nick and Kellen to get as much blood out of the stone as possible.  I wouldn't "dumb down the offense" for him; the NFL is a meritocracy and Hurts is accountable for mastering and running the offense as-is; that's why he gets paid the biggest bucks.

Never heard of them

Hurts keeps them to himself.

Don't know if refs get penalized but this one should

Yeah, They do get evaluated by the league for incorrect and missed calls. Officials or officiating crews - not sure which - are rated for missed or incorrect calls. Officiating teams or officials that rank lower don't work higher profile games and may even no longer be an NFL on-field official if they make too many mistakes. The results of those evaluations are not made public. I don't remember where I read that but it seemed like a plausible source.

EDIT: This reply doesn't go with this post. Not sure what I did wrong. It should have been in reply to a post about officials should be checked.

Lurie likely not happy because he finally has the offense he's always wanted built. He'll never say it publicly though

I know the 'good' ones get to ref the SB but I don't think I've heard about any punishments for screwing up. I know they're pretty tight lipped about any criticisms towards the refs though

I've never anything beyond that one article and I doubt I could find it again. But as you say, they're pretty tight lipped about anything that would cause a lack of confidence in game officiating. It's probably more an issue with the $$$$ legal gambling.

Officials because once playoffs start the crews are shuffled to new crews and as you said, anyone with a bad grade doesn't work the playoff games.

Looking at the schedule (and you never know what injuries are going to happen) but IF the Eagles win this weekend, I see a path to 12-5, if they loose....I could still see 11-6.  That's with splitting games with both Dallas and Washington and needing to split with the Ravens and Rams.

Ah, I didn't know the crews were rejiggered after the regular season. Thanks.

Consider the 4th and 3 TD to Brown as an example.  If that is 4th and 1 and they line up for the shove do they get that TD?

The shove is fine at the goalline, where 1 yard is all that it is needed for 6 points.  But, outside of that, it is a limiting play.  It limits the result to only a yard, maybe a yard and a half, which does provide more downs, but it doesn't provide you with a big play opportunity.  By going to that, with no real wrinkle off of it, the upside is always just a yard and a half.  Whereas, if they ran a more conventional sneak, they'd have basically the same hit rate AND they would be able to run more wrinkles in an effort for a bigger play.  It's short sighted success, and sort of forces them to take the long methodical drives to score.  In the NFL, points generally come off of big plays and/or chunk plays.  Which is the entire premise behind Fangio's system.  Limiting the opposition from getting yards in big chunks and you limit their scoring potential.

At least clean those things. You can see smears of sheet the last time you used them on @olsilverhair

Unless he plays about 100% of the snaps and averages a sack per game, yes.

But the Jets should be a dumpster fire next year so maybe it will be a high 3 in 2026.

If he stays with the Jets, yes, that is very likely.  But the trade deadline has not happened yet and I have not heard anything about a new long-term deal with Reddick/New York.

3 of their 4 wins have been against bad teams. Only one of those three was convincing. The best team we played absolutely blew our doors off.

Let's see how we do, but our schedule is pretty easy so you might be right

Oh...I agree, in the NFC thread I said the 12-5/11-6 thing but also added, I can see an equal path to 10-7/9-8.

This will be an interesting test this Sunday.  The Eagles should be the better team, but if they start slow again it might be tough to keep pace with Burrow.  Slay and Quinyon Mitchell should match up well against Chase and Higgins -- if the Bengals move Chase to the slot then that could cause a lot of problems.

Bengals defense has not been good so far, and their wins are against CAR, NYG, and CLE.  They also lost to NE, and seem to play much better against good teams as they've lost close games to KC and BAL.  This is a road game where the Eagles need to control the ball on the ground -- 20 carries for Barkley and another 6-8 for Gainwell (Shipley).

Hurts already burned me once when I talked massive ish on him in 2021, so let's see if he rounds into form and gets on the same page with Kellen Moore.

Two games in a row with no turnovers is a start.

6ers just inserted Bona for the first time.

The X’s and O’s guys don’t know what they’re talking about though. According to @jsb235, everyone who doubts Hurts lacks self awareness because he has barely been average.

Must have been a tight spot.
