Along with finding all of the dummy mines they deployed for us to hunt, we found two live mines from WW2. I got to see EOD detonate one of them. Even from the safe distance we were at, it was scary and impressive. I also served with a dude who was on the Tripoli when they hit a mine during the Gulf war. Relatively cheap and easy to deploy, and like you said, they raise the pucker factor by a million.
