He won the 2024 election because of a failed assassination attempt. Trump being killed by Iran would make him a martyr (even though the U.S. already killed Iran's leader).

Not so sure about that. It kind of depends on the eventual outcome. Right now Iran is heavily damaged but in a far better strategic position in the region than before the war and the US/Israel relations are severely strained.

What is our actual manufacturing capacity to replenish all this armament?

We sent a lot of stocks to Ukraine, which I fully supported and continue to support, but this has to come with a legitimate rearmament process to ensure we have sufficient stock.

That may look different .. 100 drones are probably cheaper than one cruise missile .. but whatever it looks like it has to happen. And I have little faith that the decision making on how we rearm won't be political.

Short answer, a long time.

Most of the stuff we were sending to Ukraine was arty rounds, AT weapons, write off vehicles, and anti-air systems. Outside of the latter, it's stuff that we didn't even notice was going out the door, especially since we ramped up arty production to meet Ukraine's demand, not ours.

Some of the stuff we lost is completely irreplacable (AWACS) until the E-7 wedgetail starts getting delivered, and even that got Fd around because they were trying to shed the E-7 in favor of getting more E-2's to fill the gap, which it wouldn't have done as good a job. Then you factor in the Tomahawks and Patriot missiles, which take a long time to replenish.

Seeing what was happening in Ukraine, the play would be to get a bunch of Gepard type systems as a low cost alternative to shooting a Patriot missile at a truck-bed sized RC plane. And dispersion, which we weren't going, im assuming because leadership has been more concerned with getting rid of beard chits and letting army aviation do whatever it wants when it comes to PR stunts, than important woke functions like spreading out your assets so that they're not so easily hit.
