Well, I'm glad the mentally ill here are still crazy. Makes sense why you all sympathize with Lane so much. Mental illness is close to home.

No I sympathize because I am decent human being while you’re an absolute POS. As another said on here ANYONE can quit a job and retire at any time they see fit especially when they have family annd/or mental health issues.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the guy who regularly flexes on "walking, but outside!" is not particularly threatening. Call it a hunch.

See, that's the mental illness of CVON right there. How did hiking ever come up? Someone was saying how depressed and upset I'd be on election day and I mentioned I wouldn't even be watching it because I was going on a family vacation to hike through Zion. To weak or crazy people that's a flex. Same with golf. Now probably this after one of you actually flexes. One of you brings it up and then the crazy circle jerk of loons jumps in.

Yeah, and a fan can say that's a BS move. When you sign a contract you fulfill it. Again, soft and weak folks will get triggered. Oh well. Like most things up is down and left is right with you all.

You don’t get it. The guy has issues. Sure, gut it out, Lane. Who gives a damn if you do something to harm yourself. Like I said GFYS. Maybe work on yourself. You need more help than Lane.

And you don't know anything about my history. Boxing only works standing up. Gone up against quite a few and they all tapped faster than any other style. Congrats on being good though. Nice of you to drop that in.

you call me soft and weak, I’m allowed to respond to that and provide counter evidence, right?

Not sure what your "boxing only works standing up” point has to do with what I said. My apologies if my point wasn’t clear, I’ll explain it differently. Had absolutely nothing to do with comparing fighting styles.

The amount of work I had put in and the amount of sacrifice I had to make. The amount of pain I had to push through. The willpower I had to have to do what was necessary to get to the level I was at, you can’t be soft and weak and achieve that.

Drama drama drama. That was the only way. Don't do it when it's the offseason. If it's to the point of hurting himself don't come back after taking days off in camp regardless of the Eagles trying. Don't do it the day of the game. There are other options.

Again, why does it trigger some of you for me to say I like him but that move is BS. Why? Why does that piss you people off to no end? How weak and soft are you all? Since when is bailing on a major commitment considered perfectly fine and saying otherwise bashing him? Proof some of you are losing your way in the world. Again, he had all offseason, all camp, and all week. He quit. But some of you are so soft you can't even hear that without being triggered. Oh well. I like him. That was bull. There is a right way of doing something and that isn't it.

A lot of ‘weak’ and ‘soft’ talk for a guy that won’t track down Lane Johnson and tell him he’s a quitter directly to his face.

Yes idiot, when you say stupid shìt on the internet people tend to mock you for it lol. First day?

And you making anyone, let alone a high end collegiate boxer "tap out" is about as believable as Procus being a lawyer and Trump stimmy checks coming in the mail.

Absolutely. Boxers are tough. Any of the arts are a ton of sacrifice and pain.

Do you think professional athletes are immune to mental health crises? Do you think the family members of professional athletes are immune to illness? You keep saying that he chose the wrong time to do it as if it’s not possible for someone to be in a good mental health state at one point in time but then weeks later have that change.

Boxing is great if they get a shot in. It doesn't work at all on the ground. Amazing discipline and dedication to reach his level though. Now in a stand up fight with hands alone that's their world. He should be proud of what he did.

That is true. However, this has been ongoing. Should he be totally bashed for it? No and I haven't. Should be totally absolved for it? No. As for your accomplishments I have respect for them. You aren't soft if you did that.

Right. It has been ongoing. For years. And he’s been dealing with it successfully and been able to compete, for years, and be one of the best offensive linemen in the league despite his mental health issues.

So, what’s so bad about going: "well let’s see. Lane Johnson is one of the best linemen to ever play the game. He clearly loves the game of football. He loves it so much that even though he’s had mental health issues for years, he’s worked through it and continued to play. And we also know that his mother is very ill. So, for him to up and decide to retire in the middle of the season, maybe something has taken a turn for the worse and he has to focus on that now. And we don’t know what it is and frankly it’s none of our business. But we can give a guy who has done what Lane has done through his career the benefit of the doubt and say, ‘he’s played through countless injuries, he’s played through mental health issues, he’s played his mom getting cancer. So maybe there’s a reason for why now he has to stop playing football and tend to something else’

Having that mindset doesn’t make a person soft or weak. It doesn’t reflect a ‘pussified’ society. It means that we don’t know what is going on in other people’s lives but we can empathize with someone and give someone who has made a sh-t ton of sacrifices in their 14 year career to play this game that if there’s something going on now that has caused them to retire in the middle of the season, that maybe there’s a good reason for it.

I don't think Lane is. I think people who say you can't say that was a BS move and move on are. I haven't said he's weak or that I hate him for it. I said what I said that doesn't need to be repeated. Again, this was ongoing and he had many opportunities to do it in a better way. If he walked in camp before cuts that's fine. I wish him well. I just don't respect that decision.

Thank you, and sorry I shouldn’t have said you couldn’t have lasted a week trying to live the way I lived. Shouldn’t be making assumptions.

You might be right. Boxers do some crazy crap like carrying trees in Russia.

Right but we have no idea what is going on In his life right now. Maybe in camp he was in a good spot, but something has happened this week that put him in a tailspin. Maybe his mother has taken a turn for the worse and he wants to spend as much time with her as possible. None of us know.

So my point is, for a guy like Lane who has played as long as he’s played and sacrificed and played through as much stuff as he’s played through, for him to stop now in the middle of the season, I think he should be given the benefit of the doubt that whatever it is that’s going on, there’s a good reason why this time, it’s too much and he has to put whatever it is first over football

The guy who's definitely not at all triggered and clearly very mentally strong and stable proceeded to make 95 posts on the topic of the appropriate time for an adult to retire from his job. I wonder if there's an underlying reason for that sort of behavior. Hmm...

You must be a woman. Nobody invests that kind of time keeping track of what another person does if they aren't a pissed off female.

His post count went up 95....creepy lurker alert

Don’t know if any other retiree posted, but I got $90 posted to my account earlier this week. Guess my vote is bought. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

If you've ever been a real adult with real responsibilities, you'd know that there are times when you have conflicting commitments that require tradeoffs.

There are moments you can't meet every commitment, and you have to prioritize and make a decision.

For a long time Lane has chosen the Eagles. But he's now at a place where the priority has to shift to family because his situation has changed.

He clearly wanted to try and stay committed to the birds. But life had other plans.

If your life is so simple that you have no real adult responsibilities and commitments that conflict between work, family, friends, health, etc, then you're living a child's life.

Guys we’ve gotten off topic. Let’s get back to the more important facts. Trump fkkkd kids and these cucks voted for it.

While true, what's really important is that a man "sticks to his word and honors his commitments" so at least he hasn't lied or not followed through on any campaign promises!

Being a grown man is also about keeping your word and honoring the commitments you make. Yep saying it again.

Nobody is saying family isn’t important, but you don’t just bail on your team in the middle of a season when people are counting on you. Life gets complicated for everyone, but part of being a man is finding a way to handle your responsibilities without walking away from a commitment you made.

Being an adult isn’t just about choosing your family when things get hard it’s also about understanding that your choices impact other people. He made a commitment to his teammates, coaches, and organization, and they built their plans around having him there. People were cut based on his choice.

Everyone has family, work, health, and personal responsibilities that conflict. The difference is that a man honors his word. Family should be a priority, but that doesn’t make walking away from a commitment and leaving others hanging the right thing to do. You can like the person and think that choice was BS. I also get why others feel differently.
