Funny, I haven't heard Herbstreit suggest even once that Oregon doesn't belong in this game, even though they sure look like they have no business being in this game.

Its interesting that PSU played them both to a 1 score difference. But Oregon is not even close to matching OSU.

Oregon did beat OSU in the regular season... but my point is that a lot of people pointed to the 'blowouts' in some of the early playoff games to say that Indiana or Clemson didn't belong.   But, you won't hear a peep about that regarding Oregon, even though this is the worst game of the bunch.

Interestingly, I think the Eagles will have a tougher game in the wild card round than divisional.

Agreed.

I feel that if we win the wild-card round, we're a 90% favorite to make the NFCCG. Any divisional round game gives us a dome/warm weather team on road (TB/Atl/Minn/Det/LAR). Hope it's cold that day.

I don’t understand why resting players in a meaningless game is playing scared…?

Is it playing scared when you don’t play your starters and try to win a preseason game?  If not, then what’s the difference?

SMH

Obviously not a "meaningless” game when you have the opportunity to make history.

Well, had he been told this was how it was going to go maybe he would have pushed to stay in last week. This may be the right decision, but I dont believe it was handled in the best way.

Nonsense

they let him get 2k and pulled him. Resting him wk 18 is a no brainer for any coach serious about a title

yeah. You can receive a package of 100 consecutive 1st round picks, and the next GM could come in here and screw all of them up. There is no replacing a GM like Howie. Untouchable.

This adds the needed perspective that Howie’s under contract through 2025, so the Jets would ostensibly need to wait until after next season to make such an offer.  I’m sure they would gauge whether he has any interest well before that time, contrary to the Texans recruiting and offering their GM job to Cesario while he was still under contract in New England, and having to wait one full year, setting up the needless drama with Deshaun Watson (prior to his criminality surfacing).

The Jets can always ask.  99 chance out of 100 Roseman laughs at them, but they can still inquire.

They should have at least left him in the game last week.

Its an entirely meaningless game despite the chance to break the record

its all risk for no reward

Wrong

he wasnt going to break the record in that game and you still rest him.

the coach has an obligation to keep his eyes on the prize. The real prize. And do everything he can to maximize odds to get there and win it

His name could have moved to a more prominant spot on the list of all time single season rushers, instead of being this close to breaking the record, yet being all the way down at 8th on the single season list. And, had he gotten to within 40 or so, which he probably would have, you let him break it in the 1st quarter week 18 and THEN rest.

If he had known for sure he wasnt playing this week, he likely would have wanted to go as far as he could have last week.

sorry if already posted

I’d be surprised if Howie doesn’t get an extension this offseason. Have a hard time seeing lurie not getting it done unless Howie has expressed interested in possibly a new endeavor.

Yep - and had he known this was going to happen, good chance he stays in against the Giants in the 1st Giants game.

Yep

Thoughts on Sawyer from Ohio st?

seems like an overachiever, which i dig, but im still not sure if he is a starter at the nfl level

And if he got hurt staying in? Sheet stupidity to take that risk.

All this care about avoiding injury, and in doing so avoiding breaking a 40 year old record only to be on a course to meet the Lions and probably have Kirby Joseph take a dive at his knees anyway.

He can avoid the record and still get hurt. Its not an either or scenario. I prefer going for both. It doesnt hurt our chances of winning a super bowl nearly as bad as people are pretending it does if we see him go break that record in the 1st half this sunday and then rest.

Thats just it. Has saquon ever struck anyone as a selfish player? I never saw that. He is a team guy

The reward is to make history.   The same way you make history when you win a Super Bowl.

Who’s going to remember this team if they don’t win the Super Bowl?  No one - that’s who.

They have a chance to guarantee they would be remembered forever if they break that record.

The story alone would have produced documentary after documentary….

- Barkley gets cut from Giants because they don’t think he’s one of the top backs in the league and prefer to keep Jones - who they end up cutting mid season

- Barkley comes to the Eagles, wins rushing title and breaks all time rushing record in final game of season against the same team in hat didn’t think he "was good enough”

- The offensive line and rest of team go down in history

- The Eagles go on to win …..? (Maybe the Super Bowl) ?

For an opportunity this big, you can hardly consider him selfish for wanting to break it.

He’s not selfish and he is a team guy.  He’a probably a little too nice of a guy in this situation.

They really shouldn’t have. If anything they should have pulled him way before they did because the game was already secured.

People: the objective is to win the Super Bowl not the single season rushing record. Anything that risk the former is not worth the latter.

Utter stupidity

The ring is the prize. The only prize. The point isnt to entertain donkeys is hazleton pa. Its to lift the lombardi.

Saquon knows it too. He takes himself out plenty. He wants the young guys to eat, remember? In the moment sure it would be neat, but inconsequential
