This is frustrating, the NFL is willing to take kickoff rule suggestions from a crackerjack league. But won’t adopt the best OT rules that exist in football from the NCAA

I don't think it's set in stone that they will keep the kickoff rules used this year.  I think it was more of a trial and it really didn't have much impact. 

But yes they should absolutely use the NCAA OT rules.  Maybe instead of the 25 start each possession at the 40.

I'll say though, people still talk about the Redskins from that era, the losers of that game. Sustained team success tends to be better for the legacy for the guys who aren't true tier 1 all-time players. 

Marino got 5,000 that year too, crazy year that was. And the record hung around for a while. While Marino was known for being Hall of Fame great, he's not talked about with the Montanas, the Bradys, the Mannings. Pretty much just a name on a screen, though he's been more visible than Dickerson post-retirement.
