I don't understand the 4PM kickoff at all.

They want the winning team to be able to get a flight home after the game and get ready for the next round.

Texas defense with some awful tackling. 0 made like no effort on that.

I don't mind the rule but don't like the ejection part.

I don’t watch college much. Seemed very bang bang and not anything malicious, especially with the tip.

So if Jalen Hurts isn't ready for the wild card round you believe the Eagles would rest Pickett instead of playing him?

Stupid and irrelevant question.  It is a question worthy of Chicken Little.

That was a sweet suplex for a TD

How is the edge set by Nolan Smith?   Same way.   The player reads the play and adjusts accordingly.  On a pass rush, you see them keep going upfield to get around the OT.  On a run play, you see them square up on the outside shoulder of the OT and keep them at arm's length.

Well said.  With one of the key "do not” caveats is do not get upfield of/past the QB.

Wow talk about all or nothing

go for 2

Yea but we've seen Hurts have slow starts

I'm confused by your post. I was never arguing to bring him out. If he's not cleared then he shouldn't play

I wasn’t responding to you.  You have expressed concern without losing your head.  RTW has decapitated himself.

If you were given the opportunity to take one RB from that list of 10 which one would it be?

For me it would be Earl Campbell.

However, my GOAT isn’t on that list … Jim Brown.

Gotta be Barry for me.   There's only one back on that list that I would watch every down just to see him play.    Barkley would be close to that list, as he's also done some special things, as evidenced by the reverse hurdle this year.

For me the decision comes down to overall team health and I think the fact the bye week was all the way back in Week 5 weighs pretty heavily.  The team has been playing every week for the past 3 months and the physical toll piles up.

Understood. Your post was quoting me so that's where the confusion came from

Fair point. Thought it was the Niners, turned out it was the Raiders.

I'll say though, people still talk about the Redskins from that era, the losers of that game. Sustained team success tends to be better for the legacy for the guys who aren't true tier 1 all-time players.

Marino got 5,000 that year too, crazy year that was. And the record hung around for a while. While Marino was known for being Hall of Fame great, he's not talked about with the Montanas, the Bradys, the Mannings. Pretty much just a name on a screen, though he's been more visible than Dickerson post-retirement.

1984 season was the 49ers - Dolphins Super Bowl.

January 1984 Super Bowl was Raiders-Redskins.   Which had, perhaps, the single greatest run in Super Bowl history.

So he actually wanted to go for it.  That sucks.

Is playing for the #1 seed so you have have a bye also loser/scared mentality?

Lots of teams rest starters in the final week, they use it to rest and prepare for the playoffs.

It’s a First World problem.

Ohio State gets a TD on their first drive. Made it look easy too

It isn't about maliciousness or not in college... just about where the contact is made.  Ejection is where it goes too far.  They need more discretion regarding the ejection.

Like you said they haven’t had a bye week since week 5. To get to the Super Bowl if they played everybody in this week (which you are doing if Barkley wants the record as you aren’t having all backups out there), it means they would’ve had to go 16 consecutive weeks without a bye to reach the Super Bowl. It’s possible but it is a lot of games played straight through and we have some guys that likely could use the rest.

Tbh whoever doesn’t get that bye between the lions and Vikings has a similar issue. Vikings bye was week 6. And lions was week 5. It’s why i thought DC should’ve taken the niners game as a bye.

Barry clearly has the style trophy to himself.  Brown and Campbell have the pure dominance trophy to share.

Nice thing about this College Football playoff is the Rose Bowl has a classic "Big 10 - Pac 10" matchup.  Even though, there no longer is a Pac 10.

I want Skattebo on this roster next year though. .  Maybe land him in Round 4?

If the Eagles happen to win their 2nd Super Bowl with a backup QB they will never sign a QB to a big contract again. Rev up that QB factory!

Hypothetically, if they did (1) win the SB and (2) let the NFL know that they would entertain offers for a Hurts trade, what do you think they would be offered and by which team(s)?

Of course he wanted to go for it. Don’t be stupid. It’s a personal achievement. All the same, he acknowledged that there was good reason to rest him and the other guys. Good for the team.

Don’t pretend he didn’t acknowledge that.

And this is the downside of not going for it.   Team morale is a fragile thing.  Guess who looks really disappointed in this decision?   And guess who has been having fun for the whole time this season... until now.

Depends on who you are playing against.   Against a statue, you can get away with it.   Against Daniels?  Absolutely not.

Ohio State always has stud WRs.   ALWAYS.
