EMB Blog: 2024 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

I see the Hurts Haters are going into overdrive now faced with the reality that he is returning this Sunday to go on a deep playoff run which will just further solidify his inevitable placement as the best QB in franchise history.

Hurts has passing limitations, but your relentless statements repeating the same message are concerning. Do you have Hurts Alzheimer's?  Should we be contacting your doctor and family about appropriate living scenarios to keep you safe from yourself and Hurts?

That one was new.

Everyone talking about the Lions. That's 3 games away. Have to take care of GB and then probably Tampa first.  Deep breathes guys.

We’ll always be a running team under Sirianni, and I don’t Think that’s a bad thing. I think that’s an excellent thing

I don’t think that’s true at all. We’ve seen multiple years they come out trying to be a passing team and have to pivot to be a running team. Would we be a running team this year if the O-line didn’t suggest it during the bye? Are we forgetting how many "run the ball” chants and fake cheers would happen after one run at the Linc?

LaPorta is healthier and younger than Goedert.  He has also been more productive

He's better than Goedert, but not nearly by enough to account for the gap in talent that AJ and Smitty hold over Amon Ra and Jameson

I am just not sure that will necessarily translate into him being a good head coach

Again, the context was more so how the "CEO Head Coach" will fare after the brain drain hits when his coordinators get poached. How the coordinators fare in their next stop is another story entirely.

You and TK, different sides of the same coin.

Well looks like we still won't get any holds called on Jalen Carter but maybe we get a roughing the passer called on Hurts for the first time all year.

Weren't you just saying a bit ago that the season was over since a backup was possibly starting against Packers?

When was I ever saying the season was over?  I was certainly saying it was on the table that Hurts might not be able to go on Sunday but never said anything about the season being over.  Are you that scummy that you'll make up and put words in someone's mouth?

Why can't refs just call a fair game

The Lions have the number one offense in the NFL and it's because of their talent.

Nope. Its the OC.

Alternatively, how much impact does Hurts have on Barkley’s rushing numbers?

Not much. Why would we think that? Its not rpo thats driving it. And how much does hurts run off of when we do it?

For shame.  You have a long way to go if you want to ascend from being scummy to the level of consistently ignorant.

How do they do on the illegal man downfield call, cause that one breaks our back regularly? It's ALWAYS a TD or chunk play. Every damn time.

How I see it all playing out.

Sarcasm or insult?

Looking like Mike McCarthy returning to the Cowboys

How I see it playing out:

AFC wild card

2 Buffalo vs 7 Denver— Buffalo 30-17

3 Baltimore vs. 6 Steelers —Ravens 34-20

4 Houston vs. 5 Chargers—Chargers 24-17

NFC wild card

2 Eagles Vs. 7 Packers— Eagles 27-21

3 Bucs vs  6 Commanders— Bucs 24-20 (huge Bucky Irving game)

4 Rams vs  5 Vikings— Rams 27-23

AFC Divisional Round

1 Chiefs vs 5 chargers— Chiefs 27-24

2 Buffalo vs  3 Ravens— Ravens 34-31

NFC divisional Round

1 Lions vs  4 Rams— Lions 35-27

2 Eagles vs  3 Bucs— Eagles 28-20

AFC championship game

1 Chiefs vs 3 Ravens— Chiefs 28-24

Nfc Championship game

1 Lions vs 2 Eagles— Lions 31-30 (i feel like it’s going to come down to whoever has ball last and i feel like if this game was in Philly the eagles would win)

Super Bowl

1 chiefs vs 1 Lions— Chiefs 27-23

I hope i am wrong and the eagles beat the lions. cause in a Super Bowl rematch i think we have the edge and i think little extra for guys who lost that game plus we are 1-0 in Super Bowl rematches (beat Brady the second time)

I THINK they also got the Trotter pick when it all shook out.

I'm inclined to keep it simple ... two picks given up and two players received.  All the rest is gravy.

Davis playing most of the Giants game was interesting. He’s a key cog to the run game and the fact they were willing to risk his health in a meaningless game was interesting. Maybe it’s a conditioning thing to keep him in game shape, but who knows.

He only played 21 snaps out of 53 ... 40%.  Slightly higher than usual, but in the same ball park.

That proves I am right.

Eagles really don’t play four DL.  (With Graham on IR, they have one DE on the roster, Huff.  They play a 5/2 which is really a 3/4 just depends if it is a heavy line or a light one.  Arguably, they play some 2/4/5, two DTs, 2 OLBs, two ILBs and 5 DBs.

I'm not sure that the snap counts bear out your supposition. The LB snaps are pretty close to spot on 2 players worth of snaps over the season.  The DB snaps are above 4.5 players worth of snaps over the season.  The D-Line snaps are below 4.5 players worth of snaps over the season.

I will have accurate numbers for those groupings tomorrow.

I’d be surprised if he got a HC job, but I don’t think losing Moore would be a catastrophe other than Hurts having to learn a new offense for the third year in a row. The passing offense was average this year, a little better than last year mainly because of Hurts capping his turnovers. This offense was carried by Barkley and the offensive line.

The good news is it doesn’t look like Fangio is going anywhere. Losing him would be a disaster.
