STOP USING TOTAL TDS!!!!

I am not a Hurts Hater.  He does a very good job of what he is being asked to do here.  We win because of him, not with him, and he can lead us to a Super Bowl.  But you insult the intelligence of everyone else here by mixing TD passes with 2-foot sneaks into the endzone.

They do it because it 'looks' better when combined

This team's history with QBs is poor, no doubt.  And Hurts still has a long way to pass even McNabb and Jaws.  And in terms of 'best seasons' by a QB in an Eagles' uniform, he's got a long way to go to pass either Van Brocklin or Jurgenson.  Maybe one day he will.

If Hurts makes the Super Bowl this year he will already have a strong case for best QB in franchise history at only 26 years old since he will become the only QB in franchise history to take the team to at least 2 Super Bowls.  He already has the highest win percentage of any QB in franchise history.  He has already joined McNabb and Jaws as the only QBs to take the team to 4 straight playoff appearances. It won't be too much longer until he surpasses McNabb for taking the team to the playoffs the most times in a career.  Only QB in franchise history to win 14 games in a season, only QB in franchise history to win at least 13 games in a season multiple times.

Only 26 years old.

Jalen Carter voted first team all-pro by nfl players

https://nflpa.com/posts/the-players-all-pro

Saquon also first team.

Probably won’t reflect in AP all-pro list, but may be good news for the player-voted top 100 in the summer

Less to do with quarterbacking and more to do with squatting and a powerful offensive line.

That’s just nonsense.  Seriously, look at the Pickett and Tanner Brotherly Shoves.  Neither get in without serious shoves.  Most the time with a Jalen, because of his squat strength, the shovers act more as side and back protection for a Jalen more than physically shoving him like the did with Pickett. How many times has Hurts had TDs converted on a tush push from a field location created directly as a result of a Hurts pass? Measuring a QB’s success based on whether the receiver breaks the plane is just dumb but the reality of stats.

Reality is that if Hurts had not missed most of the Wasteam game and all of the second cowpads game, he would have had over 3,000 yards passing.  Think about that, 3,000 yards passing (plus 630 yds rushing) to go with 2k for Barkley. Eagles are 14-3.   Eagles are riding the best RB in the league and folks continue to denigrate a QB with 32 TDs and a rating over 100 and a 68.7 completion.  Not a bad year.  I am not saying Hurts is flawless and the perfect QB, he isn’t.  But this conception that he is an anchor is nonsense.

Nope.  They moved it to 3:35 when they move the location to the Linc.

If hurts doesn't practice today you cannot play him on Sunday. Start McKee. Dude hasn't practiced in almost a month now let alone play an actual game, we cannot afford an even slower start than normal.

Both were only starters here for three seasons.  Van Brocklin had 6 Pro Bowls in 8 years with the Rams before coming here.  Jurgenson only had one good season here before getting 4 Pro Bowls in DC.

If this were like the baseball HOF, where the players choose the cap they wear, neither would be wearing an Eagles cap.

Probably why you didn’t include Warner with the Cards.

Pretty laughable that Carter was the only defender honestly, and that not a single O-lineman from the Eagles was chosen

I agree it is too early in Johnson's career to know if he will be even close to Weis was.

Weiss as an OC:

  • '97: (Jets) 12th ranked scoring offense
  • '98: (Jets) 5th ranked scoring offense
  • '99: (Jets) 19th ranked scoring offense
  • '00: (Pats) 25th ranked scoring offense
  • '01: (Pats) 6th ranked scoring offense
  • '02: (Pats) 10th ranked scoring offense
  • '03: (Pats) 12th ranked scoring offense
  • '04: (Pats) 4th ranked scoring offense
  • '10: (Chiefs) 14th ranked scoring offense

Johnson as an OC:

  • '22: 5th ranked scoring offense
  • '23: 5th ranked scoring offense
  • '24: 1st ranked scoring offense
Quote

Weis was a very successful OC at multiple stops.  He had teams that lacked the talent the Lions have and found ways to plug in players and have success.  Weis was a very good play caller and an excellent coordinator.  Ben Johnson just hasn't done that much.

He had a very good season in '98 with the Jets but not sure that alone qualifies as being "very successful at multiple stops". And despite having the best QB in league history, he only cracked the top 5 once in his tenure with the Pats. Meanwhile Johnson has already surpassed Weiss' number of top 5 seasons in his first 3 years as an OC.

To be honest you could make the same argument about discounting the one thing he does do at a higher rate than any other QB in the history of the game.

People responding to you like 'they do it because it makes him look better'.  Really? No crap.

It's like Sirianni and Hurts both get zero credit for what happens to this team. Whole sections of the board believe we could achieve the same results if we had Blake Bortles, Blaine Gabbert or Al Bundy under center coached by Al Pacino's character in Any Given Sunday because the offensive roster is so great, despite having Big Red's last couple of seasons here with a similarly talented offensive roster and apparently a better QB coming out 12-28 like 15 years ago.

Sometimes the grass you're on is green enough and you should enjoy it a bit rather than nit picking about how if you just had a better this or that, because having what you perceive as all the best parts amounts to less than what you had.

Three great seasons with the Rams and only one with the Cards.

He isn't top five on their franchise list in terms of yards.  Murray is already ahead of him.  Palmer had a better 6-season run there.

Hes highly non traditional.  Let’s call it that.  I’d rather be a traditional juggernaut plowing through a well traveled path than hoping the alternate route takes you to a sb.  But that’s the route we are taking.

I don’t see him as a RB1.  I see him more as a Julian Edelman type, but not specifically as a receiver.  More than anything he is a winner.  But the fact that he ran for 32 touchdowns and 1,659 yards this season was due to talent.  He would be a complement to RB1if my suspicions are correct.

If you see him as a gadget guy, maybe there is room for him. RB/WR who can be used on trick plays as a passer type of deal.

But I wouldn’t want to go into next season with a depth chart of Barkley, Gainwell, Shipley and Dailey.

Gainwell isn’t good enough to carry this offense, Shipley hasn’t proven he can be a playmaker, and by your own account Dailey isn’t a RB1.

We need to get a blue chipper in here so our offense is viable without Barkley.

Do we not count shovel passes (Mahommes). Or a short throw but a fantastic YAC for a TD by the receiver.  Short tosses from the red zone somehow count more than almost automatic results from the Brotherly Shove?   This idea that a QB gets credit for some TDs but not others is just nuts. Me, I love being able to rush successfully for results in the red zone.  So Burrows throws a three yard slant to Chase that he runs forty yards for the score and we credit him with a 43 yard TD?  See the nonsense in this restriction?  Frankly, I don’t care how the Eagles get the six, I care that they get the six.  And it is they, not the individual player.

Let’s be honest about Hurts’ play this year.  He is reading progressions better.  He certainly has adopted use of the check down.  He is making many more smart decisions in throwing the ball away and getting down to protect himself. And he throws one of the best deep balls in the NFL.  Still is slow to pull the trigger.  He’s better at play action than Pickett, not even close. (So is the Mormon Missile.)  Neither is Ken Anderson but who is.  Hurts still is figuring out how to resist running under pressure and figure out how to move the pocket but he has been better at that this season.

Well, we have until 3PM and we can pretend Jeff McLane has no sources and makes everything up on a whim. In that case...
