See my message above.   I recanted my assertions on Hurts' contract.

Huff is, not just because of the number involved with him being greater, but they didn't pursue other options because they pursued him... and once they landed him, they ceased the pursuit of anyone else in that role.

That's not entirely true. When they signed Huff, they still had Reddick and they still signed Baun (who Howie had as edge competition). Then after the Reddick trade we extended the contracts of Blankenship, Mailata, Smith and Brown.

Typical: guy calls a woman ugly, a c--- repeatedly and people here blame another guy for provoking him.  If there was any provocation other than wearing Packer gear (we all know that act alone is enough to elicit aggression) then take it up with the provocateur,  not his fiance.  What a pu-ssy b-tich that Eagles fan was.  He was right behind her, was asked to stop multiple times, and just continued to be a complete ahole.

. You don't think that the move to add Huff and dump Reddick were related?  They gave Huff the money that Reddick wanted (a little less, actually) and then once they freed up Reddick's money, they could turn to extend others.  But that illustrates the point, doesn't it.  Had they not freed up the Reddick money (and had both Huff AND Reddick), would they have been able to extend all 4 of those guys?  🤔

Baun was a ST signing and edge depth guy, he wasn't signed to be a primary pass rusher.  That's why he got a 1 year deal with minimal salary (1 year at $3.5M vs 3 years at $51M).   One was a central piece to the offseason strategy, the other was a complementary depth piece.   Night and day difference.

Obviously the Eagles expected more from Huff, but they were confident they had their guy and weren't in the market after that for another big-name edge rusher in free agency. So his contract didn't prevent them from adding more, his arrival did.

I didn't think that would help much.  The way his contract is structured, its almost all 'prorated bonus' money - which would sound like cash already paid out.  Maybe not though, since its in the "OPTION" heading and not strictly the "Signing Bonus" category.   Screenshot2025-01-15at8_32_13AM.thumb.png.af5b77ca72dcb80822bff5d1fc63fb2d.png

Looking at this closer, Howie might truly be a genius.  If these bonuses can be shipped off with Hurts... or they aren't all guaranteed bonuses, then the Hurts contract piece may not actually be an argument against him.   @mattwill

The weird part I can't figure out is the 2025 cap figure.   They show it to be $21.7M... BUT, the 2025 'guaranteed SALARY' is listed as $42M.  So, that's gotta be spread out somehow, but I don't see how they are accounting for that.   How the "Guaranteed" salary figures into this according to Spotrac is confusing.  The figures don't align to what overthecap included.

I guess the long and the short of it is this... none of us actually knows how Hurts' contract is structured or how it really works.  But, looking at it... Howie stayed up a few nights/weeks to convolute this one to the point of utter confusion and tedium for the league office.   And he's likely got some weird loopholes worked in where its actually not as limiting as it appeared on first blush.       I give up my delusions of ever understanding anything about the cap.

He has a $40.83M guaranteed option bonus in 2025 and his base salary of $1,170,000 is guaranteed. That’s the $42M guaranteed salary for 2025. Option bonuses work like signing bonuses, they get spread over 5 years. So that $40.83 gets spread from 2025 through 2029, resulting in a lower cap hit.

Use that same basic principle for every year, because that’s how Howie structured the contract. Instead of large base salaries and restructuring every year to lower the cap he opted for option bonuses which basically works as an automatic restructure.

He threw for a 100% completion rate in the 2nd half.  Every decision he made was perfect exactly when it mattered the most.  Oh, and he also won 2 other SBs.  Mahomes and Hurts should never be mentioned in the same sentence of comparison.

A large portion of Hurts’ contract includes injury insurance. How much is unclear but it subtracts from the cap hit if he gets injured and is classified as a refund to the player.

I wish Sam Lynch was here to break it down.

Yup. We're about to get a ton of cap relief from James Bradberry too. That doesn't show up on sites like OvertheCap either.

Only thing that's unclear to me is whether they insure the cash in that given year (ex: 4M) or the average annual value of the contract (12M). If we get 12M in cap credits, then that basically allows us to resign Milton or Becton.

Just about all of these QBs are overpaid. One could say, Hurts was robbed in 2022 when he made only $1.5M per year and the years before that. Again, he was playing hurt last year. Had a concussion recently and now we wait for the Real Jalen Hurts. No excuses....

Mentioning an excuse and then saying no excuses is interesting

Maybe she's in on it?  I don't know.  Again, I'm not condoning the guy's actions, but it's also pretty scummy to purposely go to other team's stadiums with the intention of antagonizing fans for content and then crying foul when you get a negative response.

If he was going full johnny somali, he didn't come up with much.

Apparently the Packers fan who recorded the dude calling his woman a c*nt is a content creator - wore a bodycam to the game.  Set up a gofundme to get into the game - probably antagonized the Eagles fan.  Not condoning what the Eagles fan did, but it would be interesting to see all the footage.

Packers fans were celebrating by making “****” motions with their hands

They played the victim card good and mob mentality went after the Eagles fan

what he said was wrong, but if that’s what the packers fans were doing I’d be mad too

Talk about irony.  Bacarty working for a DEI consulting firm?  It must have been a zero step interview process.

I assume you're directing this at me.  As I stated before, I am not condoning what the Eagles fan did or said.  I'm simply pointing out that there is another side to this story, and it's quite possible based on what we know that the Packers fans went there with the intention of riling up fans to create content for clicks/views.  In my opinion that's scummy.

Again, the packers fans were taunting pretending to "j e r k” off with their hands as a celebration

The packers fans Twitter has old posts with derogatory slurs, and we’ve all seen his go fund me, being fully aware of the hostile environment describing it as "the belly of the beast”

watched the packers couple interview after their ‘fame’ and it’s it’s alarming how many red flags you’ll see.

GF doesn’t even like football. Didn’t want to switch seats with her BF saying it’s a "pride thing” to stand her ground (made up since everyone knows that was a simple solution and got blowback on that)

Never contacted security even tho the # is on the back of every seat. Said he had no idea

And if that’s the true taunt that couple was doing, ppl should be ashamed for blasting that eagles fan and essentially ruining his life at this moment

Who would want to sit next to people doing a taunt like that?

🤦‍♂️.  Exactly, they had allotted a specific amount to fill that need, and once that allotment was gone, they moved on to the other areas of need.  In other words, his contract (which is how he arrived) precluded the addition of someone else at that position.

I looked at field position and Hurts' performance.

Outside our own forty or no huddle...12-18, 121 yards, 2 TDs, no sacks, no scrambles, passer rating of 122.7.

Inside our own forty...1-3, 10 yards, 2 sacks, 2 scrambles, passer rating of 43.8.

It could be our game plan and/or play calling.  It does seem that once we get going and get into tempo, the whole operation works better.

So what is the point?  Howie wasn't perfect on his way to putting together the widely acknowledged best roster in the league?

Colts hosting the game in Berlin next season.

We won't be going there either.

I would imagine he was working out at some point prior... BUT... that looks like the stadium locker room not the Nova Care.

On the other hand, he might have jumped in the shower just to heat up.  After a long day out in the freezing cold, nothing heats the body up better and faster than a hot shower.  He might have been cold.

No, you missed the point and would have to go back to find the full context.

Missing the point is what I do best.

My one neat trick to avoid getting banned from Sports stadiums for repeatedly calling someone a really bad word and then effectively calling their boyfriend out as a **** for not fighting me about it on camera is to not repeatedly call people bad words.

My system is 100% effective.

Is it more likely the Packers fan went specifically to a game to provoke a guy into doing this, or that he only started filming because this guy had been calling his missus a bad word and he wanted something on record in case it got uglier? If the Eagles fan had been done dirty by the film there'd have been other nearby fans sticking their head above the parapet leaping to his defense about how big a dbag the Packer fan was just prior to the footage.
