No, teams like the Hornets and Wizards would be the Browns/Jets/Raiders of the NFL.

Sixers would be comparable to teams like the Bills, Texans and Vikings as teams that will consistently make the playoffs but fall short of being able to play for a championship.

Nah.  They are the Cowboys.  Jerry and Josh are a matched pair.

I haven't seen it

People have called him a scumbag, trash, worthless, etc and on multiple occasions have said something to the effect of "with our roster, we could win it all but only if he gets hurt".  Come on, you're either trolling like HE or you're just blind to it because you agree.

Not in popularity but could make the argument to cowboys. where glory years were decades ago. Won championships 30+ years. For the last 20 years they will sometimes even have the best record regular season in their conference, make the playoffs (spots where they missed for stretches) and can’t get past the second round (divisional round for cowboys). Sixers haven’t made a ECF or finals since 01. Cowboys haven’t made a sb or nfc title game since 96

You beat me to it.

And Midnight Sunday night.

It's trying to snow all day.

Cali team coming to the east coast for a January playoff game. Cold and snowy. Definitely a disadvantage for them. Weather like that plays to the Eagles strength. Running the ball and defense

How is Joah Harris a match for Jerry Jones?

How is calling him a scum, trash or worthless wishing injury on him? I've said multiple times qb1 is ass. Am I wishing him an injury with that comment?

That's not wishing injury

Here’s my issue with the Hurts debate.  I used to get frustrated because passing is not his strength and I could not wrap my head around the concept of competing with an nfl offense featuring a qb that isn’t a great passer.  I feel the offense could be so much better with a better passer.  But I’m over that.  They’ve found a way to win.  It works.  We are in a playoff run.  I don’t care about doing it my way or being proven right.

Here’s the problem.  The Eagles aren’t built around the running game or Hurts running or the RPO.  That’s too specific.  They are built around having the best, most stacked roster in the nfl.  A generational RB, the best OL in the NFL, elite pass catchers, elite defense.  And the QBs job is to not do too much, run for some big plays, make some timely throws, and don’t turn it over.

That formula is winning.  It may fall short Sunday against the Rams or it may deliver a parade this February.  But it is winning and that’s the way to go for now.  But it’s not sustainable.  And it’s about money.  I know we aren’t paying the salaries and Howie is a cap wizard, but he can’t defy reality.

This formula works if the qb is on a modest contract.  You can’t pay Hurts $250m.  You’ll lose one or more of Milton Williams, Becton, Baun, Sweat.  And then next year, the offense has to score a few more points to win games.  Hurts has to throw a few more passes to score those points because you couldn’t keep Becton for the power running game.  When the qb is on that kind of deal, some of the blocks behind that stacked roster have to get pulled away.  And when you need to score more points, need to pass more to get there…the team will regress to the mean because the roster will be slightly less stacked and we’ll be asking more of the 250m qb.  That will be our reality starting next year.

I share the same opinion with you on Hurts and almost everything you said.  It's agonizing to me that he is not a good passer, and the NFL demands an elite passer to win championships, especially with all of the rule changes.  Not throwing for 3,000 yards in a season right now is completely unacceptable.  I don't care what Barkley did.  That's insane to me.  I'm not over it like you are, but at least there's an out in Hurt's contract after next season.  However, I also don't like the idea of starting all over at that position.

The only point you make that I don't necessarily agree with is that Howie can't defy reality.  I have 3 long reasons for that.

1) 90% of the league GM's are chewing their fingernails with puckered up buttholes because they think they're going to get fired.  None of them are making moves to help their franchise years down the road like Howie has recently done to build up this stellar roster.  They are trying to win now to keep their jobs. Howie has the biggest safety net in football.

2) Lurie is definitely one of the best owners in sports, and he obviously understands how to manipulate the cap with cash forward and lawyer lingo nonsense that Howie takes care of.  I look at a team like Dallas, where it was honestly criminal that they waited to sign Dak as long as they did, and it has ruined their team. It's like 30 out of 32 owners don't understand the cheat code, or they're insanely cheap (or maybe just not liquid like that idiot Raiders owner).

3) Everyone keeps saying 250m QB for Hurts, but the way his contract is structured will never puncture this team.  We have an out after next season if need be, and even next year his cap is not a big hit compared to other mediocre QBs.  I can't remember exactly what his cap hit is next year - I'll leave that to @paco and company, but I know Danny Dimes is a bigger hit on the Giants cap than Hurts is for us next year.

I truly don't care how we win, and I really do think we are gonna kill the Rams at home this weekend.  I criticize Hurts aggressively because he is agonizing to watch with this loaded roster.  Sheesh - even his 2 TD's last weekend (The first he had 7 seconds to throw in the pocket.  7!  And he probably would have had more.  The 2nd was an awful throw again to Goedert and he beat up 3 people to get into the end zone).  However, moving forward, I don't know if this formula of "stacked roster" is good enough to beat Detroit or anyone in the AFC.  If we win with Hurts playing terrible for the next 3 games, I couldn't care less.

Spoiler

Also, @mikemack8 let's his pomeranian eat peanut brittle from his butthole after he gets a Brazilian from a guy named Theo.

Holy crap there’s a lot of wordy BS in the blog today. You guys bore me.

The Eagles are going to kill the Rams even if Hurts doesn’t throw a pass. Actually, that doesn’t sound like a bad plan.

I’m just ready to talk smack on Monday after Lamar Jackson has another lackluster playoff performance. Tired of always seeing that girly purple everywhere.

My wife just left town to go to Wilmington for her cousin's 30th (SIL was just here).  I'm sitting here drinking Truly's because that is the only thing in the fridge, and I'm gonna go meet one of the other daycare dads at a bar until I have to pick up the girls. FYI - I pick up the girls in a stroller.  They are at a daycare on my street

That is definitely the game of the week.  I've always criticized Lamar, and I'll continue to do so if he poops his pants again in a big spot.  But Jesus, that guy was on another level this year.

The hurts upcoming contract doesn't hurt us.  It's only when the contract actually starts being paid.

I still say,  with Howie, all things are possible.

Luckily when that big contract kicks in,  there are also outs. Then maybe we can get a good QB instead.

As I've said before,  being right isn't always easy around here.  I was also called a troll for 2-3 years to the slow pokes came around to realize Barnett sucked too.

I don't ever just start parroting wrong takes just to satisfy the rest of the EMB. I stay right and it's proven in time.

When being right is considered extreme,  that's a problem for the rest of you. Not me.

Let's be consistent here.  I don't recall your argument being that Barnett sucked.  It was that he wasn't athletic enough to have been a first round pick.  No one considered it to be extreme at the time.

Your argument above seems to indicate that Hurts isn't a good QB.  Us "middlers" consider that to be extreme.  I'll note that for later reference when "right" is proven in time.
