EMB Blog: 2024 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Yep - this was very close to being a loss that's why a lot of us are saying they really need to clean it up and play better the next two weeks.

D let them march right down the field and score a TD when a stop would have sealed the game, the O couldn't seal the game with a couple of first downs, the D then let them march down all the way to near our 10 yard line till Jalen stepped up with a couple of huge plays. We were literally one more 15 yard pass away from losing the game...

One odd thing I noticed is a lot of blitzing from Vic on that last drive. Uncharacteristic. I think we was hoping to get a sack to drain clock and stall the drive, but oddly enough that came on a 4-man rush.

"You're complaining about a win"

Meanwhile the actual players will always respond that there is room for improvement

Nobody is complaining about a win.

Even in a win there are usually always areas of the team that need criticism and hopefully improvement comes from it.

When the Eagles won SB 52, everyone was happy and estatic but some of us were still talking about how they gave up 500 plus yards to the Pats.  Some take that as we aren't happy with a win.  Not the case.

Mike Schmidt would disagree.

Post game, Barkley said the OL wanted 300 rushing yards and they only got 285.

Guess who is going to be pissed and try even harder to hit 300 this week?

Some idiot put out a video on X of Barkley running to the 76ers theme.

Speak for yourself. Now, at best, we’ll have pick 29. I can’t stay awake that late on a Thursday night.

People complaining after a win about people complaining after a win are worse than people complaining after a win.

fight me on it and then I’ll complain after winning

That's fair

My favorite internet theory is the Cowboys are interviewing and leaking interest to make hiring Kellen Moore less underwhelming

His blitzing was actually fairly effective.  DeJean almost got a pick on that first blitz.  Only one blitz was beat for a 1st down.  They only rushed 4 on that long pass to Nakua.

But yeah…I was surprised at the blitzing too…Stafford usually kills the blitz.  Maybe he was thinking the weather would help too.

Aaron Glenn to Jets probably means Mike McCarthy to Saints

I haven't done much study on the 2025 draft to have an idea on relative positional depth, but I see the Eagles priorities heading into the draft presently as follows:

-- EDGE

-- TE

-- RT

-- RB2

This assumes Baun is re-signed (hopefully Williams and Becton as well).  After that it can be BPA (which it always should be, anyway -- within reason)

EDGE in this class is very good and very deep, as is RB.  OT is said to be relatively weak.

False, I didn't say that or "act" like that. At all. I get that you used my post to kind of address others but don't lump me in. In fact I have been critical of things from that win, but not just of Hurts only. There were other issues in the game as well, and that stuff all needs to get cleaned up. Including Hurts performance.

My point in the context of that exchange was there were other issues in that game - not just Hurts. greend keeps harping on Hurts that the team won despite him. I pointed out that there were other issues as well. My comment about the win is just finding it funny how much Eagles fans will complain after a playoff win.

The first 3 rounds need to be DE, DT, and TE.

RB and OT can wait another year.

If they retain Williams then it could be DE, DE, and TE.

Maliata needs to find him and level his ass

He’s becoming one of my most hated players - hope he gets flattened on Sunday

Two 3rd round picks go to the Lions.

Heading into our 2nd NFCCG in 3 years, thought I'd compare this team to that one from 2 years ago...

QB: I don't think anyone would disagree that 2022 Hurts was far better than 2024 Hurts. Blame injuries, or the OC, his mental regression, or the lunar phase but this one is clear and not debatable

  • Verdict: 2022 Team

RB: Bruh

  • Verdict: 2024 Team

WR: This one is interesting because we have AJ that's 2 years older with the wear and tear that brings, but also Smitty who should be a bit more savvy and developed as a route runner. Outside of them, I actually liked the blocking ability someone like Zach Pascal brought to our ground game then, even though Quez was a walking brain fart.

  • Verdict: Push

TE: Goedert is still Goedert and we don't use the others enough to draw meaningful differences, so I'll call it another push but I wouldn't argue if you gave the nod to 2022 for contributions in the ground game

  • Verdict: Push

OL: This basically boils down to whether Jurgens and Becton are better than Kelce and Seumalo were, and the answer to that is clearly no.

  • Verdict: 2022 Team

Interior DL: This one is probably the most interesting, Hargrave and an aging Cox vs Carter and Milton Williams rounding into form. Yea gotta give this to the young bucks, Jalen really is that good

  • Verdict: 2024 Team

Edge/OLB: Sweat is two years older, that quick first step might be a tad slower, but with Nolan finally showing some flashes of 1st rd potential, it's tricky to call. Reddick just had too much production which makes it tough to ignore so I think I gotta give the slight edge to him

  • Verdict: 2022 Team

LB: White and Edwards were a solid and perhaps underrated duo, but even with Dean going down, I still gotta give the nod here to Burks and Zach MF'ing Bizzaun because of how dominant he's been this year. No brainer.

  • Verdict: 2024 Team

CB/NCB: Bradberry and Slay were real good that year, again perhaps underrated, but even with Slay being 2 years older, he's still playing at a high level, and the contributions of Q and DeJawn easily put them over the edge.

  • Verdict: 2024 Team

S: I really liked CJGJ and Epps, but Reed has been great and CJGJ has returned to form.

  • Verdict: 2024 Team

ST: Elliot has regressed in a big way it seems, but Mann is better than Siposs, our coverage seems a bit better, and returners aren't as much of a downgrade from Covey outside of the occasional double catch on punts.

  • Verdict: Push

Totals: 3 for 2022 and 5 for 2024

And yet they team was forced to win in spite of it's quarterback .

You’re right. He did everything he could to sabotage the rest of the team. Geez, @greend didn’t you learn anything in your time away?
