No.  I meant via free agency.   There's a chance that Howie doesn't pony up the bucks to resign him.  I think its a slim chance, but there's a chance the actuarial tables win over the X's and O's.  I think its about a 98.5% certainty Baun is back... but there's still that slim chance he gets a crazy offer from outside if he hits the market.

If the Eagles are within a million (maybe even two) of average per year on what he gets offered, then I think he would step up to the plate and come back and ask for a little more guarantee and call it a day.

At the end of the day, an extra million is 600k after taxes - how much is that if you're getting 30+ million guaranteed, over 3-4 years, to come back to the team that helped you become one of the best players in the NFL, a Super Bowl Champion and the opportunity to play for a perennial contender, in the best defense ....for years to come?

Endorsement deals alone, by staying with the current Super Bowl Champions, in a big market, should make the decision a no brainer.  That deal should get done.

Andy Reid values his coaches' opinions on picks - and I'm sure Mudd was high on the guy.

The part that I still don't understand is the one thing Andy Reid does best is character evaluation.  At some point during interviews, etc I'm shocked he didn't "see" that the guy wasn't "in love" with the game.   At some point during the interview process (and maybe everyone involved learned from it) you need to ask, "If I take you with a high pick, you're going to be dedicated to the Philadelphia Eagles and if you do that, we will dedicate ourselves to make you the best"  Or something along those lines - especially for a 25 year old offensive lineman coming out of college.

That said, I think you might be right and Reid ended up taking the "hit" for Mudd on that pick.

As far as the rest - I'm glad he ended up doing what he wanted to do - offensive line in the NFL is not a job you should do without a 110% invested interest.  That said, he made the commitment, cost us a 1st round pick, signed the contract and collected the paychecks - so for that, he doesn't get a 100% pass in my book.  He gets a partial pass because his intentions were truthful (at least by the time he made his decision) and I would guess (or hope) he put the money he made to good use.

I believe he became a fireman close by in Frisco, TX in like 2016. I remember reading a story about him in the Dallas Morning News. Oldest #1 draft pick ever at 26 yrs old. Didn't start playing football until he was 22, and was involved with firefighting as a 16 yr old in BC. What a story. Had to be a heck of a player to go from not playing to 1st rd NFL draft pick in 4 years.

Yeah, we’re not done

Props to Bradberry for being a pro’s pro.

From what I recall, he was "ok".  Still somewhat raw but coacheable if he was willing to put the work in.  Obviously that didn't happen but he would have likely been a solid lineman had he dedicated himself.

We win any tie-breakers/little less for sure.

There's also the human element: moving is one of the worst optional things people go through

Forgot about Ojulari. Might be a cheap rotational option.

I was never going to bring it up. Since you did, Ill add that Dotson's should have been a TD with a slightly better throw as well.

@HazletonEagle @Swoop Have either of you discussed the fact that Hurt's 47 yard TD to Devonta Smith was underthrown?  If he was an average to slightly above average receiver, that pass is probably getting broken up by the defender.  Luckily, he's elite and made an incredible play.  Maybe releasing the ball sooner is something Hurts can work on in the offseason so Devonta doesn't have to constantly come back to the ball when he's breaking free.

Even from the business aspect - he signs a deal as "Current Super Bowl Champions" with Addidas, Nike, Under Armor - whoever - that adds hundreds of thousands of value - maybe millions on the right deal.

I have no animosity toward Bradberry. He was good and he declined. It happens.  If you find yourself upset about a guy getting a ring then you need to lighten up.  (I know no one complained yet but I sense it coming :))

So everyone on the roster, injured, PS and active, all gets one.  Those who got cut and signed multiple times get it too?

It's however Lurie wants to do it.

Baun talking like someone who is staying while Milton is someone who knows he's gone.

On the field after the final score, Williams was showing a hand sign of counting money.  Getting a fat contract is obviously high on his mind.  If the team have the cap room, he could still stay here.

100% up to the owner. Dawkins got one last time basically by Lurie’s grace ( I think he had some honorary FO title). Wouldn’t be surprised if Kelce and Cox both get one for contributions

I would like the blog's best nerd historians to come up with a draft class for any team in NFL history, ignoring the rest of their careers, that did more in their rookie season.

The 1981 49ers had a pretty good draft. They drafted three DBs who started every game and collected 14 (fourteen!) interceptions as rookies, Ronnie Lott being one of them.

I'm note sure if it's on the "miked up" edition but I'm pretty sure I saw Sirianni get up and look over at one of his coaches, after he got blasted with the Gatorade and nod his head saying, "We won?... We won."   or something along those lines.   Either way, that's how I'll remember it.  :towel:

Heading to Philly right now and excited for the parade.

Question for the parade veterans - what’s the best way to experience tmrw? Do you wait somewhere on Broad Street and then head to the Art Museum for the ceremony? Or would you advise something else - thanks

In 2018 I watched along broad and then ducked into a bar for the speeches, this year my wife and I are probably going to walk around and do some other site seeing qfter the parade passes us while everyone heads to the art museum and I'll catch the speeches later on the internet.

If he shows up, it's because he's an attention whoor. If he doesn't show up, it's because he's bitter and miserable the Eagles won. Par for the course.

Some of these fans. It's unbelievable

Unless something was taken out of contex, doesn't exactly sound like a ringing endorsement?

Just watched the Dick Vermeil Football Life.  The 1980 NFCCG was my first memory in my life sitting on my dad's lap when he told me that our team was the team in green and we hated the team with the star on their helmet.

Besides a trip down memory lane, it struck me that a lot of the things that Vermeil preached are the same things that Sirianni and the team talk about today...hard work, discipline, staying together, love of your teammates.

Yup because he was giving them out to former employees too

Id like that gamble as a Sweat replacement. The other 2 names do nothing for me. I dont see how they are not downgrades.
