You're right about that, he does look stiff. He's not my first TE option, but he's a weapon.

If he has a poor workout and we can snag him in the 6th Im all for it.

Id be concerned we overpaid in the top 3 rounds. He runs like someone with ankylosing spondylitis.

You should be ashamed of yourself

Howie could have just left it at "I cant comment on other players under contract". Or left it at "Eagles fans can be assured we'll check into anyone that's available" (forget the exact quote but something along those lines).

Saying what he said and then adding the patience part as well as next year "looking different" and "we view free agency from March up to the trade deadline" makes me think he's setting up the fan base to not expect anything splashy or big.

All the people hearing Howie and the Eagles are making a move could easily be Garretts agent speaking. Essentially a "hey the team that just won the SB two weeks ago is going to get the best defensive player in the NFL next" to light a fire under other teams.

To be fair, every year he says that improving the roster is year round. There are players cut or traded during camp and preseason. There are trade deadline moves.

It is different that he mentioned asking fans to be patient and that things will look different. I have a feeling he has had a plan in mind for a long time this season and there will be surprises. But anytime you win a SB and have a loaded roster - a good problem to have - you're going to have tough decisions to make about next steps. I want to be patient.

My biggest let down would be seeing Baun sign elsewhere.

They are dumping Kupp, and Stafford's numbers when he doesn't have both Kupp and Puka are very pedestrian -- like a mid 80s rating. And for all the talk about their offense with wonder boy McVay and Stafford, they scored 12, 19 and 13 points in the last 3 games played by the starters (yes, after putting a 40 burger on the Bills).

I'll wager they miss the playoffs in 2025.

Stafford relied too much on the other, lesser depth options last year, and forcing it a lot to Puka. I predict a big breakout for Whittington this season, with more time to earn the trust of his QB and coaching staff.

If he falls to the 6th, that would be incredible.

That's a great point. You have to wonder how much sway he will have. Fannin is a terrific talent.

I’ll have to check when I’m done work I thought there was an article or something I read somewhere about how close this guy and Fannin’s relationship was.

maybe thats whos pp he grabs after scoring TDs

Might be unpopular opinion, but I think there's a situation where Aaron Rodgers would have a productive, worthwhile 2025. That situation is not with the Giants.

Good. See how the draft goes first. I lean towards passing on that.

As long as he is scoring td’s he can do whatever he wants in his own life

Hey maybe he has that😄

There was a RB  few years back at Ut St. He had a couple 1000 yard seasons and looked like he might have a shot as a pro, but never materialized because he was born without an ACL in one of his knees, they mentioned it like every game, but it was enough to scare off all the scouts and he went undrafted.

I was like whats the big deal hes been playing his whole life without it and on a plus side you dont have to worry about him tearing that ACL🤷‍♂️

He also asked for patience and said the offseason may not look like what people expect.

I think what he meant by that is this. That the Eagles are going to sit on their hands for the couple months or so of free agency as far as signing players from other teams. Everyone will be panicky that they're letting it all slip away, but then he'll fill in with guys who are still out there after the deadline for when compensatory picks are counted. I think he'll be willing to let Becton, Williams, and Sweat (definitely the last two) walk, take the three comp picks and then wait til the summer before adding FAs who won't reduce the comp tally.

Barry gardner, quinton caver, matt mccoy, mychal kendricks all 2nd round picks under Reid/ Banner/ Howie.

So not out of the realm of possibility they could use a 2nd on LB.

Well you have to take Reid and Banner out of that, because they're gone and we have Howie. All those guys were drafted by Reid. (Yes Howie had the title of GM in 2010 but Reid was VP of Personnel and let's face it those drafts were his selections). Even if you want to give Howie credit for Kendricks in 2012, that's his only one in his tenure. The others you're going back 25 years to make the case. Look at corner, it took them 22 years to draft a corner in the 1st since Lito. Maybe it will happen at LB again but the odds aren't in that favor.

Now if they end up trading their 1st for Garrett, there's no way they use their first selection in the draft on a LB. They will draft a D linemen to replace all the guys leaving. Then you're looking at best a LB in the 3rd round, and Dean coming off yet another injury and Burks.

Re-sign Baun.

Isn't Aaron Rodgers saying or it being reported that he's brining Davante Adams with him wherever he goes?  Adams and Nabers could be a solid pairing

You cant get Garrett at the expense of Baun.

We have had great pass rush before and still got picked apart because the LBs were susceptible in the middle of the field, allowing for the quick passing game to dice us apart.

You only get max value out of an expensive Garrett trade by still having LBs.

I WANT Garrett and Baun.

But if I had to choose one or the other, then Ill take Baun, and a trade up for Campbell- a dominating pair of LBs combined with our already excellent DL that will still feature Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, and solid rotational players.

I am on board with a trade up for Campbell. It would keep this defense elite. Think he and Baun would easily be the best LB duo in football for a while. Get them together for 3 years, and then Baun passes the torch to Campbell.

My guess is he will not fall past 19 and the Bucs. A trade with the Seahawks to 18 should get it done. The point difference between picks 18 and 32 is 310. With rumors of Metcalf getting traded to Green Bay for pick 23, I could see the Seahawks interested in a move down scenario.

We don't know what the cost will be to trade or what his contract would look like. People are just scaring themselves out of it IMO

In what way is he already on the downward slope of his prime?

Career year for TFL and solo tackles. Top 4th year in combined tackles. Tied 2nd in his career sacks

I'm just going by logic.  He has been in the league for awhile, and while he is a freak of nature, his explosiveness after all that wear and tear will most likely not be there after the next few years.  When I say "downward slope," I don't mean he's hit a wall or even regressed yet, but previous studs at his position show that his best years are most likely behind him.

Easy pick up

Don't know about that. It's not a ton of money generally, but it is for a DT who plays less than 50% of the snaps. I don't think they like Davis all that much and I could see them declining it.

I heard that podcast on Spotify. He's low on all of them and way off on Becton.

My predictions hold from 2 weeks ago as:

Baun-3/45

Becton-2/25

Williams-3/63 or 4/84

Actually feel all can sign for higher, but not lower. Especially Becton, now that Trey Smith is off the market. Sweat is getting $18-20M, but of course won't be here.

If @RLC’s logic on Becton holds, then, with an Eagles home discount off the table, Becton’s number jumps up substantially.

He's still a projection. If his playoff success carries over to 2025, $12.9m is gonna seem like a bargain. Worst case, he's overpaid but still effective and helps out other guys. I think they grit their teeth and pick it up.

If you had a franchise that was really close to a championship (elite OL, Good D, Good WRs) but lacked a QB, Rodgers would be a good choice to push you over the edge and to win a ring.

Please give me the franchise that fits that description.

I think there's only 2 -- Vikings and Steelers.

Oh yeah. Becton's getting paid. 2/25M is a hometown discount. Could get around $15M now that Smith is off the market. That's too much for him for our situation. Will have to take Steen and hope he makes the jump. Think all the free agents will be overpaid unfortunately. They are at risk of losing all of them.
