Will a rookie be dependable enough? Ball security, blitz pickups, etc.? The talent is there but will coaches be able to rely on a rookie for all of the other aspects of the position? Who from this list makes Montgomery kind of sense? https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/_/year/2025/position/rb

I think the reality is that we can’t have a good veteran at every backup position. We need to go young in some spots. And veteran running backs aren’t likely to be as cheap as they were a few years ago.

This class is so deep that it presents an opportunity to get a good player with a non premium pick. I’d even be willing to use a top 100 pick for the right guy.

Simple answer would be they just made him the highest paid RB in NFL history and are expecting him to be here for the next few years. You think they are giving him the same workload?

I’m not saying he won’t have another great year. Just probably one where he doesn’t break 4 franchise records and 2 NFL records and become the first player in history to ever have two 2k yard years ever, let alone back to back.

Yeah true but they really didnt find their identity till after the bye so maybe they will get a head start this time and it will even out. 😄

Mostert is very intriguing, may be too costly. Elijah Mitchel isn't bad, Jordan Mason, Khalil Herbert, Emmanuel Wilson all aren't terrible either. There's more than a few in the draft. Another one that's heating up to me is Trevor Etienne.

Or do you simply ride out his rookie contract for 4 years and then let him walk for a Comp Pick?

So a 2025 second round pick for (let’s be conservative) a starter in 2027 and 2028 and a 2029 3rd round comp pick…

If we are looking at the team as having a 3 year window before the can kicking comes due, I’m not sure that really aligns with what I perceive as "the plan.”

I wouldn’t hate the pick, but you’d have to be really confident he can progress quickly in his development. The thing is, we already have Ringo, Ringo is younger, and Ringo already has 2 years in the system. Porter is a better athlete because of his hips and fluidity but otherwise they are a very similar profile.

I did a mock draft recently where one of these good RB fell to us in the third, and I drafted him.

I really am keen to the idea of grabbing a RB in 3rd or 4th again if one of these talented young guys is there, and odds are 1 will be with how deep this draft is

Get a bruiser like Blount. I can't say enough how perfectly that'd pair with Barkley

Anyone here ever order anything from Mitchell and Ness?

I ordered an Eagles item there a few weeks ago. The listing page said "Ships by February 20th" and when I ordered, the email I got said will arrive betwee Feb 25th and March 3rd. It still didn't ship. I noticed when I click on the order page from the email and click "Order History" for my account, it says "No orders to display"

So I emailed Mitchell and Ness(you can only email them now, they removed the 1800 number and the live chat from their website, thanks a like Michael Rubin) and they responded and said yeah your order is still good, but we are experiencing a delay in shipping, so be patient. They said we can cancel the order for you if you want. I said no, I want to keep my order, thanks.

Then later that night, I checked my bank account and I got a refund for my order.

I emailed Mitchell and Ness back and was like what's going on, I hope you didn't cancel my order, I specifically stated in the email please keep my order. And they told me it's not cancelled.

So I have no idea what's going on. The fact that my order is only accessible through email and not listed in my Order History makes me wonder if the order never actually went through it just appears in the system. And why the hell did they refund me.

Anyone here who has ordered from them in the past know what to make of this nonsense?

They may have billed you prematurely as most sites wait until the item ships to bill you. So you should get billed when the item ships, I would imagine.

Walter Nolen dropping to 34.

Man if he is there at Pick 32, I'd be doing back flips to the podium...

Shemar Stewart at like 28, Simmons at 35… plenty of good options at/near 32 according to DJ.

Steen is no slouch either, he played well when given the chance this year.

Steen may end up being most valuable as a tradable asset.

None of those guys are going to be available in my opinion.

Here's the trade. Jordan Davis and the Jets 3rd rounder next year to the Bengals. After thinking about it, didn't think our late 3rd rounder by itself is enough here. I absolutely do that deal.

Davis?  You’ve got to be kidding!  How do the Eagles stop the opposing Offense’s running game if Davis is gone?

I hope this is sarcasm

That list is his personal rankings. Teams will draft on their own rankings and go lower for need.

Too steep for an aging 1 year rental.

A conditional 2026 4th plus Huff for a 1 year rental works for me.  The condition would be that the 4th becomes a 3rd if Hendrickson signs an extension.

If I were Howie I would have no intention of extending Hendrickson.  Simply letting him go UFA and bring back a 3rd Round draft pick.

The win for Hendrickson is (1) the opportunity to chase a SB ring, (2) to have a contract year on the best Defense in the NFL, and (3) to be a free and clear UFA with a spectacular three year resume giving him leverage to get a superb final contract.

Howie gets an All Pro Edge for a SB quest and the shedding of the Huff contract and getting back the pick he gave out.

Win-Win-Win

We can’t afford Hendrickson just like we can’t afford Garrett.

I expect us to continue building through the draft and cheap FAs.  Splash moves aren’t realistic.

We absolutely can afford Hendrickson.  We just can’t afford to extend him.

I like hording draft picks, but at same time this DL is awfully young and needs a vet and leader. This is the perfect one and is actually available and looking for a championship contender I'm sure. He's a monster. Got plenty of 3rd rounders coming next year including compensatory picks. Can spare one I think. Not sure Davis is in long term plans here. So he's a sweetener to the deal. Don't want Redskins getting this guy. Howie can make these numbers work I believe on an extension.

I agree with your logic on all points but Davis.  Replace Davis with Huff.

New Eagles Super Bowl mic'd up

First of all Garrett is not openly available. Yet. And will cost major compensation. Second, when a player comes out like this seeking a trade and team let's him seek it like that, the Bengals will not get as much back and with only 1 year left on the deal. Also, Hendrickson will be picky here as well and not just chase money only, but pick a chamionship destination. Eagles will extend him I'm sure and give up way less compensation. He's a year older, but had 7 more sacks than Garrett the last 2 years. I like the value proposition here. Add to the great whites as well. This contract should come with less guaranteed money than you would pay for Garrett as well.

No extension

4 hours ago, Utebird said:

Hendricks is intriguing though, not sure id extend him though and not sure he wants to come somewhere for just one season.

He would come if he sees (A) the serious possibility of a SB ring, and (2) hitting the 2026 UFA market after a All Pro and Championship season.

4 hours ago, jojodancer said:

Oh no. He clearly wants a new contract. I have to think he's ring chasing here as well. Not just about money. This move takes the sting off of losing Williams and Sweat who may cost $40M in total. Hendrickson gets $16M next year and then new contract of around $30M per.

One year at $16M, then a 3rd round Comp Pick in return for him walking in 2026 Free Agency.
