If you're worried about physicality, toughness and violence from your Safety, just wait until Sydney Brown is unleashed...

Oh yeah, flags and missed tackles galore. Not to mention CJ made a ton of picks

I think it’s at least promising that the Eagles made an effort on Reid. It shows they aren’t destitute with cashing spending at the moment.

Agreed tho reports aren't always true.   I can see Justin Simmons brought in for cheaper as a backstop

Don't think the Eagles are spending another dime on any free agent RB. I think it'll be a day 3 pick. Perhaps an UDFA. Making Barkley the highest paid RB ever is a lifetime of money allocation to that position for them.

It’s impossible to get to the Super Bowl without CJ?

If it is true I have a theory it was instead of paying Reed.  I can't see them paying 2 safeties

So was Brett Toth

He's been on the Eagles years where they haven't gone to the Super Bowl.

Why not just keep CJ if we’re going to replace him with another similar cost FA? This all makes little sense unless there’s more to come about a souring relationship, holdout, etc

I don’t buy "Eagles were interested in x” anymore. It’s always every damn name.

Not this year. Who else have we been linked to?

If Slay signs elsewhere, does he count towards the comp picks?

You're being purposefully obtuse

He wasn’t on the team when they won the first Super Bowl, with MVP Nick Foles. BG and Johnson.

Oh, I’m definitely not the obtuse one here.

We have Kinnard. He’s the key to winning the whole damn thing.

Stout obviously sees something there. It’s not a terrible gamble, is it?

Sometimes it works out and you get Becton or a 5th for Dillard, and others it doesn’t like Warmack.

Apples to Oranges when comparing with Becton, imo.  Becton showed a lot of promise in NY when healthy.  Not to mention the move to guard for a tackle is typically a way for them to get a "fresh start” so to speak -  especially with very good coaching - which is exactly what happened with Becton.

Green is already a guard and hasn’t showed the same amount of promise that Becton showed while in NY.  And there won’t be a "fresh start” at a new position with him here.

That said, Stout is the "O-Line” whisperer so anything is possible.  I’m optimistic and most of the frustration that I have (along with most) is from losing CJGJ - has little to do with acquiring Green, tbh.

Not crazy about the CJGJ trade but I know little of the guard we got in return and maybe this means DeJean moves to S permanently, which is where I think he'll be at his best. We saw a big drop off with him gone two years ago, but we should be better positioned to rebound this time around. Hopefully.

If nothing else, the last couple days should be a sobering reminder for the "salary cap isn't real" crowd.

The Salary Cap is real for teams with as much talent as we had.

We didn't have a single hole on our starting 22 last season.  We went 7 deep on the OL and 9 deep on the DL.  We had 6 players named to first- or second-team All Pro - each team should average one and a half.  We had two DROY candidates.

BTW...Jurgens is the only All-Pro, Pro Bowl, DROY candidate that isn't under contract beyond 2025.

Which still makes the CJ trade a bit of a head scratcher. He must be a total pain in the ass

Blackmon is probably the best safety available. Whether they were seriously in on Reid who knows, but at least it shows they aren't ready to just gift wrap the job to an unimpressive wholly unproven Sydney Brown.

I really don’t get the griping over cash spending/cap or whatever you want to call it. The Eagles are the Yankees/Dodgers of the NFL and spend more cash than any franchise. They still have limits just like any other team/franchise/business. Enjoy it for what it is unless you want to go back to letting Reggie White walk over money days.

So that at least tells us they were making an attempt to sign someone else and have some type of plan (concepts of a plan?)

"Interested"  from a source. Sure.

Given that Green is on the final year of his deal in 2026, if Stout works his magic and turns Green into the player scouts hoped he'd be going into the draft, then he'll most certainly be traded a year from now(or just be a free agent if his player option is declined), because just like with Becton, the Eagles won't be able to afford paying 5 linemen that kinda coin.

Unfortunately, we may have a revolving door at that position for a while. Unless they draft someone there, which would certainly help. Which makes me think OG at 32 while not most likely, is more likely than Safety IMO. It would be nice to get a rookie contract stud in that OL to balance out the cost.

Becton is still in play…

But even if it turns out like you say with Green, it’s still major upside… a top 150 pick and a year or two of a good starter. That on top of the pick swap with the Texans and the cap space. That’d be a huge win. You can always draft a guy early in 2 years to stagger contracts/age.

I never thought they were nor do I think Ringo is their only plan at CB and I think they’ll get a DE as well

A former 1st round pick has value to it. I don't even know what you are arguing against. Its very low risk with a decent pay out.

Yes. 5 teams in 5 years.

I would have never guessed it would just be one signing of our guys at this point. Thinking we finally see the end of Lovato. If he asks for more than 1 dime over minimum wage, he's meat. 😂
