I think it’s fairly clear that Davis not only is disappointing for a 13th pick in the draft, but also someone that we burned other assets to secure him via trade up.

That doesn’t make him a bust or not a useful player, but you certainly would hope for more than a 1- and sometimes two-down player. He simply doesn’t play enough to be considered a hit at his draft slot. And he doesn’t play enough to have earned the fifth-year option either. Maybe that changes next season.

A fair take.

Grimes is resting vs Toronto tonight. Very good.

The thing is that neither Sirianni, Gannon, Steichen or Moore have a vote in this. It's up to the owners. Will the owners vote the way their coaches want them to? Stay tuned I guess.

The option is a bargain for what he provides

I guess for context Dalvin Tomlinson just signed a 2yr/$29M contract to play the nose for Gannon at age 31. He’s a run stuffer who gets about 3 sacks per year and plays about 50% of the snaps.

Kempski dropped the updated prospect visit tracker for the Eagles today. Donovan Jackson OL from Ohio St visited the Eagles, Kempski mentioned that if eagles are looking for a plug and play starter at RG that Jackson would be an option at 32.

I kinda figured Steen would just take that job, but I wonder if the Eagles don’t have much confidence in him. If they don’t I really don’t mind the idea of grabbing a RG at 32, it’s something I hadn’t thought of much cause I just assume it’ll be a DL at 32. But it’s an interesting thought & makes sense to do it

Donovan J played admirably at LT down the stretch, so there might be some versatility there.

I have always found a photo to be more reliable than a crystal ball.

Donovan Jackson can be a backup OT and OG, which matters. Very good prospect.

yeah. He and Savaiinaea are probably my preferred OL targets if we take one in the first 2 rounds.

I think you should check again because it was literally a Browns message board and a post from a random user. There is no article. But hey he got 5 likes and some replies to his post, so good stuff.

You could even just read the link which contains "Cleveland Browns” "Board” right in there.

The term 'article' is getting used more loosely now.

He's been here for 3 years now.  And he's not exceeded 45% of the snaps for any season.  20% as a rookie.  44% in 2023.  37% in 2024.  That's not great return on investment for a middle of the first round draft pick where they traded up to get him giving up extra resources.   It could be worse... but it could be better.  Hopefully he lives up to his physical tools in Year 4.

The Eagles gave up a 4th and 2 5th round picks to trade up to select Davis.   Ironically, the pick the Texans got in that trade was used to select the newly acquired Kenyon Green.  So... full circle I guess.

Yeah, but this song about a crystal ball is so much better than the crappy Def Leppard song about a photograph

yeah but the nickleback song about a photograph is an all timer.

I'd love to know what changed in the last year or two for there to be more support to ban the tush push. I guess the NFL just loves to over-officiate, but even more than that, they love a good storyline. More drama. There's no better time to ban it than right after we won the SB.

Really still a very long shot, but Pelicans won tonight so only a 2 game separation between them and the 6ers for 4th in the lottery. 6ers currently losing by a bunch to Toronto in the 4th quarter.

I hear you.  You make a good point.  However, since Fangio’s and Nick’s approach to the beginning each game is to neuter the opposing team’s running game, and (ideally) force that opponent to be one dimensional, then Davis is consistently a starter.  Once the opponent is indeed forced to abandon the run game in an attempt to catch up, that starting (domination) role is for the most part no longer needed.

It’s an odd situation, in the ‘base’ he’s a ‘starter’, but his snap count/percentage he’s on the field is pretty low considering the ‘investment’. I’d hardly call him a starter, but I’d also hardly call him chopped liver.  I’ve been highly critical of him, but he certainly has his role and excels at it most of the time.  He was supposed to be a Vince Wilfork/Ngata type of DT and he never ended up being that level where you dread taking him off the field as a DC.

Sounds like it's getting banned.

I’ve not gotten to really look too much into prospects…since S is a big need I’ve been looking at a few of the 2nd and 3rd round guys.  The PSU kid Winston Jr has stuck out to me as a guy who will have a long and successful NFL career.  Need some thoughts from people who watched a lot of Penn State.

I kinda thought the Luvu stuff would be the straw that broke the camel’s back. I’m sure that was embarrassing for the league.

You can be such a drama queen. They will be lucky to get 16 votes, let alone the 24 required to ban it.

Yeah, at this point he’s a very good good role player. He either needs to improve his conditioning (if that’s even the problem anymore) or improve his pass rush. He held an awesome win in the NFCCG. His sack in the SB wasn’t anything impressive.

Since he posted that, I believe the tush push is safe for another year.

But, the intense meeting with McVay is a little surprising. McVay was so supportive of Siri prior to the super bowl. Id expect him to respect what the eagles have done.

I just wish there was some required burden of proof. In the end, its as easy as having enough sore losers stomping their feet and yelling "thats not fair!" to get the play outlawed.

They argue about the chance for injury, which isnt supported by stats. They argue that its not a skill, yet no other team can do it as well as the eagles, so thats not supported by fact. They dont have a good argument. There is nothing they can prove to logically outlaw the play. But some day, whether its this year or another year or 2 down the line, it seems like there will be enough whiny babies to just get rid of the play because of their temper tantrums, and thats all it takes. That shouldnt be possible in a serious league.
