Garrett is a bridge too far, sticking with a war motif. Great player, no doubt, BUT: you get him, you lose all our other FAs to be. No Baum, Williams, Becton, and that’s just in 2025. More FAs get  squeezed out next year, and the year after. Jurgens? After that? Garrett is done and you’ve paid a heavy opportunity cost in young guys not signed because you gave up high picks as well as all that salary. Let Dallas get him.

You handle Garrett by running at him.  Was true at A&M and true with the Browns.

A lot of discussion about Ringo..  He is still younger than a lot of CB's in this draft (Jahdae Barron, Shavon Revel, Darien Porter, etc.)

I keep forgetting that Rodgers is a RFA. He’ll be back and the heavy favorite to start.

I'm a little confused by his RFA status. Spotrac has him as a UFA. Doesn't he have 4 seasons under his belt?

After what happened after 2022, I hope the process is better than "Well, he's here... and a lot of coaches are scooped up, so what the hell, let's do it"

So frustrating literally repeating mistakes of the past.  Last year we recognized we needed an outside voice and Sirriani less involved and now it looks like they completely forgot that and this time it will be worse because it's his buddy who will probably clash with Hurts and it will be mess to unravel

More importantly, the defense as a whole was way stronger than 2022.   The 2022 defense was feast or famine based on the front winning.  The back end was pretty weak... which was exploited in the Super Bowl.  That wasn't the case this past year, and a lot of the pressures came as a result of the sticky coverage.

This year’s defense was so much more battle-tested throughout the regular season and playoffs compared to 2022. I’ve posted it before but just look at the quality of QBs they played this year, had success against, and then look at the 2022 schedule and try to find who the best QB was until they played Mahomes in the Super Bowl. They weren’t ready for him in that game. They obviously were in this one and destroyed them.

I think Oren Burks will stay. Perfect depth LB who played well here.

I think the Bradberry experience is going to make Howie take a long look at paying another aging cornerback. Maybe Slay has another good year left, but it’s better to roll the dice and use that money elsewhere (namely making sure Baun is back no matter what).

I think that is why he put that poison pill in Slay’s contract.  My guess is they decline it and make Slay a free agent with a return offer in his pocket. But even with his speed, 35 years old is a huge gamble.

I keep seeing this but I don't understand why. He has 4 accredited seasons (2020, 2021, 2022, 2024). I don't see what makes him a RFA

Same. I don't get it. Other sites have him as a UDFA too

But others keep saying RFA.

Makes no sense to me since he has 4 full years. Britain Covey should be the only RFA.

And give up your banner unveiling Week 1?

Was it 21 not 22?  I'll be honest, I wasn't really paying close attention then.  You are probably right.

That said, I still haven't seen it from Ringo yet.  The opportunities haven't been there.  And if they are so high on him... they went out and brought in 3 different CBs who all immediately passed him on the depth chart.  So, I take the Ringo hype with a grain of salt.

You aren’t watching the All22. Ringo, despite a little hip stiffness, does a real nice job of mirroring.  As the season went along, I finally saw him trusting the level of contact allowed in the NFL, basically much like in basketball, hand checking.  Now he needs to trust that contact and play the ball reaction.  Can you imagine what it is like to cover AJ (best delayed reaction to the ball since Largent and maybe better than him) and Devonta (that step is impossible, it’s like Marvin Harrison SR)?   That has to make him better.  He was so talented but so green when drafted.  He just needs to play the ball.  It’s sink or swim time for him. At the very least, he seems ready for Rodgers’ spot on the team, if not Slay’s.

That said, Rodgers may not chase money like he said he wouldn’t.  I think he appreciates Howie taking a chance on him and I would bet the Eagles pressed for his reinstatement (something that might not have been possible with the new gambling rules). Remember how his reinstatement was later than the others with gambling suspensions?  I suspect team support in not erring again played a role in his reinstatement and something the Eagles are pretty damn good at when they want to be. Hence the loyalty comment post Super Bowl.

McCollum and Sydney Brown were burned.

Ringo does look good.  But Rodgers looks good and like more of a play maker.

The Ss stayed in prevent and Mahommes took advantage.

It will be interesting to see. Howie never really had to manage a big QB contract in all his years. Outside of Wentz which was cut short by unusual circumstances it's either been rookie contracts or guys toward the end of their career.

I'm not sure Howie goes 7 years or sets the precedent of reworking a contract with 4 years left.

Yup. NFL Network does this with Rapaport too.

Did not know that... that's a layup in terms of decision making.

I agree.  Especially with Dean’s injury
