I don't think it's productive to nitpick a well executed play.

While people may debate the perfectness of the play, the debate itself is indeed a perfect encapsulation of the Blog. That cannot be debated.

Perfect post.

Don't people nitpick all plays? Discuss whether a play could have gone a certain way if a defender did this or that or if they receiver did something differently?

People want to make something facts based on opinions so much

Matt would never advocate the use of "nitpick".

Not to this degree. Usually if its anything it’s ’the defender almost got a hand on the ball’ not a Zapruder film analysis

It was understated.

Where does Barkley's 2024 rank in terms of all time great individual Philly sports seasons?

Anyone still have McCaffrey ranked above Barkley as best RB in the NFL?

Wilt's 50 ppg season with the Warriors or Carlton in 1972 come to mind.

It was good, but the T in "the Blog" should have been capitalized. Otherwise the b should have been lowercase.

Guys… Devonta could have stemmed his route a tick better. Barkley could have sold the play action a little longer.

NOT A PERFECT PLAY.

Imagine if he over threw it.. Then he would be MVP caliber

I see that you are still trying to bend over backwards to try and discredit ManuManu anyway you can. As predicted, it's going to continue to be a very difficult time for you all over the next 20-30 years.

I hope his continued high level of success doesn't wear on you all too much.

Manu2 is a more efficient username.

Rank the follow plays:

The Dagger

Vid

The Philly Special

Vid

The Strip Sack

Vid

  1. The stripsack - BG coming up big when we desperately needed a stop there. It's just iconic.

  2. Can't touch dis - Coop's pick was just a brilliant play by a rookie in the biggest game on the biggest stage

  3. Philly Philly - a big cojones moment - The penultimate "We're here, let's make it count moment"

  4. GTFO - The image of Jordan Davis wrecking Mahomes face just puts a stamp on the dominance

  5. #me2 - Baun's pick was the first time I thought, "Oh, snap, we got this"

  6. The dagger - Untitled.jpg

Leonard gets too much of a bad rap for how it ended. A generous man whom the casinos in AC took advantage of.

He Started the Ronald McDonald House, and that has benefitted unknown numbers of families over the decades.

Overall I think Tose was a good owner. He made some poor decisions early on with Retzlaff, Williams, Khyatt, and especially McCormack. But he struck gold with Vermeil and was generally well like by people in the organization. He wasn’t a cheapskate. The way it ended — blowing money at the casino and forcing him to move the team to Phoenix — kinda distorts things.

The ball was slightly underthrown - allowing the defender to get his arm into the catch point. Smith was ahead of Watson by two yards when the ball was thrown.

Watson puts his hand a little more to the right, he breaks up the pass.

It was pretty clear he broke stride to keep from out running the football. Still perfect play by Slim, tracking the ball, making the adjustment and the catch. Then for style points, the flip to the ref.

That Hurts' throw was 50+ air yards. I don't really see how you can call that underthrown.

Slow time of the year, eh? Debating about how perfect that pass was or not was certainly not on my bingo card.

He may have been a little light on that throw but this one was pretty spot on.

Okay, so…have you ever left an Eagles related message for your future self to read? I do it every October when I take down some outdoor stuff for the winter. I have an Eagles sign that hangs on the fence all summer long. What I generally do when I bring it in the house for storage is leave a little post-it note on the back side that I can read the following spring.

This is what I found yesterday:

"Taken down 10/14/24. Eagles 2-2 on bye. Not playing well. Should improve but may not. We will see!”

Who would have thought they would only lose ONE game the rest of the regular season and would go on to win the Super Bowl?!!!

You learn something new every day. @FranklinFldEBUpper would remember Fred Hill and be able to cite his statistics.

I remember him and know what number he wore but I don’t recall him being anything special as a player. Kind of a backup to Gary Ballman, as I recall.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of posters haven’t seen High Noon. Westerns were pretty much dead by the 1970s.

One of my favorites when I was a teenager. I even had a picture of Gary Cooper (in that role) hanging on my bedroom wall. I still have it. Great movie. And it has Grace Kelly, perhaps the most gorgeous actress ever.

The quest for perfection is often the enemy of the good.

That's because people chasing perfection are chasing an illusion. True perfection is fleeting moments where someone settles into the zone and the world around dissolves into nothing as total focus is achieved. It's Nick Foles in the Super Bowl. It's Coop being aware enough to jump that route. It's Goddert refusing to be denied against Green Bay. It's Slim catching the dagger. It's AJ just about every damn time he touches the football and it's Barkley streaking down the field leaving the world behind.

True perfection is not obtained by the elite. It's obtained by the flawed who dare to reach for it.
