5-2 with 10 to go shouldn’t be a must win, but at some point the team is what it is. Getting swept by the Gmen, would be a strong indication that collectively this team doesn’t have what it takes to position itself well for the playoffs or once there string together the consecutive wins necessary to get back to the Super Bowl.

You’re assuming he’s complaining about the team because that fits your narrative. Normally no but this isn’t a normal schedule. Good chance the team is a good bit better down the road as the D will evolve. Guess it depends on the OL getting healthier.

ehhh.... I sorta agree, but having the giants twice in 3 weeks doesnt really allow a lot of time for this team to morph in to something different. The best we can hope for is incremental improvements.

Hurts found the explosive plays in abundance last week. Now, I would love to see consistency on a drive by drive basis for the passing game. And even more importantly from the last Giants game- improved run D.

Id agree with you more if these 2 Giants games were spaced further apart. But playing them twice in 3 weeks is really just a snapshot. That cant define a team.

I do believe we win this one. But Im not sure itll be all that pretty yet.

Offensively we stink out loud running the ball, I don’t see that changing. I fully expect NYG to rush 4 and look to take away the shot plays, so this will be a good test for our ‘new’ passing offense (I don’t think it’s really new, but we are more reliant on it now without the big Saquon runs).

Defensively, while I’m a not Campbell is an edge guy - I do like the 3LB dynamic in this game vs Skattebo and more importantly containing Dart. We don’t need quick pressure per se, but we can’t have the QB running wild.

If the 2-5 Giants are an obstacle that can’t be overcome, then we are going to need more than incremental improvement.

In 1 weeks time, even 3 weeks time, incremental improvements dont amount to much.

I guess Toth fits in the jack of all trades, master of none place. I think the reason why he's a hot topic is he'll be playing Center against a good DL, and he has no real long term experience of that position. It looks like he struggles with shotgun snaps, so at some point, you have to question why he's got that elevated spot on the roster. He seems a good hard working dude and has had a longer than average NFL career, but even so.

I’m confident with Vic and the players returning from injury, we’ll see the defense improve. We might even see a jump if Bennet is just adequate or Howie gets help at the trade deadline that pays off.

I’m just not as confident offensively, as without a run game I’m not seeing the path to the consistent production needed to outscore the better teams and salt away wins. (Losing to the Giants would be more evidence on this side of the ledger).

The answer to your question is because he is ahead of the competition. That's how he got there.

Lets see where that all evolves. The eagles last week began passing from under center. And using unbalanced lines with the extra OT, instead of calculator. Offense will take a while to evolve.

Barkley still has a terrible per carry average, but theres been a few runs each week where hes looked pretty close to breaking one. Theyll get a little healthier after the bye. And, theyre making the passing game a better threat so defenses cant focus so much on the run.

It may not be the dominant run game that carried us all year last year. But if the passing game becomes proficient, it wont need to be.
