I think Chubb does, but obviously not to the extend of a Garrett, Hendrickson, Crosby, Parsons...

I'm with you on this one. Chubb is an upgrade especially since Nolan Smith's health for the remainder of the year seems iffy and BG replicating his brief peak from last year for any extended snaps also seems iffy

Chubb and Jaelen Phillips fall into the category for me where I think both are good, but not major impact guys and it wouldn't surprise me if either came here and had a very quiet stint here where they didn't produce a ton because they're not dominant players. And then I go if you have to give up a 3rd for either of them I may rather just give up like a 6th for Calais Campbell or Chase Young. They'll probably give you 90% of what Chubb or Phillips do at a far lesser cost.

So this week we got a peeing in the blue tent story, stoutland’s wife baking and now…

Jenn Sherman, another instructor, is a huge Eagles fan as well. I actually bought the thing at the EAF auction to take a class with her and Sydney Brown after the season. I'll ask Syndey to teach me the flying kick move on kickoff coverage...

Chubb's contract is much more palatable with a min salary and no guarantees after this year -- would cost about $665k this year on the Eagles' cap, and then you release him in the offseason.

Phillips is on a 5th year option, so his salary is $13,251,000, and the 2025 cap hit for the Eagles would be just over $7mm (9/17ths). However, you could ask Miami to restructure his salary into an option bonus if they want a better pick. Also, Phillips contract will expire, so he'd count towards the comp pick formula. Chubb wouldn't count for comp picks since we would release him.

I'd do a 5th for Chubb, or a 4th for Phillips if Miami eats the cap hit.

I dont see a problem with it.

If the NFL/NFLPA wants to make a rule that a team can only request that if the dead cap is over x amount then thats fine too. That way not all teams can say that to every player who wants a trade.

That's circumventing the salary cap and will also never happen

@vikas83 and @LeanMeanGM done a good job breaking down Aj brown’s contract. Along with that suggest watching spotrac video where he explains that contract, trade and why 2026 was always the line of demarcation with this new extension

Is that April Ludgate?

I wish Howie would just give me my dopamine hit for the week

oh yeah? I guess so... But circumventing the cap is legal as long as you have found a loophole which isnt closed yet. The eagles have always found ways. If there is no rule against this yet, then its not illegal.

Did I just hear you criticizing Mike Vrabel again?

Definitely wouldn't trade a 3rd or even a 4th for a rental and I think/hope Howie wouldn't either.

I'd do a 4th for Phillips assuming he'd bring back a comp pick in 2027. Maybe a 5th or 6th.

Yeah, I dont like trading away a lot of assets for Garrett and then having to deal with his contract which impacts the ability to resign/sign players in the future.

Chubb and Phillips will provide some more punch on the edge. Both are bigger players than Uche, Smith, Ojulari. Chubb body type is more in the mold of BG and Phillips more like Sweat. Both seemed to be playing hard last night despite the wreck of a team around them. I did note that Chubb was really hustling out there. Considering the contract and composition of the team, I think Chubb makes more sense for this year. Phillips would make more sense if you think you want to sign him to a new contract which I dont think they would want to do.

Garrett's cap hits for the Eagles are very manageable through 2028, and you'd cut him after that year and take $52mm of dead money in 2029. 2029 is when we are tanking and have a crapload of dead money that will hit (Hurts if not extended being the massive one at over $90mm).

Would moving on from Davis help secure Garrett? ph34r

Howie has traded 3rd and 4th round picks at the deadline for far worse.

He would and has.

Everyone so concerned on the cap space if we somehow, miraculously land Garrett. Don’t worry, Howie got it. I highly doubt he’d make a move of that magnitude without a plan in place.

Am I the only one in here silently wishing if we're making a splash trade for an EDGE that it'll be Maxx Crosby and not Myles Garrett?

image.png

If there's a splash trade I hope it's Hendrickson. Won't cost a first and is as good as Crosby. Also has a knack for performing in big games. But I don't think Crosby or Garrett are getting traded. If the Bengals lose Sunday it's possible, but no one's running away with that awful division so they may not deal Hendrickson either. I just think that is more likely than Garrett or Crosby because Hendrickson isn't long for Cinci so there's logical incentive to move him.

Bleacher Report has that was the one trade that makes sense for the Eagles:

Philadelphia Eagles: Acquire edge Trey Hendrickson from the Bengals

They already got their cornerback in Michael Carter II, so it's possible the already-stacked Eagles will stand pat despite their issues this season. But a splash with Hendrickson in a walk year still makes plenty of sense for a team that has struggled up front defensively and knows what it faces as the defending champ.

I rarely think like this but Maxx Crosby was born to be a Raider. He shouldn’t go anywhere.

He’s also not a lock HOFer like Garrett is

You land Garrett, most of your front 7 is locked up pretty good for a good 2.5 years from now. 1st world problems after that. Regardless, you lock up Coop, Q and JC. I think there's room for all of that with Howie. Are we looking to be elite in the short-mid term is my question? The offense has elite talent and I don't worry about. These Superbowl windows aren't forever. I think we are good long term anyway with all the draft picks we will accumulate with McKee, Brown and compensatory picks. Embarassment of riches here. And you need to take your shot.

The other point here is with Garrett here you have a hedge with production on the defensive line and don't go in the tank when JC is out. The guy plays on both sides of line and moves around as well. Line is too one man dependent right now.

Take 1 minute and 56 seconds to listen to Smitty.

Not at all ....... but I do wonder how effective a defense can be with SO MANY white people on it .....

Ignore this. Also ignore AJ Brown saying he loves Philly, wants to be here, and it's his home.

Only pay attention to the cryptic instagram posts and sideline facial expressions. Those are the things that matter most.

He has and I'm hoping he's learned from past mistakes.

What believable evidence is there that Howie was going to trade a package to the Cowboys for Parsons?
