He apologized, ok. He also had his sideline moment jawing with the HC last year while being held back by his position coach. He was also benched last year for being late to meetings. He also had that weird interaction with a player, I can't remember his name, threatening his kids and family. He's had his opportunities to mature and he has not taken them.

There was an interaction during training camp a month ago where Jurgens put him on the ground. He responded by getting up and clubbing his teammate and starting C on the side of the head that almost lead to a fight. He's immensely talented but he's a hot head.

I'm not advocating he should be suspended by the team. It isn't even my opinion the team should do something. All I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised if he's benched for the first quarter next week. I'm not sure the coaches can or will just move on and let it go. Keep in mind he's set for a massive contract next offseason so the time is now to get him straight and under control before that type of commitment is made. He's going to be getting some type on internal punishment whether from his HC or his DC. Letting them decide what is appropriate is trusting the coaches and leadership.

Tbh my biggest concern with Carter has and will always be maturity and if he can keep his head on straight especially once he gets his second contract. I truly believe if he can keep himself on the field and not do stupid things off the field he will be a better player than Fletcher Cox by the end of his career. And that is an accomplishment as Fletcher Cox is one of the best defensive players in this organization over the last 25 years.

I had concerns about Carter's behavior going into the season. IMO, it's part of why Davis' fifth year was picked up. He needs to be controlled. Looking forward to his contract extension, I would expect plenty of behavior clauses.

Good news @LeanMeanGM

He's heading down Albert Haynesworth territory. The one thing he has going for him vs. Fat Albert... he seems to care more about the game and plays hard, whereas Fat Albert got the big check and then literally was just lying around out there at times.

I remember when Haynesworth raked his cleats across a DAL O-Lineman exposed forehead while he was on the ground, his helmet had come off. Cut him pretty bad....that dude should have been kicked out of the league.

During the play, Cowboys center Andre Gurode fell to the ground, and his helmet was removed by Haynesworth, who then attempted to stomp on Gurode's head, but missed. A second stomp opened a severe wound on Gurode's forehead, narrowly missing his right eye.

We had five issues on D to address: Edge, DT depth, LB, CB2, and S.

  • We saw flashes from the edge guys. Smith and Hunt look like a solid pair of starters. Concerned that the two "O" guys didn't dress.

  • I think the four DTs that played were 'fine'. IMO, it's like a batting order in baseball. When you play guys in the role they practices all week, it will look good. When they have to move into a different role on game day, is will look sub-optimal.

  • Campbell is as advertised.

  • Ugh! Jackson isn't the guy. Maybe Bennett. Or just put Ringo out there for the athleticism.

  • I didn't see anything glaring, but would be interested in what the film shows regarding Makuba.

We only swung and missed at one out of five. And it's only week 1. And we have Vic.

Uche looked very good. Rush just couldn’t finish. But losing Carter was monstrous - he got Williams paid, and I think JD and Ojomo did well having to basically play every snap (break probably helped JD). Losing Carter, over 100 penalty yards, and AJ being gimpy - was a gutty win. I thought we were screwed when Carter got tossed.

Just give Bennett a shot next week.

Callers on WIP today pleading for Jalen Carter to get professional help.

What a bunch of Fing dorks.

I'm not sure if others saw it, but sometime before the Eagles went up 21 - 17, Diggs ran up to Hurts and started jawing at him right in his ear. Hurts was just trying to jog back to the huddle and Diggs was all over him right next to him. This didn't set well with Barkley, because shortly Barkley proceeds to plow Diggs over for the TD and you see him give Diggs a pat on the back and mock him. Kind of similar to what he did against Jared Verse in the playoffs.

The agony of victory on the EMB. Reminds me of last season

lol..yup...the Blog almost made it twelve hours before the resident trolls made their appearance

believe @ManuManu said ojomo was on the ground a lot last night. The second tweet he’s on the ground almost every time

Tbh i thought Davis got better as the game went on. I thought early he was not doing well on run defense side which really was more surprising cause his pass rush was adequate. He was much better vs. run as game went on.

John Smoltz

Donovan McNabb

Jalen Carter

All 3 needed/need a sports psychologist.

Smoltz got the help he needed to focus and be in the moment on the mound and became an all-time great starter and relief pitcher

McNabb got no help and he brought the dirty 30 and Rush Limbaugh, WIP, boos, etc.. in his head to every game. He was worm burning and over excited and goofing off instead of being a focused QB and leader.

I think Carter could really use some tools to focus his rage to ONLY during the plays.

Can't believe he didn't score here. Baun gave a few extra yards with the punches but still a critical play to close in and stop him.

He outright sucks now, he was never more than mediocre. He was the product of a great OL here and parlayed that into a contract in Carolina where he immediately lost the starting job

Furthermore they weren’t very good last year.

This is exactly why I support the trade of Parsons. Someone here said it last week, DAL wasn't going to win this year with or without Parsons, no need to be Cap strapped with another 45+ million $ player. Get some return and start the rebuild...I don't care if it is 2 late 1st rounders, it's an opportunity to move forward with some cap relief. Could have been better if he they did it in March, but they thought they had a future together at that point. I honestly believe, as great as Parsons is, and I am a fan of his, that DAL will end being better because of this trade in the long run, even with Jerry being the GM.

Last night they (idiots on TV) made so much of Parsons not being a part of the DAL D and the impact it had on the game...BS. Parsons would not have decided the outcome of that game last night, he may have determined the outcome of one or two games in his time at DAL...but it was very rare. He's a great pass rusher, that's it, full stop.

Yep. I want him to play angry and nasty. He needs to learn how to walk the fine line of doing that while keeping yourself in control and not being a dirty player.

You get offended Dak spit at your direction? Pummel him between whistles. The only thing that's going to stop him from being great is himself.

Carter needs a real psychologist.

Berman said play action was 18% of the offensive plays.

Also saw this last night about motion

There was some motion but there didnt seem to be any purpose behind the motion, just arbitrarily sending a guy in motion to say we ran motion .

Whats his face OC last year seemed to run motion with a purpose, misdirection,to get the defense looking somewhere else, or diagnose the D or set up a play later, I dont remember hurts sending a guy in motion then calling an audible or seeing some morion that was designed as misdirection

Most of the motion was hurts telling a receiver to move his split a yard in or go to the other side of the formation like they were lined up wrong.

It just seemed the motion they did run didnt have much purpose

IDK man, if he has a full mental health breakdown then what? I am not trying to start some bs, but hear me out. What if his teammate losing his life in the speeding/racing incident as well as his involvement in that, hasn't been dealt with psychologically? I am not saying that is his problem, but I could see where that might mess with a persons emotions and actions until it is dealt with. Just something to think about/consider.

You think Dom can be his psychologist too?

Uche has some serious juice. That quick win on the inside move was good stuff.

@Joe Ball trading him was not terrible on its own but not trading him before the draft to get a lower round 1 pick immediately and a bigger total return package is just incompetence.

probably the guy who looked the best over expectations. He’s gonna be legit with Fangio.

I gave the Smoltz example. Lets go next with Mike Vick.

He was on Roy Firestone and my wife walked by the living room, stopped for 20 seconds and asked "who is the moron that can't speak?"

Arthur Blank got him some speech therapy and now Vick works as a studio analyst. He is an articulate person now.

(yes, the other stuff was terrible and prison was deserved)

The Eagles and Carter have a real opportunity to help him become a better version of himself.

He should embrace some kind of therapy as a way to make him a better player and to get a bigger payday.
