EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Having the 2 seed means you have 2 home games in the playoffs (if you win) and could play the NFCCG in Philly if the 1 seed gets knocked off. Literally what happened last year

The path to the 2 seed goes like this:

Win out

Packers beat bears and lose to ravens or Vikings

Bears lose to packers then lose to either SF or Lions.

Or

Win out

Packers lose to bears, win out

Bears beat packers and lose last 2 games.

Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

It has been a strange year, I still stand firm in my pre-season prediction of PHI being in the NFCCG at a minimum.

And Cowgirls will be sitting on their couches per the norm., with Jerry laughing at you all and doing his ritual.

I’d still rest my injured rather than playing them especially the OL and Carter. Wouldn’t play any starter week 18 either but you can try the next two weeks and see where you are

Understood When I added TD after Goedert I got "Hurts tush push and Goedert TD, Defense 2 turnovers" Goedert TD was a winner. Hurts tush push TD was not, but there was a Hurts tush push. Did you mean the former or the latter? The Defense prediction was not correct, so you will get recognized as partially correct. The only question will be were you 1/3 right or 2/3s right.

No, I meant Hurts tush push TD. Goedert with the other TD.

Sorry for the confusion. But, glad I was wrong.😬

Frankly just win the commanders game so we can clinch the division. Worry about Buffalo after that. That said it’s supposed to be high 30s and rainy in Buffalo.

It's crazy today was the last game at the Link until next year.

i'd say...win in Wash, battle it out for the confidence in Buffalo and give starters a bye week the last game, even if there would be a theoretical chance for the 2nd seed...I believe the rest during the bye is more important than uncertain 2nd seed

NFL did us no scheduling favors. We didn’t have back to back home games all year. Add on we’ve played 2 Thursday night games, 1 Friday and 1 Saturday game.

What a truly wonderful day. Eagles win, Dallas loses, Chiefs eliminated.

We got the one decent cowboyz fan on here and you just want to kick him in the balls a bunch. Give him a break, maybe!

Remember when the only way you would get a forecast out that far was from the Farmer's Almanac? 🤣

Crazy year. Anyone that gets in can win. No clear favorites. Refs still need ti be investigated.

My bladder woke me up to the glorious news of a cowboys loss 🤣🤣

Fighting chance with minshew (?) 🤣😭😭

I’d be really shocked if they went back to back offensive lineman. They could use a tackle that can swing inside and play guard. But really where along the starting offensive line are you going to place your first and second round pick? Dickerson and Jurgens are here for a couple more years. contract basically forces you into that. IMO think jurgens will be better a year removed from his surgery. Jordan Mailata is not going anywhere. Tyler Steen is the only one currently that’s not under contract after 2026. So you could go get a guard and a right tackle, but frankly neither one of those guys is likely starting next year. I don’t see them doing that with potential holes at no. 2 Corner, potentially DE depth, nothing at TEnand potentially needing another safety if Blankenship leaves.

Lane is either retiring, or if we're lucky, staying one more year. So that needs to be addressed regardless. And RG needs an upgrade.

If I took the Delorean and traveled back to the beginning of the season and told everyone, "We will take a step back from last year but it will be a double digit win season and the Eagles will have a chance to break the Historic NFC East Division Champion streak by beating Kenny Pickett and Marcus Mariota". I think most would sign up for this. Just take care of Washington and then the last two games of the season we can do whatever we want.

A couple things

Lane’s contract if he retires after this year is difficult on the eagles cap/dead money. @vikas83 or @LeanMeanGM can discuss that in better detail. He signed a 1 year extension in March. Kind of feels like they did that believing he was likely going to play in 2026. That doesn’t mean either way they shouldn’t address that spot. They can get a OT high that also has versatility to play guard so you have a guy who can take over for lane at some point but also compete with steen

Isaac seumalo didn’t hit his stride to year 4. 2019 was his best season during his rookie contract. This is the first year Tyler steen has consistently started. Similar to seumalo who couldn’t fully win the job/didnt become a consistent starter til year 3 then made a solid jump in his 4th year as the starter. seemingly there was always a discussion about upgrading from Seumalo. There’s a reality where steen gets better after having started this year and comes back better after this year. I also think they address guard but might not be til round 4-5. Doesn’t have to be rounds 1-3

That said steen is a FA after 2026. So they need to address that spot at some point. Doesn’t mean they have to do it in the draft. The eagles signed guys in FA before : Evan Mathis, Brandon brooks and Becton in FA. Do not just have to go OL back to back or 2 out of first 4 picks. Multiple ways to accomplish it. They have FA where we’ve hit but also they have stoutland who they trust. this is the first year since 2020 the OL hasn’t been great (2020 wasn’t but also had a ton of injuries along the OL. Entire team was a dumpster fire that year). I tend to think the eagles believe stoutland is capable of making Lampkin, Kendall, Williams and Hinton into at least competent back ups. Add on i don’t think it’s out of the question they also believe in stoutland being able to develop one of those guys into playing a significant role. Stoutland and OL having a down year but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to continue to they don’t trust stoutland to do his job and be able to bounce back in 2026. He’s been able to be good for 4 out of last 5 years. Tend to believe the eagles trust in stoutland’s track record over the long haul and not his first down year in 5 years as his new norm.

The hardest of those things will be Eagles winning out. Packers and Bears should fall into those scenarios pretty easily, IMO.

The backups should beat a Commanders team competing for draft position anyway.

Seumalo is an interesting one. I’d go as far as to say he really wasn’t good during his rookie contract. Late bloomer. The retrospective analysis on a player who turns into a very good starter on contract 2 and was really never that good during the rookie deal…how do you evaluate the success of the pick? Part of the value of draft pics is getting guys to outplay their cap number and Seumalo never did that on his rookie deal.

Secondary to that…we’ve had some nice success on the OL, but it shows that the position isn’t plug and play. Dickerson was. Mailata (different story given background), Jurgens, and Steen all took years before getting in the lineup. We are overdue for Lane’s replacement, even if he plays in 2026.

The eagles should be able to beat the commanders twice. They stink but then again i don’t think can take anything for granted with this eagles team. Frankly just want to win next Saturday clinch the division then worry about seeding after that. That said weather conditions for the Buffalo game is going to be crap.

That's just silly.
