Maybe run a rub route there? Actually, I don't think Patullo understands what a rub route is a d why it can work.

A rub route into a zone? Ummm no! The defense is stationary, reading QB eyes and guarding area, not players. Rub routes bring two players to a defender...that's dumb. They are useful against M-M, not zones. But even more stupid is 4 WRs running vertical routes to a defender and then turning around...effectively covering themselves up. That idiot OC has spent an entire season running this same stupidity multiple times a game....

Yet how many penalties were called when the Eagles got big plays on offense? How many penalties to extend 49er drives? Yeah the bias against the Eagles from the NFL is blatantly obvious it has been all year.

Yup. Happened twice in this game. Two first downs calked back due to penalty. Instead of a first down it was 1st and 20. Drive killer.

AJ Brown is the best WR in Eagles history and had a down year coming off a Super bowl where he gutted out a playoff run needing to have his knee drained in between games and people turn on the guy like that. Have some Fing perspective FFS.

OC I think, because frankly hiring Daboll as HC would probably be a bad idea. I admit, I do hope that goes over okay with Barkley though?

Did he and Barkley not get along?

who knows if Chris Johnson Jr is draft eligible this year?

If you get McDaniels as the HC, you probably want an Achane type RB because the dolphins never really have a run game, but they do get explosive plays out of it when they do run.

Wait, I haven't watched the Dolphins, is that accurate?

So you're saying that McDaniels has to re-invent Hurts, or we're Fed? Like utterly Fed?

OC is gone

If that proves objectively true, it's time to retire from Eagles discussion for me unfortunately. I usually come off pretty annoyed but it's because the last year and a half, while very fun from a football standpoint, has been absolutely 0 fun in terms of discussion. It has never been worse during my time here. It was better during 2020 and 2012, when we only won 4 games.

I would prefer everyone stays. But if you do go, dont make it a permanent retirement. Take a hiatus until Hurts is gone. He is the polarizing figure responsible for almost all disagreement. Him directly, as well as how much he muddies the picture of how much coaching is to blame. When they get a new QB, things will clarify and become much less polarized.

Most 4th quarter lead changes in NFL playoff history (over 90 years) and it’s only 4 games in!

They’re so obvious about it they almost want people to know it’s becoming "sports entertainment”

They can’t even throw in a blowout or boring game to make it seem realistic. lol

And yet we all watch.

HC or OC?

OC. I don't think they'll fire Sirianni unless he refuses to fire Patullo. And I don't think he'll refuse.

After the 1st round exit....we can all say it:

While less theatrical, this team had a LOT of 2023 to them. Wins against the Raiders and Commanders were the only real difference. And a playoff game that was closer.

He is at the same point as Alshon Jeffrey was when he dropped the pass to end our playoffs. He didnt totally look washed, and he wasnt all that old. But there were signs.

The last AJ drop was a rub route. A poorly timed one that drew defenders to the route.

I didn't hear anything about them just not getting along, but you have to consider just how poor of help from blocks he got during his time there, so it kind of depends on how it all goes. I have to admit that if it worked out it'd be funny continue the 'Taking from the Giants to go to the Super Bowl' meme.

Had 1000 yards in a down year. Shows how good he is. With a real OC I have no doubt he will bounce back.

I think Howie / Lurie will only hold the KP hire against him. KP is clearly a Siri hire and the worst OC he has had in his HC career so its a big miss. He was the first guy that came with him from Indy. Btw, Steichen was also a Siri hire given their working history before. He is 1 - 1 on OC's where I think he has been the primary person driving the process.

We all agree that Kellen Moore certainly had more organisational involvement. I also think Brian Johnson was a broader organisational appointment and of course Siri had a part in that - they had just lost Steichen and the Eagles moved to secure their QB coach coming off a prolific year from their young franchise QB. He was seen as being important to Hurts and was also originally brought in more by Howie given the relationship he already had with Hurts. Just because it was internal, doesnt mean it was just a Siri call while any external hire is Howie / Lurie.

When discussing hiring Brian Johnson, it is important to not overlook the factor of trying to hire guys who if later got hired as OCs would give the Eagles two 3rd round picks. I think it drove the Eagles decision as both OC and DC in 2023. Still I think Sirianni had a bigger level of sign off enthusiasm than most suspect.

I know, bad game to defend AJ and pick him over the QB.

Yeah, it was an awful game for AJ Brown. However, when he had that drop then went to the sideline and they had that blowup between him and Nick that can’t happen. AJ Brown cannot do it because you know all the cameras are good to get it. That is not the time nor of the place. It’s a in the locker room discussion. It was idiotic of him especially knowing everything that has gone on this year

Then also Nick Sirianni has to be smarter, knowing how his players are. Particularly AJ. You are the head coach of the team. You know your players. AJ Brown after dropping it is gonna be frustrated and angry. So you saying something to him that pissed him off enough to cause that blowup is also not needed and also idiotic.

Down years aren't really a thing when you are turning 29 and have had year-over-year decline in productivity across 3 consecutive seasons. That's aging and declining, not a down year.

Mhm, but I think the person you replied to was talking about Daboll for OC rather than HC is what I mean.

Part of me wonders if Howie will think this has become a Hasaan Reddick type situation.

No one saw that trade coming but Eagles determined he wasn't a team player and traded him away.

Disagree. Everyone saw the trade coming. It was expected.

The 2023 team played at a level that would beat absolutely no team in the entire league and they proved it against the Giants.

This team only won some more games because of its defense. Our offense was at the level of being bad enough to beat no one. Yes, its very similar.

Good news was after 2023 we had no idea where the problem existed. Players spoke and couldnt put a finger on it. We had no idea what needed to change, and how much needed to change. Felt directionless. Next thing you know we are hoisting the Lombardi.

This year, we can all see the offensive issues. We dont have any locker room cancers except MAYEBE AJ Brown although you cant really even say AJ is wrong.

We have a lot of talent coming back and feels like we can easily be back in contention next year with just an OC change.

That last play was the epitome of KP. Your receivers running the same two routes. Two go routes from the 20?

Absolutely. I was calling it the offseason before.

I actually think it was quite a bit different in how but with the same result. If we even had 2023's level offense and Jalen throws a few less picks, we probably still win SB with our defense.

Too early to say that given the passing offense in general has declined. I’d Devonta declining? He had a down season too. Needed to play the final week to pass 1000. AJ didn’t.

Alshon didnt look washed. It began with a season ending drop, and then he was just done.

AJ Brown never looked washed to me this season. I argued all year with people that no he was not injured. Its just QB play. But at the end of the year, he didnt produce. Deep balls stopped connecting. Then he had key drops, which snowballed into numerous missed plays in this game.

I think this was really his Jeffery end of an era game.
