The immediate cap hit doesn't matter that much. What matters more is the cumulative savings over the years by cutting/trading him now versus keeping him one more year. Cap hits can be spread around and no one does it better than Howie.

I'm very tempted to save Brown's $29m 2026 comp by getting rid of him now. If we keep him we eat that additional amount in the future.

I do wonder if the raiders will make Mayer available with 1 year left on his deal. Like Moreau if healthy. Also otton and likely are interesting names depending on their price. I actually think otton would look better if he got better targets like when Evans, godwin were out. That said i think he probably is too expensive too

Tend to think if you do that now then probably going to restrict yourself more this offseason for the benefit of the future. Imo it would be like 2021 where kind of resetting yourself and expectations are lowered. I not sure the eagles are willing to accept that fate for 2026 with the defense they have in place and not yet very expensive

Definitely. I was yelling to throw in a draw at some point and we had plenty of time to do it with all our TOs available.

Roster management/player usage with this staff is some of the most head scratching stuff I've ever seen. Calcaterra being overused. Tank being underused. PR being anyone but Covey the minute he was healthy. Not using IR on Lane and he misses 9 games. I have no idea what they are looking at with their own players.

I said back during the season that I heard from someone I trust that AJ Brown isn't going anywhere. And I believe them for all the reasons I and others have stated. It doesn't make sense logically or financially. I think 2027 it's very possible though.

Agree with this, it would likely signal a one-year reset. That might be the best approach now, but I agree it's doubtful the front office does this.

I personally just don't see the value in paying Brown another $30m for one more season like this.

What's the last impact play Reed has made vs Dean? Reed Blankenship took a gamble on himself by getting a new agent and stopping all contract talks with the Eagles. He wants to get paid. Will he is the question. I'm going to remain bullish on Dean. He needs to be back. The Eagles don't have another player on the roster who plays the way he does. Baun does, but it seems like Vic stopped using him as a pass rusher for some reason. Regardless, Baun is gone after next year. One more year of overlap at LB is fine with me if it keeps Dean in the house.

I just looked, we currently stand at $73,867,492 in dead cap in 2026

Ironically, the guy who was the whipping boy around here for the first half of the year was one of our most competent players in the 2nd half of the season. Adoree Jackson. That just tells you how loopy this season was. Everything you thought you knew, you didn't.

Seeing the news the Mukuba is HOPEFULL to be fully recovered by the end of the summer was pretty shocking and might change some plans at safety. At the very least, you bring Epps back on a 1-year deal. You address safety in the draft. If Blankenship tests the market and sees his value isn't what he gambled on, then you bring him back if the price is right...and cheap.

I’d be surprised. The passing game has actually been the problem including while he had that title.

I don’t think they’d force a new OC to inherit that situation so I’m not going to get upset by McLane’s tweet unless it happens

It's almost as if you lose all the efficiencies of pushing money out into the future when money is cheaper when you are forced to keep a player due to a huge dead cap hit.

Yeah i just mentioned that last page. After the smith catch it’s 1st and 10 from 21 with 1:28 left. With 3 timeouts you could have tried a run and caught the niners playing pass. Imo didn’t want to score too fast anyway as niners would only need a FG to tie. Probably better off making that possession score or lose. Furthermore could’ve also used a QB draw on 2nd or 3rd down knowing you just needed to make it more manageable. When they got to 3rd and 4th and long it was over unless we made a great throw and catch. Unlikely given how we were playing.
