These sites need to stop labeling things "news" that are just a blogger/fan posting opinions. In that case, everything posted on the EMB is "news."

Damn man thank you! Im much better at dealing with it now and know when I'm on a bad path and what I need to do to get back in track. Sometimes it's a little stronger then I can deal with on my own though. I have bipolar 1 and ADHD I'm more manic then I am depressed but when the depression side hits me it hits hard.

Thanks again for your kind words they go a long way to someone like me or maybe even a poster who isn't comfortable talking about it.

I take Bupropion for my depression. Works fairly well, but the depression still hits me now and then.

What's worse is my Anxiety. Sucks.

Hang in there.

The thing is: if you don't sign Phillips, you need a replacement who's not currently on the roster. If you don't sign Dean, you already have Campbell and Trotter. Both are risky, but I think the risk is worth with Phillips (as long as it's not a crazy deal), not with Dean.

That's not really the issue. The issue is, if you sign Phillips (while having Nolan Smith and Jaylx Hunt), what does that prevent you from doing? Here's a list of players more important than Jaelen Phillips:

Jalen Carter

Jordan Davis

Quinyon Mitchell

Cooper DeJean

Reed Blankenship - some are down on him, but finding a good safety isn't that easy.

I would like if they could keep them all including Phillips but decisions will have to be made. Phillips is replaceable.

I'd take a Goedert extension lowering dead cap over both.

Another offseason dominated by Jerry playing games and not singing someone to a long term extension...

There have been reports that they redid DG's contract before year end to set him up for a post June 1 release - pushes almost $13mm of his dead money into 2027. If they did that, seems they have no intention of trying to bring him back. Maybe if he tests the market and doesn't find a deal he likes, but seems both sides are letting him test the market at least.

Goedert probably comes back honestly. Can't go into the draft with no TEs. And it's not a stacked TE class anyway like last year was.

Yeah, I think most of us would be good with them moving on from DG, but I don't see a ton of options.

They just quietly re-signed J Williams late last week. The expected play was to tag GP and work on the extension, kind of like ATL is doing with Pitts. It just allows more time to work the deal, or possibly tag and trade.

Kolar, Likely, Otton, Njoku and Okonkwo are all decent options.

Someone shared this article in another thread. I dont know how accurate the author's conclusions are but it sounds like they can re-sign and extend basically anyone they want to and still have over 12 million dollars of cap space left over.

However IF they re-sign everyone, and extend everyone, theyll run out of money (and be over the cap) in 2028.

SO, they cant sign everyone. They cant extend everyone. But according to this, they can do a lot more than most people are thinking. That may include Dean and or Phillips.

Or it may include less of our guys but maybe actually making a decently big free agent acquisition.

Anyway, here is the article. It explains things most of us already understand, but for those who dont, or understand to an extend but dont get the concept of why, its really good stuff.

I also LOVE that it gives you the cash spending figure over the past few years so you can really see illustrated how they are spending like, over 100+ million above what the cap actually is. So for anyone complaining about Howie needing to let Milton Williams go because he keeps kicking the can and ran out of money- it shows why those people are wrong to think his strategy is anything but 100% positive.

It's organizational malpractice and shows why Dallas never wins. Doing it this way means Dallas has to carry Pickens on the books at a full $28mm cap number all summer (since we all know Dallas won't do a deal until the eve of camp). If they just extended him with a 4 year, $120mm deal with a $40mm signing bonus, that cap number for 2026 would be below $10mm. So wasting $18mm in needed cap space to address defense.

Dallas could create cap room by restructuring contracts like Dak, Ceedee and Tyler Smith, cutting/trading Clark. But...they won't. Don't believe me? Go back to the 2024 offseason -- they carried Dak at a massive $70mm plus cap number all summer and missed out on all FAs (e.g., Henry) because Jerry said he didn't have cap space. That would only make sense if you planned to move off Dak, but instead Jerry resigned him opening day of the season so every kickoff show led with the Cowboys.

No idea why anyone believes that the Jones' want to win. They don't. You could have over $50mm in cap space, but Jerry is too cheap and stubborn.

Pipedream idea I have had was to somehow acquire Stetson Bennett as our next backup QB.

Not only is he familiar with a similar offensive system in the NFL, but maybe there is some familiarity with VanGorder as well.

Sounds like a great fit.

Yes, we can bring back a bunch of guys. Howie will worry about 2028 in 2028 -- and here's why this analysis is flawed:

But this scenario assumes A.J. Brown, Lane Johnson, Saquon Barkley, Jordan Mailata, DeVonta Smith, and Hurts are all still on the roster in 2028, collecting massive checks. It assumes the Eagles made every aggressive move possible and kept nearly everyone. It assumes none of those veterans have retired, none have been traded, and none of those contracts have been restructured again.

AJ, Lane, Barkley will all definitely be gone with cap hits managed and split between 2027 and 2028.

Here's where I am - he's using a $6mm cap space number, OTC is higher. Works either way:

FWIW, I'm starting to think we let Phillips walk and pivot to a short term deal with Chubb.

It's the greatest con job in sports - Jerry has people convinced he'd do anything to win, but everything he actually does proves he couldn't care less. If Howie was managing their cap, they'd have tons of space. But that requires paying out high cash numbers now way above the cap, and Jerry will not do that.
