Is Milroe a bust? He's a second year developmental pick taken in the third round on the super bowl champion and hasn't even played yet. Tough to make any call on him. And can third round picks even be busts? A third round pick at QB only has a 17% chance to become a starter. Which is kind of the point. Outside of the first round, it is VERY difficult to find a starting level QB because any QB with the physical tools and readily apparent skills to be a starter gets picked early.

We spent a couple years developing him and got a star player in return. We usually keep 3 QBs on the active roster and a 4th on the practice squad. So I absolutely think we have time to work with a kid for a couple years.

Bottom line is it's a numbers game. You keep cycling high upside late round developmental picks and you're going to hit on a couple of them. Each pick individually will have a low likelihood of success. Collectively though, they will have a high expected value relative to the alternative of picking mediocre college players who lack the physical traits needed to excel at the NFL level.

Allar was on some loaded teams and wasn’t good. His games vs the best teams were terrible. The one that sticks out to me is the game against Oregon this past season. White out. He was straight trash.

I watched almost every game of Allar’s. He vastly underachieved. The playoff game vs ND he choked big time. But give him a year with nfl coaching (massive upgrade over Franklin) and I think he could amount to something. Career backup/can win a game against a bad team. 3rd/4th round picks… what’s their percentage of playing past their rookie contract?

And I’m not saying the Eagles should take Allar but I will not be shocked if they go QB late day 2/early day 3.

I would take him round 4 if there’s not much else on the board. Personally, I don’t think there’s much of a gap between a 4th and 6th rounder. Some drafts after the first 50 picks there’s not much a gap between 51 and 151.

So when Woolen and Ringo are on the field together we’re almost guaranteed a penalty

We don't have other QBs. We only have McKee right now. You'll see a QB3 brought in and a camp arm or 2.

They got his contract number down from $10M last year to $7M for this year so you’d think the future void numbers might decrease as well.

I thought the $20M dead cap was based on previous components of Goedert’s contract - so essentially a sunk cost. We’ve now picked up $7M of additional 2026 cost with this extension but can delay some of that $20M into 2027.

No free lunch, just the consequences of eating your burger today but paying for it Tuesday.

It’s clear Goedert has no options, so as long as they offer him a few million and a role in the offense he’ll be back for 2028 too.

Just got back to Santa Fe after from Sedona to see the Goedert news. Glad he is back and at a reasonable price. I'll wait for someone smart like @vikas83 to tell us the cap ramifications. On the surface, we still have a great weapon and I fully expect them to draft a TE to groom.

I think he definitely has options but nothing blowing him away with offers. I'm sure he could make a little more and on a multi year deal elsewhere but he seems pretty committed to staying on the Eagles. Except for 2020, he has made the playoffs every season since being here and is heading into to this 9th season. I think he just enjoys winning on the team he was drafted on and won a Super Bowl on.

That feels like the major sticking point in the trade talks. Patriots seemingly would offer #31 but Howie wants their 2027 1st

Then they get a 3rd round comp.  I would only consider a 2nd for and even then I think there is too much value in having a backup QB that you believe in when you have a team you are trying to win with.

It definitely will, just slightly less. If he leaves it’s $13 in dead cap plus whatever they push this year. I’d say it will probably be around $17M to $18M in dead cap
