Basically they said since the Eagles were taking away his run game coordinator title and only asking him to be the offensive line coach in 2026, then if another team offered him to be the run game coordinator along with offensive line coach that it would technically be a promotion. Which if true the Eagles could not prevent him from taking that job.The thing that’s interesting to me is Jeff McLane talked about his contract in that podcast. In his contract, it stated he is the run game coordinator. However, since they hired somebody else to do that job and when they offered him to come back, it was only for offensive line coaching job. I kind of want to ask McLane if that contract holds up if he tries to get another job, they offer him RGC if that is considered a promotion or not. It’s not a promotion.
February 6Feb 6 6 minutes ago, T-1000 said:I get what you're saying and technically you are correct. However, the Eagles wanted Stoutland back on their terms which meant he would be demoted from RGC, AND he would have to get on board with being part of a completely different offense than the one he is comfortable with and used to coaching. Based on everything that was reported to have gone on during the season they had to have known it was highly unlikely that he was going to return under those stipulations. Hence, it was pretty much a mutual split based on the information that is out there. Also, it still blows my mind the outrage over this. It was time to move the offense forward, evolve, and get with the times. If Stoutland didn't want to be a part of that, good-bye and good luck. If Jalen has a problem with that and can't have success moving forward, good-bye and good luck. Nick, same. It's been obvious to anyone who has watched this team in recent years that the league was starting to pass them by offensively and that defenses had figured them out. This league is constantly adapting and evolving and it's a good year or two overdue for the Eagles to do the same. It may have been messy to get to this point but instead of the outrage and whining people should be happy that the organization has identified this and is actively taking steps to fix the issues. If you want to make an omelette you have to break a few eggs.Tbh the biggest thing in that podcast that came about and he said it in passing was when he was talking about lane Johnson potentially coming back and then he said he had more questions about Landon Dickerson. And he didn’t really explain what that was. It was very vague, and he clearly has more info that he didn’t drop about that situation.

February 6Feb 6 Over the last five seasons the Eagles have:-Made the playoffs every year-Won the division multiple times-Had two SB appearances-Won a championship-They also won a championship 8 years agoMeanwhile the Sixers haven't made a conference championship series since 2001. The Flyers haven't made the playoffs since 2020, and the Phillies have completely pissed away a championship level roster and gone backwards the last few years after a world series appearance in 2022.All of this factual information and yet the sky is constantly falling, the Eagles are a dysfunctional organization, and everything sucks according to the media and fans. It's laughable, pathetic, and no surprise why Philadelphia fans have such a bad reputation throughout the sports world. Bunch of miserable, negative, whining losers.

February 6Feb 6 I think the Stoutland leaving blow would be significantly lessened if the Eagles had a coach like McVay or Shanahan. Because then it’s like ok there’s concern the OL will take a step back but you know the scheme is going to be elite and as long as we have that we’ll find a way to score points and make it work. We know high level offensive minds like that will find ways to work around most issues. It’s the fact that Sirianni is the head coach who doesn’t seem to offer much of anything that compounds the impact of Stoutland leaving. Those types of coaches are not easy to get. We obviously hope Mannion is one of those coaches. Regardless, short of winning a Super bowl in 2026, trying to find one of those coaches needs to be mission #1 for Lurie. It doesn’t guarantee you anything, but it’s an incredible luxury to have one of those guys.

Bunch of miserable, negative, whining losers.Honestly I have just been enjoying the ride over the past 20+ years. Lurie has been able to lead this organization to unprecedented success. Getting that first one was like lifting lead weight off Atlas Shoulders. So emotional and satisfying. Last year's Superbowl just couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. Unbelievable performance, complete dominance and a sign that we had arrived as one of the leagues elite organizations. Of course, this year was the well deserved kick in the nuts for an organization that became complacent and didnt have the hunger to win. I still think top to bottom is the best roster in the league. Too bad the offensive coaching staff wasn't up to the task because they easily could have beat both teams in the Superbowl had they been playing competent offensive football. Now, there is nothing else but to trust that Lurie, Howie and Co will once again right the ship. Based on the last 20+ years, I belive they will. Sucka beyond belief to lose Stout but I have a confidence that they will find a good replacement as OL coach. I also believe that Sirianni knows it is last chance to keep his job and I think Howie will do a better job at filling out this roster with players who can do the job they are asked to do.Gotta believe baby!
February 6Feb 6 @vikas83 what are the ramifications to cap, dead money and cash if Landon Dickerson retires
February 6Feb 6 BTW, I was setting up a new tv today, was looking for 4k content to setup the picture. Put on the PHI/DAL game…Holy crap, Kelly green helmet was awesome! PHI needs to go back to that as the primary color. It was like watching in the 80s, early 90s…I’m not a green uniform fan, nothing to do with PHI, but damn that is a great classic look.

If he was an active coach of the team it’s understandable. Although Howie said he regrets blocking DeFilippo and likely wouldn’t do it again to anyone. But it’s a guy that maybe wants to coach again, just not here, while also being a Philly legend. It would be enormous red flag when it comes to hiring new coaches that it’s just not worth it. Let the guy go somewhere else if he wants.

My only holdup would be him going to the Giants or somewhere in the division. I think if the Raiders or the Jets were like we want hire you to be the OL coach that the Eagles wouldn’t block him. I’m not sure how they would feel if he was like well I want to take this job with the giants

February 6Feb 6 The only certainty we have on the OL right now, which has been a staple for years is Mailata. And even he isn’t a 100% certainty because he took a step back in 2025.You already lost StoutlandLane may retireDickerson may retireWho knows about JurgensWho knows about AJWho knows how good/bad Mannion will beWho knows how Hurts will perform in a new schemeWho knows how many free agents you can afford to keepIf any combination of these don’t go in the Eagles favor, the 2026 season could turn into a disaster season very quickly. It doesn’t take much in the NFL to turn an 11 win team into an 8 win team. Happens all the time. And it’s not like any one of the questions about the team is some super long shot. Howie and Lurie better cross their fingers because this being an all time terrible offseason is absolutely a possibility.

If Dickerson retires, I would go into free agency and just go sign Linderbaum. Make him your starting center. He is better than Cam Jurgens. I take Cam Jurgens then move him to right guard. Have Tyler steen over the left guard. Then I’d go and draft a guard to compete with steen. Again, I don’t think this is likely, but with how good linderbaum is i upgraded at center, imo upgraded at RG if jurgens is healthy and have look for competency at LG

One of the major reasons why allowing Stout to go was a horrendous outcome. Not for Becton specifically but more that he always got the most out of his OL. Becton was garbage for the Chargers. Without Stout we can no longer assume that you take a chance on some talented guy with potential and we will get the most out of him like we could with Stout.Just a colossal error by this organization.

He’d take care of your center position for 5 years. But I think he either goes back to the Ravens or follows Harbaugh to the Giants. Eagles don’t have the cap space to outbid these teams and without Stoutland the Eagles are less of a destination for OL.
