Random post but this year marks 20 years since I joined the original EMB that was formerly on the Eagles website. Time certainly flies and I know some others on here have been around longer than that. I remember joining a few months before going off to college and I’ve always appreciated the community here because it gave me a place to talk Eagles football going out of state for college and not being around other Eagles fans like I was growing up and in high school. That was a tough adjustment but this place always helped.

I was thankful enough to be in New Orleans at the game last year when they destroyed Kansas City and when the clock hit zero, this was the first place I thought about and how happy I was for the long-timers on here. All those years complaining about McNabb and Reid were worth it and I felt the same after 52 as well 😂

So cheers to all of you and a special thanks to @VaBeach_Eagle for stepping up and keeping this place going after they shut down the original board.

My wife and I will be visiting Thailand in November, with the current plan to retire to Southeast Asia permanently in 5 years. It will give us the option to retire at the same time (she’s significantly younger) and enjoy both a warmer climate and more relaxed pace.

Coworker and good friend took an extended leave, went to Thailand for a couple of months. Met a girl, came back home, flew her over and then married her. He then quit work, and moved to Chiang Mai. We keep him on staff as a contracted software developer...he loves it over there. He basically supports her entire extended family, it's just the way things are done over there he says.

Kuechly deserves to be in but I thought they would make him wait a bit from retiring early

That doesn't sound Diva-ish to me, it seems logical.

It's semi Diva-ish. You see, this means that someone has to understand you. If you have a different philosophy on how the game should be played, then that becomes a huge issue. It pretty much means that someone who has a good feel for the game but can't explain it well (this happens frequently in fields like design, for example), you are at a disadvantage vs this player. I'm sure some people will go 'but they're a coach!' and it's like yeah, but I think there's a lot of pretty smart offensive coaches that can't literally tell people how to emulate their thought process.

Kinda miss the days where coaches actually had real authority.

The Gore one is interesting to me. I view him as someone who lasted a long time and was able to compile stats. Very good player but not a hall of famer to me. I don’t think you should get in if you were never a top 3 player at your position during your era, but maybe that’s too strict of a baseline.

Easily makes the eagles hall of fame…

Actually I like that criteria really. I guess maybe I am a little biased against Roger Craig, I just never thought he was that great. Holt is like 7th in career yards, he should have gotten in, maybe Craig has just been waiting too long, idk.

Wow, too many younger NFL cats lost this year...we ain't getting any younger. 🥲

I don’t want to take away anything from his career because he was solid for a longer stretch than most RB’s and it’s somewhat impressive. But in no way is he a hall of famer. He made all-pro once on the second team. He’s the embodiment of a high floor RB outside of one year.

How does not being able to explain the logic behind why you are doing something make them look good?

I think it's important to point out the quote says 'see the logic' not 'have logic'. This doesn't mean you have to be logical, you have to present logic that works from his perspective.

"You need to be a lot better with dropping and getting the ball out on time."
"Why, we already won a Super Bowl with me not doing that? Let's continue doing what works?"
"Because it's not going to keep working, we had a clear weakness here and here."
"Well, let's actually see it not working before we go changing stuff."
<Now you're in mid season, can't actually effectively do installs, and you waste a year as Philly fans say>

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Where do you go from here? And this is why coaches not having real authority is a pain in the ass sometimes. Lol.

But put differently, if you have a feel for the game based on experience, and you really think something needs to be done, but don't have the data (since it's about an upcoming event), you can't explain it super logically. Meanwhile, Philadelphia doesn't have the patience for a wasted year based on these kinds of issues.

He’s exactly right, and I knew that when I got married. We’ve put her two brothers through college and her niece is now in first year nursing school. We’ve done updates to her house back home and bought an investment property in Bohol that we’ll make an AirBNB to generate income. We did our trip to Hong Kong and Macau as a family vacation last year so they could see more of the world. None of that would have been possible for them if we hadn’t gotten married. I still get the better end of the deal — her family is awesome and my in-laws all work full time to make the best life they can on their own.

Chiang Mai is very high on my list from the research I’ve done. Not as crowded and busy as Bangkok, more natural scenery but still enough amenities. Great to hear your friend has done well there.

Too bad he can't coach unless the Eagles allow him to since he is currently under contract with them. If anyone thinks Howie is letting him go to the Giants in 2026 for example they are clueless.

Puka was the best player in the nfl this year, it just is what it is and I hate the Rams.

But but but, that doesn't suit the narrative of DRAMA, DRAMA, and more DRAMA and that Stoutland couldn't take the dysfunctional franchise (that has made the playoffs for 5 straight seasons, with 2 SB appearances and 1 championship) any longer and quit.

Just saying i listened to that entire podcast that Phillies nation tweet didn’t actually accurately explain everything in that podcast. Left out critical info. McLane said it was messy. It was one of the things he touched on. I summarized as much as i could while listening in here a couple hours ago. It was tweet that wasn’t fully accurate from what McLane said in the podcast. Furthermore, it wasn’t mutual. Eagles wanted stoutland back as OL coach and stoutland said no. Then eagles and stoutland mutually agreed to release a statement at the same time. McLane stated Jeff Stoutland basically release his statement early in order to basically show he didn’t agree with the eagles and show he wasn’t on the same page as them.

Where should I retire to?

I don’t know how accurate this is, but there were a couple beat writers discussing him leaving last night. Basically they said since the Eagles were taking away his run game coordinator title and only asking him to be the offensive line coach in 2026, then if another team offered him to be the run game coordinator along with offensive line coach that it would technically be a promotion. Which if true the Eagles could not prevent him from taking that job.

The thing that’s interesting to me is Jeff McLane talked about his contract in that podcast. In his contract, it stated he is the run game coordinator. However, since they hired somebody else to do that job and when they offered him to come back, it was only for offensive line coaching job. I kind of want to ask McLane if that contract holds up if he tries to get another job, they offer him RGC if that is considered a promotion or not.

In any case none of it matters now and I think there was a lot of opinion in there. We all know if Sirriani has a poor year then he’s likely to go. And it stands to reason Stoutland didn’t like getting stripped of RGC.

Yeh, I can't imagine Barry appreciated that either...weird pairing. End Racism, Choose Love, Inspire Change in the end zones during the year, and then have the EOY awards ceremony with that in it...I don't get it.

I get what you're saying and technically you are correct. However, the Eagles wanted Stoutland back on their terms which meant he would be demoted from RGC, AND he would have to get on board with being part of a completely different offense than the one he is comfortable with and used to coaching. Based on everything that was reported to have gone on during the season they had to have known it was highly unlikely that he was going to return under those stipulations. Hence, it was pretty much a mutual split based on the information that is out there.

Also, it still blows my mind the outrage over this. It was time to move the offense forward, evolve, and get with the times. If Stoutland didn't want to be a part of that, good-bye and good luck. If Jalen has a problem with that and can't have success moving forward, good-bye and good luck. Nick, same. It's been obvious to anyone who has watched this team in recent years that the league was starting to pass them by offensively and that defenses had figured them out. This league is constantly adapting and evolving and it's a good year or two overdue for the Eagles to do the same. It may have been messy to get to this point but instead of the outrage and whining people should be happy that the organization has identified this and is actively taking steps to fix the issues. If you want to make an omelette you have to break a few eggs.
