Mentioned by March 10th, the start of FA.Thank God. Having to watch this saga drag out for several months would be a nightmare.

If they can get a first round pick and another pick in the 3rd-5th round range I'm pretty sure he's gone.

Friday at 05:25 PM2 days So, to answer the question on AJ being traded before June 1 - it's possible IF they did redo Goedert's contract to cut him with a post June 1 designation (saves almost $13mm). Our starting cap is $16mm per OTC, but less than $3mm per Spotrac. Start with the average - $9.4mm and add $8.866mm from cutting MC2 gets you to $18.25mm. Moving almost $13mm to 2027 for DG gets you to $31.1mm. Now, you need ~$5.5mm for rookies, and assume $5mm for in season moves, that leaves just around $20.5mm, and trading AJ eats $20.2mm of that. So you could do it and have basically no flexibility other than cap space gained from a potential JD extension (~$8mm). Basically, you COULD do it, but then JP, Dean and Reed are gone and you really can't add anyone. Your roster would need to be filled out with rookies and super cheap options. So very unrealistic.

If you start off asking for way more than you would take, often times the other side feels a lot better about and is willing to give up what you actually want. For example, if the starting ask is a 1 and a 2, a 1 and a future 3 or 4 seems a heck of a lot better.

I just have a harder time seeing a team giving up that when they know they have to give him an extension after this year. He only has $4 million guaranteed left on his contract. There’s no way AJ Brown is going to be happy in 2027 playing on the contract he has now with only $4 million guaranteed left. Plus he’s gonna be 30. He is going to want one last big payday
Friday at 05:31 PM2 days So who are this years "Jackson Hawes" to watch out for with TE's today. Meaning guys that be had in the 3rd-5th round range who are stud blocking TE's. Nothing interests me more this off-season than how the Eagles elect to revamp the TE positions. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if their top 3 TE's in 2026 are all new guys and I'm not against it.

He is going to want one last big paydayI agree and quite honestly I think if they get offered a first in this year's draft he will be gone. The tone from Howie has completely changed since the trade deadline. Yes, he used that same line about not wanting to move great players. However, he keeps saying he wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't listen to offers for any player and he was not saying that at the deadline. It was a no at the deadline, now it's a we'll see. The Eagles best bet for getting the value they want for Brown is that you can get 3 or 4 AFC teams looking to make a move to push them over the top (Bills, Pats, Ravens, Chiefs, Chargers, etc) bidding for him. I'm tired of this dude and his BS and I don't think he is ever going to be happy long term and it hurt last year's offense more than a lot of people are willing to admit. That being said, even I would have a certain expectation for value to move him and I would want a first even if it's in 2027 or 2028 and if it is kicked down the road like that I would want another pick this year. I would do a 1st in 2026 or a 1 in 27/28 with a 3rd this year. If someone isn't willing to come to the table with a first I would deal with the head case for more year.

If anyone is willing to give up a 1st round pick plus, they will also insist on locking AJ into a new contract. So you have to be willing to give up a 1st round pick and guarantee ~$60 million to a 29 year old WR with a physical style. No sane organization will trade premium draft capital for a 1 year rental - AJ will never report to camp in 2027 without a new deal (or a guarantee of his existing deal). The only team stupid enough to do it is Dallas (what they did with Q. Williams), but they won't trade for him.
Friday at 05:48 PM2 days I for one will be thrilled when the AJ brown trade talk stopsI know RTK will be sad and that will also be enjoyable

Frankly, if you’re getting picks in future drafts, then you really don’t have to trade him until after June 1, which makes it at least somewhat easier to accomplish. I’d like to get a 2026 pick but I don’t think this draft is exactly great. So if I got it for future pick where we don’t have as many draft picks yet in those drafts then I’d be fine with that too. To me the next question becomes how do you solve the wide receiver corps when he’s gone. I don’t love the FA class and I’d take a WR early but i think just banking on a rookie wr comes with ups and downs and potentially might not be ready early or even this year.Imo if the bills, charges and New England were willing to give me a 2027 1st and 2028 conditional 4th. I’d then call Miami and see what it would take to get waddle. They kind of have the same issue the eagles do with waddle’s contract trading him though. But i do think waddle in a mannion style offense with smith is an excellent duo. And they are both young
Friday at 05:57 PM2 days 10 minutes ago, vikas83 said:Yup. I really don’t see it happening until after June 1, if they’re gonna do it. And at that point, they must have some sort of agreement in place if that were to occur. Cause I can’t imagine a team just waiting til then. That said if they did it after June 1 still think the Eagles want a 2027 first round pick and a conditional fourth that could become a third in 2028.Set this in a different post. But if you’re gonna do that, I would call Miami and see what it would take to get waddle. However, Miami has the same issue that the eagles do with AJ Brown’s contract because that contract is really hard to trade before June 1 due the cap and it’s still not great even after June 1.
Friday at 06:06 PM2 days If the Eagles go dumpster diving at TE in free agency to not effect the comp pick formula and "draft proof" the position the way they did at some positions last off-season, I would be looking at the following guys:Dawson Knox - If the rumors of his getting released are true I would be all over this. This wouldn't exactly be dumpster diving, but he wouldn't break the bank with guys like Pitts, Likely, Otton, Goedert, Njoku, Okonkwo ahead of him on the market. He had some pretty good years in Buffalo before they drafted Kincaid.Noah Fant - He never took off after a couple of really good seasons early in his career in Denver but I still think there is at least a decent starting TE here under the right circumstances.Tyler Conklin - Had a pretty horrible season for the Chargers but had a nice run with the Jets with around 50 receptions and 500+ yards for four straight seasons despite bad QB play. Had career numbers in 2023 with 61 catches for 621 yards.Austin Hooper - Coming off of a down year but in 2024 he had 45 for 476 and 3 TD's sharing the job with Hunter Henry.Tyler Higbee - 33 years old and has missed a lot of games over the last two seasons but was a really good receiving TE at one point and has experience in the system the Eagles are likely to run.Charlie Kolar - More of a 2nd or even 3rd TE as he does every little as a receiver but he is one of the better blocking TE's in the league. Was a 4th round pick and put up really good numbers in college so maybe being behind Andrews and Likely effected his ability to get opportunities as a pass catcher.
