That basically once you start listening to offers, you are almost forced to make a move to avoid the awkwardness of bringing the player back. But that doesn't always hold true, especially for Howie -- just see Goedert last year and Sweat the year before.I think this is as simple as they told AJ and Sexton that they would consider offers, but they needed a huge return to justify taking a massive cap hit. The biggest news in the last 24 hours was confirmation that DG's contract was NOT adjusted to allow a post June 1 release, meaning the $20mm of dead money all hits 2026 unless they extend him before 3/10. That makes trading AJ before June 1 basically impossible.Worked with Sweat and Goedert, but slightly different situations. They both agreed to paycuts to stay on the team so there was a willingness on both parts to make it work for one more year. Now, I'm not saying Brown can't or wouldn't make it work for one more year. All just depends how he really feels and what he really wants which we probably will never really know.

March 4Mar 4 I gotta say - the Chiefs may be entering full rebuild mode. They have a very barren roster. QB - Mahomes is the best in the league, but how healthy will he be week 1RB - bunch of JAGsWR - Rice may be suspended for a long time, Worthy is mehTE - Kecle may be done, but he's washed if he comes backOL - Humphrey and Smith are great, but below average elsewhereDL - Chris Jones and Karlaftis and...LB - Bolton is a good playerSecondary - Um...Years of bad drafting and being cheap, counting on Mahomes to cover it all up, have finally caught up to them.

It’s possible, but I don’t think they talk like an organization in love with him. I can’t imagine the last few seasons with him around have been fun.Guys like AJ create factions, so there are probably some guys that love him, like when T.O. was here, but it’s normally worse than what’s out in the open, not better. I don’t think you even entertain a trade for a guy that talented with that much dead money if there aren’t some serious issues.I would love to be wrong and next year they all kick butt and win a happy SB together. It's a job. They don't need to be happy at work to do it. I really don't think AJ isn't liked by his teammates. I just think he's unhappy with his role on the team. He also likely wants to discuss an extension. From the club's standpoint, he's at a high point in terms of trade value. They would eat the dead money this season but be in a better cap situation heading into 2027.
March 4Mar 4 Way early on this one but if Reid retires after 2026, Spags will probably shake free. If he does and Fangio retires I think he'd be choice #1 for Lurie and Howie as DC. And has roots from this area.

Like you said smith and Humphrey are very good. I think Simmons is going to be alright. But it’s a big drop from what they were to where they are now. That doesn’t include mediocre WRs (one good but a nut job) and imo below avg RBs the last two years.I think the defense is going to be alright simply cause of Spags ability to get more from less and will make them solid. However their offense is a big issue including mahomes coming off his knee.

It’s not a coincidence that these were probably his two best years in terms of production.McDuffie started playing mainly outside in 2024. The results after the position change are nothing short of disappointing. Despite an injury shortened season with less than 700 snaps in 2025, he’s allowed 9 touchdowns and drew 16 penalties over the last two years. Opposing quarterbacks completed 99 of 157 (63%) of their passes for just over 1,000 yards and a passer rating in the low to mid 90’s.

It's down the line but I'm curious about Cooper and Mitchell. Both are continuously improving so the contracts are likely only going to get bigger
March 4Mar 4 The Chiefs are going to have two first round picks and get an OT that we are going to be pissed because we wanted him.

Just like BB he will be forced out before retirement and will still have the desire to coach after that. He is one of those people where clearly coaching football is the most important and necessary things in their life.
