Man would that defense utilize him to his strengths...

When you look at the evolution of the position, and how it us used today, values can change. If you had a re-draft, both of those guys would go in round 1.We've done pretty well with both Goedert and Ertz in the 2nd round. I think we can repeat that again this time. Having said that, I agree with you that it is certainly a question to ask. I'd have loved to have gotten Warren last year for example.

Good draft for it and some decent free agents too there. Thieneman really flew up the boards, I was in on him months back when he was a 2nd round projection, now he may go prior to 23. McNeil-Warren didn't blow the combine up, but I don't care. If anything, that pushes him down which could only help if we have interest which I assume we do with the Mitchell and Toledo connections. He brings a physical nature which would continue to improve and push this defense to the next level. Haulcy, Kilgore, Ramsey and Stukes are other nice safeties and Stukes is interesting, more of a corner actually but versatile. Stukes is a target of mine. Kilgore extremely physical in nature and enforcer, 6-1 ; 210 and ran a 4.4 flat.

Now, Im starting to reconsider considering the coaching change.

March 7Mar 7 Late round/UDFA sleeper. Had a thread in IWTETG for Landon Robinson, DT from Navy. He is a short, stout run defender. It showed up in his workout with 30 bench press reps. I said he reminds me of Poona Ford who I always wanted. Hes very undersized and carved out a long career for himself now. These guys have hidden pass rush ability that Ford ha showed off at times as well. Robinson's workout would have been a top performer at the combine.

OL and RBs who can run OZ.And possibly a new focus on TE as it may become a focal point of the offense.

Then of course Patullo/Nick came up with close to nothing to deal with the problem other than the heavy alignment which died fore th most part the moment Lane couldn't play.

March 7Mar 7 The combine rankings for Robinson's workouts, as well as arm lengthy which was nearly 32''- very nice for a short guy.

March 7Mar 7 When Nakobe was healthy, I thought he played well. A heat seeking missle at the LB spot. Not great in space, but good enough. Between the tackles, I thought he was really good. Especially for his size.Hopefully Campbell can replace him.

Just correcting a statement. Mukuba, Brown and Sam are all under contract. (3 safeties, not 1). Now that doesn’t mean I want either Brown or Sam starting. Both Coop and M Carter can play S. Carter was a S in college. That said, it is damning to Carter that they signed Epps rather than start him when Mukuba went down. Sam has great instincts but is just too slow. Coop needs to stay where he is. I would love it if Brown had Sam’s instinct and football IQ or Sam had Brown’s athleticism. So drafting one is a no brainer. BTW, with that contract, Carter should go. That said, it is strange that Howie didn’t let him go ahead of free agency as that sort,of thing is kind of standard for the Birds.
