And really when you spend a valuable pick like a 3rd round pick you gotta do that with the hope and the commitment that if it does work out and they play good for you that you do then sign them to a new deal instead of letting them leave when you gave up a day 2 draft pick. Only one of those trades that Howie hit on before was Ajayi and we re-signed him but his career ended very shortly into that new deal pretty much.

Oh my God they made the playoffs then they lost in the first round and didn’t do anything. Harris want a cookie for making the playoffs? Meanwhile his ownership they’re are about to miss the playoffs 10 out of 13 years and 6 times in last 8 years. Since getting Hughes about to be 5 times in 7 seasons

I’d add before he took over, they had made the playoffs 8 out of 10 seasons, won a series in a postseason 4 times, in those previous 10 seasons leading up to his arrival got to the Stanley cup 2 times, won a cup and were 2 seasons removed from a cup finals appearance.

Another stat the devils in the 12 seasons with Harris as owner have finished last or 2nd to last in the division 8 of the 12 years. As of right now they are on pace for 9 of 13 seasons. What an owner….

With your logic on Hughes should thank the Winnipeg jets owner for hellebuyck and every owner who had a player on the US national team. Meanwhile hellebuyck was drafted 130 and Hughes was 1st overall cause the devils were awful to get him

The Flyers have Fing sucked too. But the devils have been awful with him as owner.

They have made the second round actually. Something the Flyers only did only during that carnival of an empty arena in some Canadian closed bubble covid post season. Josh Harris developed an American hero golden goal Olympian while Comcast era ownership of the Flyers best player they have developed they had to let leave because he got charged with a gang rape that he later won legally.

So they have made the playoffs more than the Flyers have since Ed Snyder died. In fact they have made the playoffs twice in the past 4 years while the Flyers haven't even made the playoffs in 7 years during that phony covid season. Further he developed Jack Hughes into what he was to do what he needed to do to bring us Gold at the Olympics. We wouldn't have that Gold medal if not for Josh Harris being the one to draft and develop Hughes.

I agree with you on most of your football takes but you are clearly out of your element here. First of all, Josh Harris had NOTHING to do with drafting or developing Jack Hughes. Second, Hughes was the slam dunk sure fire number 1 overall pick when the Devils just happened to win the lottery and get him. They made the obvious pick, and because he is massively talented he became the player everyone thought he would become. The Devils didn't do anything special unless you count getting lucky with ping pong balls as something, and Josh Harris has zero to do with picking hockey players and developing them. He is a business man who buys teams and collects the money. Stop embarrassing yourself.

I'm sure if you asked Jack Hughes himself that he would tell you that he really wouldn't be anything if not for Josh Harris. The total lack of respect that Harris gets yet the tremendous success he has had especially given that he has to do this with three professional teams at the same time.

Keeping Phillips means Edge is not as big a need. Still would take one if the board and their board align mid rounds, someone to develop in the rotation.

Cool story. Flyers have made the second round as many times as devils have during Harris tenure. Congrats he’s a crap owner and the flyers also have crap ownership.

Congrats to the devils on your 1 second round appearance in 13 years and being on pace to finish last or second to last in the metro in 9 of 13 seasons under Harris. Bravo on the achievement

It remains a big need, but I guess you can say the starters are set.

Hunt, and Phillips are the only guys worth a damn who would be part of the forseeable future. And Phillips is very injury prone. So the picture is still...not good.

Nolan Smith should not be retained. Graham will likely be part of the picture, and we should probably expect an injury and/or very few snaps anyway.

As I see it, we would have exactly 1 dependable long term piece in place at edge. I hope for 2 additions through the draft and free agency.

The Flyers have bad ownership too now. And they haven’t been good. But the devils have been just as bad as the Flyers since Harris has taken over that team especially when you consider the success for nearly 15 years prior to Harris. They’re on pace this year to finish last or second to last in the metro and potentially finish in last or second to last in that division 9 out of the 13 years, Harris has been there. Thats quite the accomplishment.

One team did it during an actual season and post season. One team did it during a carnival act, and that was much longer ago. Practically a Cowboys fan harping on Super Bowls from the prior millennium.

both of them suck and both have crap owners. Harris has been one of the worst owners in the sport since he took over that franchise. They have statically one of the worst franchises in the nhl in his 13 years. Congrats you made the second round 1 time in 13 years but finish last or second to last 8 going on 9 times. So 67% of Harris ownership they’ve been the worst team in the division or the second worst. Have a chance to hit 70% by end of this year. Great ownership and overall success there…

If they don't draft one this year, next year it becomes a bigger need probably.

US won Gold at the Olympics over Canada because of Josh Harris.

I have been a fan since the draft. I think clearly his team/QB so far in his career has not put him in position to succeed. He had a bit of a breakout this year with a better QB in Daniel Jones.

He should do be a top tier #2 and with Smith here and the potential to move on from AJ at some point soon, thats exactly what we need.

I wish he was going to be affordable since his career hasnt stacked up to his awesome height weight speed combine workout. But it sounds like he is getting a big deal.

Shaheed would be awesome too as a field stretcher, and offering value as a legitimate kick returner. But he will probably be priced out of our range too even if his contract is more modest than Pierce's.

Nailor is the sleeper who should be affordable.

Yes I do agree his best days are ahead of him that's why I had said the arrow is pointing up.

Rashad would bring that speed element and a deadly return threat. Nailer could be the Dotson replacement if you want to go that route.

I just don't think we should be moving on from AJ right now, he just needs the ball thrown his way so he can get back to his dominant self. Hopefully Mannion is the real deal.

Seemed like Phillips disappeared later in the season but if Vic wants him that badly then I'm all for it

The Patriots first is basically a second round pick as is, so f that anyway. You aren’t going to draft a better player than AJ Brown after 20.

Patriots will come back down to earth next year. Grab both their first this year and next.

(I do not want AJ traded nor do I think he will be dealt this year)

Don't need to draft a player equal to or better than brown. They just need a competent WR2.

That said, I doubt Howie trades brown anyway

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Howie exercises 5th year option on Carter and tells him to go out next year and earn his contract. Davis is the example.
