I have said nothing about guaranteed money. My issue is with the overly aggressive use of void years to push money out further and the risky side effects it may cause. Unlike the trolling ankle taper I know you recognize the difference.

Why do you hate Howie Roseman?

Maybe I’m reaching but I think Howie is going to find a way to get Crosby now.

Baltimore gave the rest of the league leverage over Las Vegas so it’s not out of the realm of possibility

Huh? Isn't signing your talented draft pick to long team deal a splash? We are able to do those because we aggressively push money out.

We aren't making splashes in FA because we already have bunch of talented players on second contracts.

Too many people don't view resignings of their own FAs, extensions, etc as improvement. They don't value stability and consistency, more times than not it's a matter of where is our new shiny piece like so-and-so got? To be fair as consumers/fans we always want more also, it's human nature to want. There are a lot here tht get it... @TEW comes to mind the last couple of days, and a few others realizing patience will win out for PHI FA period. Too many people are overpaying, there is nothing wrong with bargain hunting when your roster is already stacked.

That would be cool

Howie got involved late to drive up the price. A bit of backhanded revenge for Alexander.

I am sure Howie keeps score on these things.

I see your view of the impact of void years. But what would be the impact of fewer void years?

All cash out the door ultimately ends up in a cap hit. Void years allows a team to massage when they choose to experience them. Removing void years brings the cap hits into the present - creating less cap flexibility now. Void years pushes cap hits into the future, where they would be a smaller percentage of the available cap.

I think you are lamenting having to pay the check after enjoying a enjoying an amazing dinner out.

We extended Davis, awesome. I'm all on board with that.

But... that's it. (Unless you count Calcaterra and no, that should not be counted as a positive)

This will be two years in a row where we have a significant number of people walking out the door with very few of our own people being resigned. (Baun being resigned was awesome. Barkley being extended is ok in theory but I didn't like him getting the raise) This is the opposite of stability.

The other argument will be "Well, most of these people are easily replaceable", I.E., mid level talent. But as others have pointed out, we are progressively getting more and more top heavy. Not having a lot of mid level talent supplementing (and backing up) your top level talent, injuries to those guys become all the more devastating.

DAL is going to get taken to the woodshed trying to dump Osa. Likely will end eating a lot of his salary ('26 money is guaranteed) to a trade partner IF they can even find a partner to move him. Switching from 4-3 to 3-4 has created a mismatch for his skills evidently. I am not sure I buy that but DAL definitely has too much $ tied up in the interior DL. Poor planning...again.

So it looks like the remaining Eagles free agents are Dillon, Epps, Goedert, Granson, Jackson, Johnson, Mann, Ojulari and Okoronkwo

Call me old fashioned, but the cap should be managed with an abacus.

They need to lose a pick

I understand where you're coming from I really do. At least for all the money that was pushed forward it allowed PHI to continue to add talent AND...win a damn SB! Other teams are out there stagnant, DAL is finally seeing the light and restructuring contracts to create money to add talent like Howie has done for years...problem is most other teams still can't get it right...my team is one of them. At a minimum PHI got the ultimate ROI for the money that was kicked down the road, and next year from a cap perspective, at least as of right now, PHI is in a better position and not necessarily locked in to a bad contract that eats up a large % of cap space overall.

The Eagles signing Eric Dickerson to be an assistant coach went under the radar. Kinda old to break into coaching

I don't really disagree with you on your point. But to the bolded point:

1) Eating a bit more of the guaranteed money during the life of the contract minimizes the pain in case you have to make a move on the player later

2) Gives you a lever to pull in the event you need to restructure to add a guy or cut the player in question.

Right now we maximize the pain on the back end and have given ourselves no levers to pull if we need an out. Alshon being forced to stick around an extra year or two (while unnecessarily picking up his base salary those years) comes to mind.

Best punter I saw last year...I didn't watch a ton of games outside of DAL or PHI other than prime time weekday games, but Mann's production last year was outstanding.

Special Projects for the Head Coach?

Does he blow up the inflatables?

So Kasper isn’t DBs coach after all, he gets defensive passing game coordinator and secondary coach goes to Pellegrino

Actually not a new title for the Birds.

A great punt resource.
