For 2026, they get approx $660k in 2026 cap space because he took a $3.3M pay cut this year.

I can't say for sure what, if anything Landon gets out of it. His option bonus was not guaranteed this year so maybe they are guaranteeing it at a lower number. You would have to see all the details to know. Taking the 2028 year off is a bit more perplexing. It was all non guaranteed anyway so not sure why exactly they did that.

I'd say a 1st plus a 3rd or 4th. But it's an interesting negotiation, because the Pats know about the June 1st difference. Because of the financial hit before June 1st, Howie set a high price. So the Pats know the price can come down. So just trading him this June, I would think the price would naturally come down. The rumors have been about the Pats trading for him for 2 years now, but they weren't desperate enough to meet Howie's price. So they're waiting too. The Pats draft picks are also going to be later in the round. So a 2nd round pick is almost a 3rd. That's not enough for a top WR in the game. Everyone was frustrated with Patullo. Other players around the league get contracts after showing frustration, committing crimes, etc. If the Pats won't give the asking price, someone else will. If the Eagles want to trade him post June 1st they'll get a 1st round pick plus another pick, some team will pay it. They could also do a conditional pick situation.

Greenard is really good. I'd probably rather have him than Phillips. And on this DL I think he'd feast with Davis and Carter taking up blockers on the inside. Depends on the price though. A 2nd? No. A 4th? Or a 4th that can turn into a 3rd based on production. That might be the best Edge outcome of the offseason for the Eagles unless they can someone trade for Crosby at a significant discount which is unlikely. But the Eagles are obviously motivated to address Edge given they were willing to sacrifice their comp pick for Hendrickson. If the Crosby deal went through I still think he probably would've went to the Colts since reports were the Colts were offering him 25m per season over multiple years and the Eagles signing a guy who will be 32 during the season to a multi year deal just isn't the way they do things. But I think if they could have gotten him for 1-2 years at like 22-25ish they'd have done it.

Greenard is certainly a better option than Chubb though and this team doesn't necessarily need a superstar Edge they need someone who's really good. They had the best defense in the NFL in 2024 with that dynamic. And yes Greenard is better than Sweat, and Sweat is not going to be traded because Gannon got fired lol.

Eagles should keep him then. They don't have to move him regardless of what the talking heads say. If the season is going to crap move him at the deadline but a 2nd for a top 10 WR is horrible valuable.

Well, you don't need to have the "best" roster in order to compete for a SB, you just need to be playing the best ball come postseason. That, and maybe luck up into favorable matchups/having home field vs tough teams. I think they could be fine without AJ, but they'd need the run game to be effective again, and for the defense to stay solid.

That's Howie Vison and how he effed up last offseason and retracing back to correct his mistakes. Last offseason in back tracking was horrendous and the results prove it. All offseason people said they can't afford to keep this guy or that guy, but eventually they went hard after Parsons who would be double anyone of these guys prices. These were choices he's making in who to go with to repeat as Superbowl champions. That's always the goal. He is doing a lot of self correcting, which I do give him credit for. And essentially acknowledging his past mistakes.

The Giants won the SB the year after by far their best offensive weapon, Tiki Barber, abruptly ditched them

Indianapolis got over their playoff win drought and soon after won the SB the moment HoF RB Edgerrin James left in FA

New England traded Randy Moss and immediately made the SB, despite not winning a playoff game in the last 3 years with Randy.

Then Later, won the SB, traded for star receiver Brandin Cooks and lost the Super Bowl, dumped him and won the SB the very next year.

KC won more rings without Tyreek Hill than they did with him.

Philadelphia made it to the SB with TO missing the playoff run, then lost once he came back.

Teams overcome losing skill players all the time. We are not AJ Brown and the people he’s carrying. He didn’t even do much in the SB run in 2024. Im not saying he’s deadweight, but we’ll be good with or without him.

I think the deeper issue is he wants a contract extension and we are not giving it to him. Add to that, he and Hurts just arent on the same page. So he's gonna sulk and contaminate everything. Pretty much like he did last year where he dogged it and alligator armed passes all year. Never laid out or dove either. And all of that has nothing to with Patullo. It's about effort made. Devanta played perfectly fine under same circumstances.

No, none of it is Howie anything. Howie hasn't done or said anything about Josh Sweat. It's a twitter blogger speculation that is apparently fake news. The point of my post is saying it wouldn't make sense for the Eagles to not want to pay Sweat, then trade picks just to pay Sweat the contract they didn't want to pay him. They're not going to do that.

we didn’t want to pay him what Arizona did, but there were reports we wanted to keep him if the number didn’t get out of control.

It won’t be the contract AZ gave him, because AZ already paid him all the bonuses. He got an 19m$/yr deal, but it only has 3 years at 14.5m$ a year left. And it’s mostly straight salary so Howie can convert it and save a ton this year and next

Did Devanta look like crap? You can still parse out who is playing well and who isn't. The case could be made that he isn't motivated to play. But that's unprofessional and a terrible trait. I think we sell high here before you get nothing like Bengals with Hendrickson. He could literally hijack this season if he doesn't get what he wants. After Reddick, I don't think Eagles mess around with that idea. If you're not happy, they will ship you out.
