I was thinking the same thing. He doesn't bring much in the pass rush department but sets the edge nicely...we almost paid Jaelan Phillips $30m per year to do the same thing.

The Eagles are relying really heavily on absolutely nailing this draft if they're actually trying to be serious about this season. There is no buzz about them being in on any of these players besides hendrickson and Phillips

The 2 biggest reasons for last season were Patullo and O line injuries. Patullo is gone. New coaching is trying to address that issue and get the offense going again. With O line injuries, they are stuck with those contracts. What do you expect them to do? They have to run it back with them because they can't afford not to. They are stuck with contracts on offense for the guys you have issues with. Howie did just redo Dickerson's contract as he plans to retire earlier. AJ was frustrated with the OC as everyone was, he should not have given poor performance but he hadn't done that in prior years, and they sent a message. We'll see if he gets traded or not, but if he's on the team hopefully he gives effort again under new coaching and knowing he wants to increase his value to another team to get another contract. They need to get some O line depth to step in for the injured guys and prepare for the future.

The only way I see AJ Brown and Dallas Goedert connected is if they trade AJ Brown now they are forced to sign Goedert. Which then makes me question if they even really want Goedert back to begin with.

If goedert extends, it provides the eagle with more cap space to get an Aj Brown trade done before June 1. Now they could always keep AJ Brown, even if they signed daughter because they’re gonna save money with extending Dallas goedert. But in order to for them to trade AJ Brown now they basically kind of need the cap space that they’re gonna get from goedert or they’re gonna be pretty tight against the cap (or even not able to do it) if they don’t do that. So makes more sense if Goedert is extended that aj brown deal could happen not that it will

Purely hypothetical if the rams offered Adams and 13th pick for Aj how does Adams contract affect us and could it be restructured. I view it as no way rams think Aj is going to be happy with his targets with puka, Adams and him. Plus it saves the rams $20 mil to deal Adams with just $8 mil dead money.

FWIW Falcons fans think Ebiketie is just a guy despite homer Eagles fans on social media finding reasons to geek out over it like they do with every move(and did with Ojulari last year). I really wouldn't expect much from him. There's a reason the Falcons spent two 1sts last year on Edge help. It was a major weakness for them and he wasn't an answer. I think if he contributes much of anything for the Eagles in 2026 it's a bonus.

So if we trade AJ for 31 and maybe a mid rounder (Pats have a lot of picks) plus some conditional 3rd or 4th rounder next year would you

This Goedert thing is really going to the wire. Either a bunch of action will happen at once or it will fizzle and the deadline will pass and they'll probably sign Njoku to a smaller deal after and eat the money

Can't afford that with a Brown trade, it lowers your cap space by 20m.

Its not a surprise that a super raw new to football athlete didnt become an excellent player in his first contract.

The question is, will the eagles have him at the right time or will be blossom later, or never at all.

I havent seen anyone geek over it though....

Who’s geeking out? Decently high drafted guy with good measurables going to a new defense. There’s some upside there worth going for, but who thinks he’s gonna be a stud?

I'm on the naive side but I look at it the other way. I think they'd like to bring Goedert back because they wish to trade Brown, but Goedert's camp is holding out for a longer-term offer that doesn't appear to exist in the market. They need that resolved for the cap room to sign a short-term A.J. Brown replacement at WR.

Without Goedert and without an A.J. Brown replacement in free agency, it becomes difficult to trade A.J. Brown. I still think he'll be traded after June 1, regardless, but the dead money hit on Goedert complicates a domino move at WR.

Its interesting that with the Goedert deadline coming up, its also being talked about as the Goedert/AJ Brown deadline and after hearing the eagles only wanted to deal him in the AFC, at the 11th hour, basically, we now have a Rams rumor.

Kinda makes me feel like the Rams are a legit suitor.

Also, eagles beefed up their CB room. That prepares them to try to compete with the Rams if they have Brown and Nukua, and maybe Adams too.

From my reading, Falcons fans are frustrated with this move, as it's a guy they thought had a lot of potential and never reached it there. And figure with the Eagles and their front line he will inevitably play better here. They like him as a rotational DE. This is a tier above from Uche and Ojulari IMO. Dont think he will be sitting on game day. And he hasn't peaked yet. Has room for growth being so new to the sport. I like this potential uncovering of a gem for cheap.

My eyes glaze over when we talk about the cap too much - a good part of the publicly known info is incomplete. But…

It’s my understanding a Goedert extension would help our 2026 cap space, which would enable us to absorb AJ’s dead cap hit if traded before June. Correct or no? Is an AJ trade possible/reasonable without a Goedert extension?

I would also argue that the season being doomed doesn't mean that the FO is inept either.

Life cycles are inevitable. Teams with a prime Brady/Mahomes can extend beyond natural life cycles. That isn't the situation here. Eventually replacing enough Milton Williams, Deans, Phillips, Sweats with those middling FA's gets you to the end of the life cycle.

And if AJ is traded, I'd argue that the talent egress hits a threshold that puts them at an obvious and inevitable point in their life cycle.
