I hate this mock. If that's who is there for the Eagles at 23 I take Parker or trade down.

As an aside, hoping Haulcy is there for them in another round. Like him a lot at safety. I like a lot of safeties in this class.

Logic as he said goes out the window during the draft. People will fall and people will reach.

The team that made the super bowl two years prior was also largely the same on offense.

I think last year was the outlier. The OL issues will be sticky, but with a good OC and playcalling I have confidence the offense can get back on track.

Play calling last year turned some of those OL injuries into potential career altering issues. What Patullo did last year was damn near criminal.

@vikas83 Ive been seeing around 35 million in cap space after the Goedert move. John Clark says 36.

If this were the case we could trade AJ Pre June and still have room for a pretty large FA move or trade, or a few more depth pieces.

That doesn't account for the rookie pool or needing ~$5mm of cap space in season. That knocks off 10-11mm.

Pretty sure that's what he got too but he's just also accounting for an additional 10M for paying draft pick contracts and other things

It feels like a "Throwaway season" for 2026. Reset the O and D respectively, let the new Coaches get their feet wet as a Collective Coaching unit, then attack the 2027 season. Lots of wholes though. And they'll probably lose Fangio to retirement,

I'm a very positive person. 🙃😬😝

No, this is a put up or shut up season. Mainly Siri and Hurts…there is zero ‘throwaway’ thoughts going into the season. Without some major steps forward this season, the O’s window will be effectively slammed shut IMO. There’s soon going to be a resource shift if Q, Coop and Carter are expected to be retained as franchise cornerstones.

I think there's really only one question that matters for the 2026 Eagles: was Kevin Patullo THAT bad that his presence as the playcaller and schematic lead completely torpedoed an otherwise very talented would-be successful offense?

Because they are running it back with an offense that will be a year older, one year balder tires, one year more injury prone...probably going to start more OL combos in 2026 than 2025...and probably/maybe minus their leading receiver. All with no material additions.

So the entire chances of a 2025 below average offense not getting incrementally worse and, instead, actually flipping a switch and being GOOD...rest on the premise that Patullo was SO HORRIBLE his mere elimination will springboard the offense to another level.

This just really feels like wishful thinking. I think there are so many warning lights blinking red on this offense right now....

As I said yesterday, what would you have them do on offense with the roster? They are stuck with most of their starters, Steen is on a rookie deal and played well last year and was healthy.

The issues last year were primarily coaching, and O line injuries to Dickerson, Jurgens and Johnson. The run game suffered because of both of those things. Barkley and Bigsby is a killer 1-2 combo. They have two 1,000 yard receivers and Goedert had 11 TDs and was a red zone threat.

There's no money to make changes on offense, except signing a backup TE for blocking (Mundt). Everyone knows they need to get younger on offense which happens through the draft. So complaining that they are running it back with last year's starters is pointless. They are stuck with the contracts.

They're going to draft some offense, and see how the new coaching goes. They'll have much more flexibility after next season with contracts, guys retiring, etc. And will draft more offense again.

This has been an underachieving offense since 2022, if we’re being honest with ourselves. The problem is when you are expecting a top 3 highest paid group to play like the 12th best and they STILL underachieve and are like 20th or whatever it was.

I do think Patullo was THAT bad. When everyone looks like crap, you gotta put a lot of that on the coaching. But he was far from the only problem.

Gargano said on his show today he thinks Brown is staying. He said AJ Brown bought a house here, and the Eagles talked to him.

it’s probably going to take about the same amount of time (Eric Allen), I think he’s a future HOF’r. He was unbelievably good in Detroit, and arguably the best CB in football when we acquired him, then was everything we hoped and more here.

Injuries and play calling was a snowball rolling down hill. Play calling, aka lets run the IZ or stretch into a stacked box down 2 hats min was mind numbing all season. Hurts refusing to run (or throw at times) didn’t help. I mentioned it earlier, Dickerson and Jurgens’ injuries probably wouldn’t have been as glaring of an issue with some common sense at OC. Basically every drive Patullo was leading them to slaughter.

I saw a quote from Brown on WIP saying not to believe the noise he loves Philly. Was that old or this weekend?

That was old.

Unfortunately Gargano also said the Eagles tried really hard to trade for Greenard but couldn't get it done. Not sure if that means it's dead and this is assuming of course his info is correct. We'll see. Can't go into the draft with what we've got at Edge though. Need an impact one.

I don’t think AJ is anywhere close to leaving Philly. It’s all just trash media. Every other day it’s "he’s going to be traded, he can’t be traded, they’re fielding calls, they’re not exploring options.”

Just doesn’t make sense for the Eagles, in any way.

Now at the end of NEXT season it makes sense. Built-in "option” on his contract. Less cap damage for trading him.

Next off-season we could see a changing of the guard and insane youth movement:

AJ, Lane, Dickerson, Goedert, Baun, Saquon, Elliot all have easy dead cap + savings to deal with to refresh the team.

Over the next 2 seasons we’ll likely be looking at re-signing Carter, N. Smith, Q, Hunt, Ojomo, and DeJean. Reducing dead cap is going to go further for us than rushing a bad deal.

We’ll also be in position in a much better WR draft next season if we deal him for draft capital - with Smitty locked down as the #1 a rookie could do some instant damage.

Lastly - you have this new offensive staff - I’m sure Howie wants to see evidence with comparable offensive alignments. Giving up AJ would create a new excuse/variable to have to see what’s going wrong. Just doesn’t make sense.

People keep saying this is a throw away year and I don't get it. Every team has holes and they don't seem weak enough in too many areas if they keep Brown to not be a good team in the mix of things.

It's just my gut telling me that they will take a step back this season. 8 or 9 wins. Obviously I could be completely wrong and an IDIOT. 🙃

A.K. It is.

Not an idiot at all. They could, but I see the talent on both sides and the potential on offense.

Gruden went into Tampa with a new system and won his first year. It comes down to how hard the players work and continuity which they should have since there won't be many new faces on offense. The OL is a question mark for sure. I keep saying it but F Johnson coming back to be the swing T is big for me. I'd also like to see a vet guard come in.

The biggest thing lacking last year was creativity and adjustments. They'd play well then go cold. Hurts seems genuinely excited about the new OC so I'm optimistic.

On paper they match up with anyone still on both sides of the ball. We'll see what happens.

Goedert for 7 million is a steal.

Unfortunately we are a week into free agency and Howie has done a very poor job otherwise of putting this team together. We are significantly weaker at edge rusher and safety, and weaker in terms of depth at LB, OL, and WR.

Safety is particularly infuriating being that we have Mukuba and Brown and nothing else and the FA market has already dried up. So not only is there no depth but BOTH of the starting spots are major question marks.

If Howie doesn't get his head out of his ass real quick and actually work on making the team better you won't be wrong.

Fred Johnson would be a nice pickup - not sure if the projects have inspired enough confidence yet to fill in during real games (I mean how could they, as they haven't worked with the new OL coaches).

I don’t think Phillips or Blankenship are that big a loss. Huge downgrade seems a little harsh.

Say you want about them but currently the OL has lost Toth and Pryor and added nobody. I get that they will likely draft multiple OL but counting on rookies other than maybe a first round pick to be able to step right in and contribute is foolish. With major health concerns for Dickerson, Jurgens, and Lane it would be stupid not to invest in a couple of quality backup OL with starting experience.

Great post, very good and rational/sound thoughts and points Which I seem to lack! LOL chair

I think they match up with any AFC Team. I'm not so sure about a few NFC Teams.
