I don’t usually get personal on here, but your post hit me. I’ve been where you are. I’ve had a couple suicide attempts in my past and spent time in inpatient treatment afterward. I’m still in therap

I like TJ Parker over Howell if he was available but I really like Dunker and Rutledge

That's 2500 yards for Barkley and 1800 for Bigsby.

Agreed but with Lane and Fred back they can afford to draft a player like him. Me personally, I would rather swing for the fences with him than draft someone safe like Blake Miller.

I guess from my perspective the fences are a little bit closer for Miller and he has a little better history of making solid contact than Max (extensive experience, no medical flags, better armlength/hand size, apparently a hard worker anecdotally and demonstrated through his bench numbers, etc.). So I’m betting on continued linear growth, while you might be assuming exponential improvement.

But given the projects that we have in-house, their similarity to the projects that they looked at so far this draft cycle and that they brought back Fred - it’s possible that we aren’t in dire need of a wide zone tackle at all and might see how it plays out with the lottery tickets that Howie already bought. That would seem to me a bold/risky strategy or perhaps an elaborate smokescreen.

IMO, Max Iheanachor is a perfect pick at 23. I'd trade up in round 2 for a guard too. The OL version of Mitchell and Coop.

I don't usually agree with you but absolutely. I am not at all opposed to drafting a tackle and guard with the first two picks and to be honest I would be a little bit disappointed if they didn't address both by the end of day two. Also Iheanachor and the Eagles might just be a perfect fit for each other since he is more of a project who needs time but has more upside than some of the other tackle options who could be there at 23.

I have a feeling either Freeling or Iheanachor will be an Eagle. They like to take high upside OL. I wouldn’t say Iheanachor is a perfect pick. He hasn’t played a lot of football. But he has potential.

I think Lomu seems to have been slept on recently, he has a lot of the same problems that most of the top guys have - lack of experience and play strength as an underclassmen, but he has played a fair amount LT which is one less thing to translate when making an evaluation (and most the other top prospects haven’t). I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes earlier than expected and ahead of our pick.

His lack of strength scares me which is one of the reasons I have no interest. At least with guys like Iheanachor and Proctor you know they have the physical tools it's just can they master the nuances. I don't know if Lumo has the physical tools.

I really good healthy center would be a good pickup.

Here are your OTs picked from 20-32 in the last 5 drafts.

How often is there one who you were really comfortable with? How many are complete busts?

How often did those guys look like the best players selected in that range of the draft?

I think OT in this area of the draft, especially in this draft class is a horrible mistake.

Look at how many busts there are period. We are looking for Lane Johnson’s replacement, good luck with that. Tackle prospects that run in 4.7s, have 35” arms and what it takes between the ears are probably the closest thing to ‘generational’ as you’ll find. And even he had to take the vitamins to get his play strength up.

I think with this group you’re hoping for Garrett Bolles, but outside of the top-10 in most drafts there’s going to be a lot of warts.

Obviously there are several positions that we need to consider but in the end of the day we need to reinvest in the OL for the long term. With Fred back we have the option of going IOL with either of the top picks and waiting another year for Lane's replacement. Having said that, if "the guy" at RT is there we should strike this year. One of the top two picks will be on the OL.

The other pick in the 1st two rounds can be at Edge or S. Also, TE is a dark horse and I expect we take one but might be in the 3rd.

I think outside of Morgan the OTs stack up fairly well.

Darrisaw is a stud. Smith ended up as an elite guard who could be very good at tackle. If you don’t want to count him because he is a guard that’s fine.

Harrison is a solid right tackle who will get paid a lot of money.

Morgan looks like a big miss. Guyton is a good player.

It’s too early to make big proclamations about last year’s draft, but Simmons is trending toward being a hit. Conerly was up and down with his transition to RT but finished the season strong.

Taking a TE in the 1st feels like a waste

It would have to be a special guy at the right spot. Highly doubtful.

Personally, I don’t mind it. Folks might think of these as luxury picks, but short-term I don’t trust either Lane or Landon not to go down for a stretch this year so the immediate depth is needed. Long-term it is very possible both are gone next year (or we let Steen walk), so again, good to have some developing players in the pipeline.

Priapism.

After the first night Id be very iffy.

After adding Rutledge to the equation I'll be focused on excitement for remaking the OL.

I'll go one further and tell you I wont even be mad if they go Iheanachor, Dunker, Rutledge. I'll be ecstatic.

I like Iheanachor but not with the 23rd pick. He is a RT only and somewhat of a project. I would bet even now one month out they will not pick him with pick 23. Maybe they trade down, maybe not but not with #23.

Not sure OT is as immediate need as some herein. Thus I wonder if Isiah World from Oregon might be a pick Day 3. Probably won’t play this year but I think he would be in discussion with the OTs prognosticators are putting Round 1 grades on this year. Both LT and RT experience and I think at his size, could play G too, 6’ 7”, 320 lbs. 34 1/2 inch arms. Everything he has weakness with are things that can be fixed with good coaching.

At the end of the day i have serious doubts that this is the last we hear about Carter's shoulders and we saw how badly that issue impacted him this year. With someone who plays as violently as he does, I imagine this is going to be a recurring issue. Trade him for Garrett, trade him for a bunch of picks, whatever. But (and I know this was not what you two said) I don't view Carter as "totally unavailable price be damned" piece like Q or Coop.

Well, I do, so there we are. In your view a trade is justified; in mine, it is not.

I agree. There are several guys whom I like (like Klein[100+] University Of Michigan Wallpapers | Wallpapers.com) who are pretty good and can be had later.
