If you have a surefire better option, sure. If you want someone who is going to secure the catch without letting it roll past leading to a loss of yardage, making the offense's job harder, then I have no issue with the decision to use DJ.

Fair enough and there's not enough evidence to suggest ward wouldn't have done the same.

I'm going to guess the thought when desean approached fipp wasn't hey fill let me return this punt I won't let it roll.

The hope was desean would break one loose.

Recent Past history suggests that was highly unlikely and recent history suggests that he'd get hurt

Not only that ward had fumbled earlier on a punt and the analytics show he’s fumbled on only 16 returns (one 4 days earlier late in the game). So that’s also a factor.

In another 10 years or so everyone will say they loved both of them. Kinda like Cunningham and Jaworski.

I never liked Randall. Jaws was the mang.

Well that's not right I loved Randall the year he was like 30 and 6. Won me a whole lotta money.

Other than that, kind of knew they were going nowhere with him.

I don't expect DJ to break one, but Ward does have enough of a recent history to suggest letting it hit the ground and roll further is a very real possibility.

What a joke. What is wrong with this coaching staff

My guess would be that he does know and the coaches don't want to give the cowboys any time to prepare for whose at O line

If Mailata honestly doesn't know that's a bad look for the coaches

Samuel looked like he got shot out of a cannon.

True that and still I doubt that was deseans Intent when approaching fipp to return the punt.

did you get a WR or LB in round 3?

And whoever started THAT.... you're not getting Wade at pick 19 .  Keep dreaming.

Again, it’s likely he doesn’t know where he is playing Sunday night because it is dependent upon Lane Johnson’s status.

Which is absolutely MORONIC because JP should be playing RG, and Mailata should stay "right where he is"

Who in the world can't see that JP doesn't have the feet anymore to play LT in the NFL ? What are you people looking at?

I'm sure it wasn't. I don't doubt that in DJ's mind, he probably thinks he can play like he's 25 again.

That makes sense.

If Lane plays which I don't think he should and they keep Peters in and bench Mailata then that's no bueno.☹️

And if Lane sits out?

Yup.  Johnson is a game time decision, from the sound of it.  If Lane can go, Mailata plays LT, if not, he plays RT.   Its not rocket science, nor is it 'a bad look' for the coaches.

The nonsense being thrown around tonight is making me sad.

If that’s the case.  Then it’s the Eagles trying to be to f-ing and smarter than everyone else.  They have earned the benefit of the doubt.

Nope.  Its waiting to make a call on Johnson until they have to.  Its a medical decision not trying to be smarter than everyone else.

Yup he's always had a chip and he's a competitor. I would have loved more than anything to see him rip one off and not get injured.

It's sad and frustrating.

Find an example of Ward fielding a punt that he wasn't camped under before he caught it.   Just one.   Until you have that evidence, there is absolutely no shred of evidence that Ward would have done the same, because he never has.

Play JP on the right side. Why move Mailata?

It's obvious to anybody reading the papers (assuming the reporters know their beat) that Jason Peters can tell everybody on that team exactly where HE wants to play.

Oh so the stuff I read on the Internet is BS? Thank God.

Sorry I read some story that said he was back and Practicing as the starting left tackle. Find out Sunday I guess.

It’s dumb.  Make the decision for Johnson and get the healthy guys ready to play.  This last minute shuffling is not helpful.

If they can have Mailata at LT and Johnson at RT... that's the best solution.

Dude you need a nap.

If coaches flat out don't let a player know where he is going to play leading up to the game that's idiocy.

In this case it makes sense the reason is because Lane is a game time decision which I didn't take into account as I thought Lane was already out.

Having said that it would make sense to keep those decisions close to the vest as to not give the opposition any more than they already know, but I think it's more likely as mentioned because of the Lane situation.

What's nonsense is you passive aggressively calling my post nonsense, irrelevant, or without any knowledge of the nuances of football.

Seems like you may need a nap or maybe just a hug.

Yep.  If Lane Johnson can't go then you put Pryor at RT as bad as he is.  You keep Mailata at LT.  JP at RG, Herbig at LG and that's that.  They are setting themselves up to fail.

If Lane is a game time decision then they should be smart and just hold him out until after the bye week.  I hate hearing DP say if Lane wants to play I'm not getting in his way.  Lane could be 80% this week, get dinged up and have to go into the bye week at 70%.  He could just stay out and get as close to 100% as possible.  I really don't how this situation is playing out and how the Eagles are handling it.
