Well, after reading over the last few pages you know who the anti-Wentz trident of posters are who like each others' posts and pat each others' backs.  Or you could just probably call them "Three posters @greend has on ignore".  😁  "Bye".

On the surface, I want Bieniemy.

AR has built the NFL's prototypical offense.  He was fatally flawed, but way ahead of his time when he was here.  Sign me up for that blueprint with his right hand.

BUT...that's the mistake all owners make.  Just hire any Belichick assistant.  Just hire anyone who has been compared to Sean Mcvay.  Just hire anyone who has coached Peyton Manning.  All of those mistakes have been made several times over.

I want a coach who graduated from AR's Harvard School of Offense...but they need to be sure he is his own man who can adapt and think on his own, under new circumstances.  And I have absolutely no idea if that applies to Bieniemy.

One other issue...the blog has dismissed this before...but so much of these jobs are backroom conversations and handshakes.  Firing one AR disciple to hire another will be tricky.

Again, I just don't see it with Bieniemy.  He has the best QB in the world with one of the most dangerous WR and TE combos in the league.  All Bieniemy has to do is not mess it up.

I hate to say it but if Bieniemy was a white guy would people be pounding the pavement for him to be a HC?  I don't mean that in any racist way, it's just an honest question because when you're hiring a head coach you want someone who has shown he has something special, something unique and the ability to make less than average and average players play up to and over their potential.  He's been given the keys to a Ferrari and asked not to wreck it.  I want a guy who can take rust make it a show car.

I'll give you the O line injuries but Covid has affected everyone equally

It has. Ravens just closed down their facility. Cowpads are basement dwellers. 49ers from first to....   Bottom line is Covid is impacting the whole NFL season. At this point do we really want to be the team in a Super Bowl with no fans.  Eagles are in a retooling phase. Some hits and some misses and a season or two away.

That’s tweet is so off base. There is a cap floor teams have to hit. There is no surplus from the Banner years over a decade ago

We did hire that guy...  his name was Doug Pederson.

I want to get away from the Andy tree this time around.  Something truly fresh would be nice, but not a dope like Chip Kelly.
My list is Joe Brady and Graham Harrell, as I said earlier.  Young, innovative, spread concepts.

I agree with this.  I want to get away from the AR tree.  We need new, fresh ideas.

So you are ready to move on from Wentz.

Not necessarily.  I want to see him succeed here.  Over the years, there have been certain players whose approach to the game or whose fixed deficits annoyed me to no end.  I eagerly awaited their departures.

Carson Wentz is not one of those players.

So I'm not necessarily ready or eager to move on, but I'm certainly looking past him.  And I don't want anyone in control who isn't willing to do that.

When was the last time you saw that kind of effort from an Eagles receiver?

I think Ward and Fulgham give effort every play.  Reagor is banged up and Hightower is what he is.  DJax was giving what he had when he got sucker punched.

If we retained Doug and decided to clean house with his assistants, why kind of candidates would we attract? Doug would be on the hot seat entering 2021, and what good candidate would want to join for what could be a one and done scenario?

He would at minimum have to give up play calling. Even then I don’t think people would be lining up. One guy I haven’t seen mentioned I’d want to bring in is Pep Hamilton. Maybe he could salvage Wentz.

I'd rather be the team in the SB with no fans than the team that loses in the first round of the playoffs with no fans.

But if I only got 1 year to enjoy a SB, it would be a tragedy if 2020 was the year.

Calling this a retooling phase when the coach and GM refuse to make decisions accordingly is not in line with the actions of the organization.  Some hits and misses is an outrageously generous assessment of the personnel moves.

You are unfamiliar with the Super Bowl loser curse?   Super Bowl losers almost always miss the Playoffs the following year.  Very few exceptions to that over the past 20 years... (Patriots excepted).

Agree anyone that says they won't coach here because of Wentz is probably a tater

No, most people in the coaching world, except for the select few big brand names, would crawl all over themselves for a crack at one of the 32 NFL HC jobs.  And they'd be happy to take a crack at salvaging Wentz' impressive arm talent.

But anyone worth their salt and capable of thinking a few moves in advance would also be sure to disconnect their job security from the outcome of their little Wentz salvage project when they discuss their plans with Lurie.

If they are only here to fix Wentz at all costs, then no, this isn't a good job.

Wentz is a one year reclamation project for any one hired this year, if they pull the plug on Doug.   They can't move on from Wentz until 2022, so they might as well make the most of it... but I see that as primarily a mulligan year.

Found out that my roommate tested positive for Covid. Good news is I have no symptoms and my poop is solid.

It is a tricky misalignment though.

If you've got 2 years to fix Wentz and you do not turn it around (the odds are against it)...everyone knows what NFL stands for; patience wears thin.  That coach has just burned through 2 years of his success timeframe.  And then he's either already on the hotseat because they just lost 13 games and are picking top 5...or he's in no position to get a new franchise QB to hitch his wagon to.

Good luck. I hope you somehow manage to not get it. And if you do, I hope its symptom free.

Who said 2 years?  They are locked in to him for 2021.  Nothing they can do.  2022 (before the season) they can move on, if they choose.  So, its locked in for 1 year... the second would be up to the new coach.  And if you hire the guy you think... then you do what you have to do to get him his QB, regardless of where you are picking.   But, you don't have to be top 5 any more to get a top QB.  Mahomes wasn't, Brees wasn't... lots of QBs playing well weren't top 5.  Just get into the top 15 and you can make it happen...   The key is also being able to draft at other positions with limited picks if you trade up.  That's what sunk the Eagles with the Wentz trade.  No good players to go with him as well.  Therein lies a lot of the problem.  Lack of talent, lack of creativity, lack of execution.  Wentz (and his teammates) is only responsible for 1 of those.  Howie and Doug et al are responsible for the other 2.

Make sure you have plenty of toilet paper to defeat said covid

Fun stats for everyone who thinks the Eagles actually figured anything at all out with regards to their weapon/pass catching situation:

Richard Rodgers is 2nd on the team in receiving yards and yards per catch (excluding players with <10 rec).

Greg Ward leads the team in receptions.  He is on track to have the lowest single season average yards per catch of any WR with 50 receptions in NFL history.

Since 2016, they have invested the following in WRs:  1st (Reagor), 2nd (JJAW), 3rd (Tate trade), 4th (Hollins), 5th (Gibson), 5th (Hightower), 6th (Watkins). $$$Alshon, $$$+trade Desean.

This investment has given the Eagles 577 yards and 1 TD this year.

They have more receptions, yards, and TDs from players they pulled off the street than they do from players they invested in.

The Eagles won a SB after the Wentz trade.  That didn't sink them.  Blowing every single pick they had after him did.  They even lucked into a 1st rounder for Bradford, which they converted into a 3rd round pass rushing talent.  They had opportunities.

Has anyone suggested they have?

You can add Fulgham to that list.  He's likely the 3rd guy in terms of production.  Also a street pickup.

I remember at the start when people raided TP aisles of stores and others joked about how much people were pooping in quarantine like it made no sense to grab all the TP you could find. Well, turns out COVID was a reason to stock up after all.

Have you kissed him? If not, you're probably fine.
