Watching the All-22, Derek Barnett absolutely exploded off the line on that 4th down stop at the 2 yardline.  Blew by Metcalf and shed the Guard...was not "pancaked" on that play @HazletonEagle

Barnett played exceptionally well.

I had to work, so I only watched the first quarter and caught the rest on the radio.  The first quarter scuffle I saw both players should have been penalized.  It was multiple hands to the face by Metcalf before they split up — Slay went back at him after the whistle.

Unless there was another separate incident I didn’t see

Yup that’s what I was saying during the game, he got a penalty because he was a bone head and went back at him after they were separated

Anybody here have Cox cable? Is ESPN always acting F***y and having intermittent freezing issues? Games have been borderline unwatchable for me lately.

For the first time all season...

I wish I could show up to work every 5 weeks and people say I’m doing exceptionally well....

What?  This post has been up for a full 2 minutes and HE hasn't liked it yet?  Bolderdash!

The "alley oop" from Fulgham to Rodgers on the bomb TD in the endzone was by design.  Underappreciated play by Fulgham....he made that play work by "going up for the alley oop" and deflecting it to Rodgers.  Great ball placement by Wentz on that play as well.

Some people in here have a weird obsession with slighting Barnett’s good plays.

He’s has 5.5 sacks in 10 games. That’s good enough for an 8.8 pace over 16 games.

It’s cause of HE lol

He’s an average to slightly above average at times player. If he was a third or fourth rounder, he’d be a home run. With that said, he played great last week. But he’s not consistent.

People say he got pancaked as if the guard didn’t tackle him because he shot the gap too quickly for Metcalf to block.

That’s a damn good play, and he blew it up along with Hargrave.

We’re talking about a 3 and a 5 and a below market deal for a top corner. You don’t have to be a legit SB contender to make that move.

What you saw as an 8-8 team (after Brooks got hurt... the Eagles traded for Slay before that) they may have seen as 9-7 or 10-6 in a bad division and a wide open NFC.

Let’s save "bad trade” labels for actual bad trades, like Golden Tate and Genard Avery.

I don't see how it's 'below market'.

Looks like pretty much 'market value' to me, only it also cost draft capital.   The only part that was 'below' value was 2020.  2021-2023 are all 'at market value'.  And even if you average 2020 in to the cost of that contract, it knocks him down to $15.1M/year, which pushes only Jones over him... so he's being paid as a top 5 or 6 in the NFL.  How exactly does that equate to 'below market'?

I wouldn’t say he’s been ideal as the 14th pick, but he’s a better player than given credit for by many.

You’re looking at deals with all the funny money included.

His 2020 and 2021 seasons are below market even including a potential dead cap of $6.5M in 2022.

It’s ok as far as sacks go but he hasn’t ranked higher than 28th best DE all season according to most stats sites like PFF and DVOA.

So he has shown up more than once all season?

I never called it a bad trade. I said i wouldn’t have done it knowing this team wasn’t a true super bowl contender and by the time they were you’d have had him outside of his prime. That’s much different than a bad trade. That’s a trade where it doesn’t help you as much as you think it does considering they weren’t a sb contender

Just saying this team could have easily overpaid for Byron jones (younger probably more prime years left) so miami just gives up and kept the 3rd and 5th and added two more players. Could’ve gone after Bradbury as well. So in that instance i get a corner and have two more players who are young and cheap added onto the team. That was the alternative plan the eagles could’ve gone with. Not saying it was a right move for either just saying the alternative

also i saw them as a 8-8 team before brooks got hurt. I said i wanted to change it to 7-9 after he got hurt but didn’t. So it was true on my opinion they were going to take a step back this year regardless if brooks was healthy or not.

There is so much ammo to argue "fire Howie" and yet I read goofs on here going after Darius Slay, Malik Jackson, and receiver who's played like 6 or 7 games.

I can't wait for this trash season to be over...

So, we gave up a 3rd and 5th round pick for a 2 year rental.   Awesome.

Oh... and a $6.5M dead cap chaser... the Howie special!!!  That will go nicely with the empty years on Cox's deal, Desean's deal, Jeffery's, and countless others.

Potentially, yes. Or we could have drafted Rasul Douglas and Donnell Pumphrey with those picks.

Including his dead cap in 2022, we would have used up a total of $26.5M in cap space for Slay. That’s good.

Using Howie's pathetic drafting history to defend his trades... that's not a great defense.

$26.5M for 2 years is still $13M average... which makes him a top 10 paid CB (and those other CB's contracts have 'funny money' as you say in them as well, so likely a little higher.   I still don't see him being paid significantly under market value.

If he were a FA he would have gotten more, and it wouldn’t have such a team friendly structure.

No one is going after Darius Slay or Reagor.
