Translation:  "Ward knows he sucks at returning punts and I have no idea what I am doing, like most of the coaching staff".

It's about punt returns.  Greg Ward is the punt returner.  And he sucks.

I know it's about punt returns but the return game in general seems to be fading away, kickoffs and punt returns.

Riley would be an excellent chance to take - the game is moving in his direction more and more.

But, I'm not against anyone with fresh ideas.  Doug's ideas are quite stale now.

Agreed. Only way I'd even entertain keeping Doug is if we hire an OC who is 100% in charge of the offense. I'm fine with Doug as a CEO type since players love him, but we need a new approach.

Riley, like Matt Rhule, will be a good NFL coach whenever he wants. His offenses have worked with different style of QBs (Mayfield, Murray, Hurts). He's constantly scheming guys open. Big 12 or not, that matters. He's put up points against Alabama/Georgia in playoff games too, but his defense let him down.

That said, there's no chance Howie hires another college coach. I do think he'd go after Daboll.

We should hire Riley just to upset Jerry Jones.

They might hit him with that ultimatum this offseason.  Either stay as HC and let someone else run the offense or hit the road.

I wish some of these Wentz bashers would be banned.  You are all intolerable.  You accuse everyone of being "Wentz washers" and making excuses for the guy, but every one of you is completely incapable of having an intelligent conversation about the other problems on this team.  The irony punches you right in the face.  None of you are real fans of this team.

You've all been hiding under the shadow of Nick's big D the past few years, waiting for the exact moment to spread your parasitic agenda to the majority of fans that actually love the team and understand the game of football.  If anyone is pissed off about Hurts looking like a decent QB in his first start, the only reason is having to read the 4th grade crap that you spew out on this blog on a daily basis.

Sure looked like it. It was cool to see a win but I’m not going to pretend that it was because of a great performance

when was the last time you saw a great performance from an Eagles team?

Let's take it one game at a time and see what happens.  If they decide to go the Hurts route, I think it could be a hybrid between what the Chiefs are doing and what the Ravens are doing.  But even that is putting the cart in front of the horse at this point.

I think it's ridiculous that people continually think that any team should try and emulate the Chiefs. The Chiefs go as Mahomes goes. That guy is on another planet talent wise, and we'll see how his career goes, but so far, he looks just outta this world. Rodgers would be having an easy MVP season (leads in almost all major categories) but Mahomes will likely still walk away with the trophy. I can't remember a team that can get down by double digit points, and you just know they are going to come back, and usually with ease. You can't replicate Mahomes, never mind Kelce/Hill et al. It's not realistic in any way.

The "Patriots Way" (outside of blatant cheating) was with good defense that created timely turnovers, combined with a legendary QB who's best attribute was moving the chains and not making dumb mistakes, as well as coming up with clutch drives when needed.

Outside of that, you get the one offs, like Peyton in Denver with a ridiculous defense, or our own Eagles team which also won with a rock solid defense and a beautiful mix of pass/run.

The Ravens are not a team to be emulated for their offense. It's crap, and it gets exposed in the playoffs when they force Lamar to be a passer. You can't explain that away, though I notice you dodge it every chance you get. You can be great during the regular season doing that, but who cares about regular season results if you lose your first playoff game every year?

The problem with the current Eagles is they have no cohesive vision for building the roster. First they wanted to load up on 12 personnel and big bodies that "played above the rim". Well that didn't work so well, so then we went with pure speed guys to open up the field. That appears to also be a fail, because Doug doesn't know how to mesh the speed guys with the leftover 12 personnel junk.

So is he.

All I'm saying is you dont see big returns or TDs like you used to.

Relax....you guys know more football than me.  You happy?

We have no CBs. He's gotta stay there.

I'm guessing it's K'Von Wallace as the FS with Mills as the SS. Wallace was projected to be a nickle safety given his best strength is quickness. Asking him to be a post safety could be rough.

Teams using play-action deep shots are going to give us trouble. Down the stretch, that's Kirk, Gallup and McLaurin.

Epps is the only FS on the roster besides McLeod. That’s why it is a must obtain position in next year’s draft. IMHO

You want to go hybrid between the Chiefs/Ravens. Two talents are out of this world

While you have a roster(which some defense add ons) that is currently built to be the titans, 49ers, Rams.

I think he might actually be Doug. I've never seen him say a bad word about the guy, not even once.

Are you sure?  Eagles avg 9.4 yards a return on punts which is probably middle of the pack.  There are teams that avg 3, 4, 5 yards a punt return.

So Reagor has an ego?

Apparently, because he actually tried to make a play instead of letting the ball bounce to the 5.

I wouldn't mind ward so much at PR if he didn't make so many poor decisions on letting balls bounce. He's sure handed when he does catch it and everyone knows once he catches hes doing nothing with the ball and the amount of times he doesn't field catchable punts is worrisome.

I'd rather take chances with reagor  that he actually makes a play

What? You were saying you don't see as many punt return TDs anymore, at least, that's how I read your post? The stats would support your eyes.

One of the best throws I've ever seen by any qb

Jack Driscoll out for the year. This team just can't stay healthy.

2 minutes ago, Bacarty2 said:

If you run scheme like the Titans/9ers/Rams, use the motion, the play action and got some help on D this would be a 10 win team. Zero QB issues. and probably a 1st round win

Honestly I think the addition of a more durable RB in the mold of a Blount, with a playmaker on defense and an entirely new coaching system could turn this entire thing around. Easier said than done, obviously. And long term there are obviously some big issues to work out with aging vets. But we're not as far off as some think.

We've actually been decently healthy this year. But, for the third year in a row, an entire position group has been snake bitten. DBs two years ago, WRs last year, now OL

They just continue to water down the product. Thursday Night Football blows, with Thanksgiving being the exception. We don't need more football during the week, it's just going to result in worse games.

Thank god the eagles won that super bowl because idk how much longer I can watch the NFL with the direction they've been going lately. When I'm home I can barely stand watching our games let alone any others, and I used to be someone who would watch football from 1pm to whenever the night game ended.

You don't like  the direction the NFL is going????

So how are the hurtin for Hurts crew this morning? Don't bother answering since I have all of you on ignore?

Seems funny to me that every post that names a problem with the team this year has to include the disclaimer "Wentz isn't playing well" or the hurtin for Hurts crew has to cry about "Wentz washers".

So I will try to clear it all up for you since most of you evidently have a first grade education and no more. WE ALL KNOW WENTZ WASN'T PLAYING WELL.

@Mike030270

See what I’m saying? It isn’t just the guys who have issues with Wentz name calling even the Ole Blog Faithful do it. This doesn’t offend me just showing ya it goes both ways.
