Not sure I'd take Surtain with a top 10 pick.  They definitely need an overhaul at the CB position except Slay.

It's hard enough to stop offenses today and there arent many shutdown CBs anymore.  Just give me players who are solid in coverage, will be in good position to make a play and most importantly can tackle in the open field.  They need to start drafting guys that excel at tackling because too many big plays have happened from poor or missed tackles.

Agreed. I hate that we have the need of CB so badly that we have to consider top 10 as a potential CB pick. I don't think we will ever see a true shut down corner again which devalues the position. Out of the last 5 years, top 10 CB's were Okudah, Henderson, Ward, Ramsey, Apple. A mixed bag.

My guess is they go

Dillard-Herbig-Seamulo-Brooks-Johnson

That's assuming Kelce retires.  Mailata and Driscoll are the top 2 backup tackles.  They would need to address Guard if Seamulo moves to center.  Pryor shouldn't be here in 2021 and not sure who else they have at the position.

In that scenario, if Dillard looks like what I expect him to be, Mailata spends a ton of time learning right tackle to take over for Lane.

Driscoll would be the backup OG in that situation.

After 1 year I think the Jets had the best draft last year.

I will say I;m in the minority and I think Darnold is goo.

I actually don’t think darnold is as bad as he’s looked. Gase is awful as a coach and the talent around him is really not ideal for a young QB. I’d be willing to give him another year if i were the Jets and disliked or weren’t really in love with every other QB in this draft after Lawrence.

First and foremost we need guy who can stay healthy. Like you said there really aren't many shutdown corners anymore but we can certainly do much better. It's not like the Cowboys put up 400+ passing yards and 37 points every week. I said the other day that the entire secondary needs to be rebuilt. As much as I like Slay there's a good chance he's not here after 2022 and we probably need to think about that now rather than wait til he's gone and sign another Byron Maxwell or Nnamdi Asomugha.

One of my favorite quotes from that movie, and to this day I will say this at a baseball game when a homerun is hit, and usually no one knows what the hell Im talking about

Change the coaching staff, and I think the health situation changes.  I think Doug's platform of practices, etc. is why there's so many injuries.

Needs to be a new coaching staff, new strength and conditioning group, the works.

Wow!!  Apropos to our current discussion here.

Pederson all but saying he wants a voice in personnel, and then having to walk it back, but not doing the best job of it.

Pretty clear that Doug does not believe he has been part of the alleged "collaboration" on personnel.  If accurate, an even more damning indictment of the current personnel team.

People often ask: "why listen to press conferences, anyway???"

This is why

Tbh, this kind of changes my view of Doug.  I have a lot of issues with his situational playcalling and inability to consistently design an effective game plan

BUT, if this is true, and the signs are sure as hell there that it is true, then this is a pretty searing indictment of Howie IMO.

The fact that Doug feels the need to walk back his comments about merely wanting to play a role in personnel evaluations is ridiculous.  Of course the head freaking coach should have a say in who plays on his football team

Is there some kind of reason like he can't work out at the linc w/o this?

Uhhhh, ok? Can someone explain to this me like I'm an idiot? How important are two practices and a walkthrough for his rehab when he's going on a 7 month vacation starting next Monday?

🤦‍♂️

If Brooks plays, then the only thing that would make sense to me would be to showcase his health, and then trade him in the offseason.   Anything other than that, literally, no other decision that could possibly exist about this would make even a shred of sense.

Beats me. He can't work out with the team without doing this but I have no idea why they feel its important for a 31 year old vet get individual work for literally two days. Go do the rehab with someone somewhere else.

It's part of why I keep saying, the Birds are 2 years beyond Howie's firing before they can begin to compete for anything of significance.

Maybe the team and he wants it that way.

Sounds like putting gas in the tank of a car you just totaled.

I guess. In any other year this wouldn't happen though, it's only happening because of COVID and an unlimited amount of guys are able to return from IR. Feels like they are playing the "we are smarter than everyone else" card again.

Seems more like putting sand in the gas tank to me.

Davion Taylor should take as many snaps as he can. He needs the reps.

I'm still waiting for the Cox/Barnett/Goedert IR designations.

Are they though?  Are they?    And can they really think that they are anymore?
