I wonder if Lurie actually understands the fans feelings after this season?  The level of incompetence is on many levels. This isn't Saints playoff loss in the 2018 season; fans are po'd and the media are out for blood.  Changing the deckchairs and music selection on the Titanic won't stop it sinking.  The moment for the Eagles to blow it all up is now. Not in a years time. It'll be another year of cap can kicking, another year of young players stuck in first gear, etc.

Ugh

Well if the reports are true that Schwartz plans on leaving after the season, he will be missed, imo.  He's done A LOT with a "little" the vast majority of his tenure here.  Between the myriad of injuries he's had to deal with and the players that didn't pan out....he's done a good job, imo.

Every defensive coordinator will have a "down game" here and there...especially in the current state of the offensive minded NFL.

That said, he's  been unfairly criticized for most of his tenure here by certain fans that truly do not understand the hands he's been dealt and the nuances of running an NFL defense in 2020.   I wish him the best and can only hope the Eagles find a viable replacement.

Adios no YAC Zach! But really I appreciate the middle years of his tenure here.

Up until he got ripped by the fans for purposely missing a block that got wentz crushed he was soft as baby ish, after that he actually tried and I began to like him. And then this year he played like ish and never looked like he cared. But I'll always appreciate the super bowl year and his contributions in that game were monumental.

He did the same crap Jackson did years ago during his contract year. Didn't expect that from Ertz

It's still early bur if he continues to improve at this pace, he could go down as one of the best values in Eagles history.  What a story so far and hopefully it will only get better.

Job well done, Jordan!

Whoever is at QB is going to get hurt tomorrow

You can understand, but not care.  I just wonder if avoiding a single personnel decision in the FO will be the reason for what we see in the coming weeks.  Employees protecting their hides don't make good long-term decisions.

Not an evaluation game. Run first QB game -- Run Forrest Run, for your life. Let's hope nobody gets hurt, draft position improves and we send an F U to the Cowboys! Maybe the WFT will give Gym Shorts a hat.

For the record, I do think it was time to move past Schwartz.

But the post-mortem is a little more complex than that.  In some ways...perhaps unintentionally...I think Schwartz was ahead of his time.  He consistently produced unspectacular but above average defenses despite having very little star power.

Some of that is his own fault.  His defenses were somewhat vanilla, are not aggressive, and really are not conducive to allowing anyone to take over games or become stars.

But look at the direction of the nfl.  Defenses have been neutered.  Hit someone too hard and it’s a penalty, especially qbs and wrs.  Forget about winning a championship on the shoulders of your defense.

If you can consistently churn out slightly above average defenses with modest investment, that’s the way to go.  Now, I’m not sure that’s how Schwartz planned it, but that is what we got, with the exception of the bad over investment at DT.

Thats better than a delusional 30/40 something DC like McDermott, who expected to redefine NFL defense with an exceedingly complex scheme.

Nothing to add. I just wanted a post on page 2500!

It’s frankly why I wouldn’t start either one of them. You don’t need Jalen hurts or Carson Wentz going into that game having a season ending injury that leaks into 2021. The amount of guys you’ve already labeled as out for that game means you don’t think you’re gonna win anyways or it really doesn’t matter all that much to you. Even if Jalen hurts goes out there and loses and doesn’t look good, it doesn’t say anything to me because you don’t have enough guys out there. I don’t need hurts or Carson getting hurt in that game. It is a meaningless game for the Philadelphia Eagles and i don’t need to be at a disadvantage heading into 2021 because you decided to be idiotic in a week 17 game where you’re down to fourth and fifth string tackles.

I guess this thread closes tomorrow for the off-season thread.

I'm sure not trotting Wentz out there.  Whether he starts next year (likely so) or is trade bait (likely not), we don't need him hurt.

I’d go sudfeld tbh

My opinion. The only reason to not go Hurts is if Wentz is going to be gone.  He needs the reps.

Like if they know it’s a tank you aren’t helping hurts either. Just play sudfeld

Preseason.  Game 4.

I’d play Sudfeld to prepare him to be the 2021 starter so we can trade Hurts AND Wentz.

And pick top 2 in 2022.

Play Doug Pederson at QB

DT is where you over invest in imo. The way the game is being called I think the best defenses will be the ones that can consistently collapse the pocket. Malik was not a good signing but I don’t think it was horrible either.

I’m predicting right now the Eagles go 10-6 in 2021
