I don't believe that new Wentz story for one second. Its the media creating a storm and putting 2 and 2 together and getting 14.

I could possibly see Wentz wanting to be traded to be guaranteed a starting job, but I don't think it has to do with his relationship with Doug.  If anything, Wentz might be more upset at Howie for drafting Hurts.  But, Carson needs to wake up and realize that he has to make some serious changes to his mechanics. Accuracy has a lot to do with footwork and arm slot/release point. If he just wants to keep slinging it without working on those things, then his career will be pretty short.

For the first time in a while, I'm incredibly disappointed with Lurie. He dragged his feet and ultimately allowed this toxic environment to destroy the team. The buck stops with him, he had a chance to nip this in the bud and did nothing. This is what happens when you wait until the offseason to take out the trash. The stink lingers all season long and eventually players start looking elsewhere. Can't say I blame any of them either.

So while they are credible and no doubt they heard things the biggest question from unnamed sources are if the source is credible not the person reporting it.  Is it Howie or Doug or just a random person in the front office without first hand knowledge or is it Kelce or Cox or just a random player on the team or is it wentz agent or just a random agent over hearing conversations.  I don’t question the report but I always take them with a grain of salt when they come from unnamed sources.

I don’t think Schefter and Mort come out with something like that unless it’s a very credible source.

If true buh bye. I don't want guys on the team that don't want to be here

Tate for the last two months: "Wentz should be traded to the Colts so he can be with Frank Reich!”

ESPN today : "Wentz could be traded to the Colts so he can with Frank Reich.”

Agreed

False. He's been proven right.

I believe Schefter and Mort. They aren’t the types to create drama. They have credible sources. What Schefter reported two weeks ago was true, he just reported it too early.

Lurie has allowed his personal relationship with Howie to affect how he runs the team.  I don't know of many personnel guys that have as long of a run as Howie has been given and been given his job back after a couple of years of doing something else.  Lurie can't let Howie go.  And, if Howie hadn't co-signed on Chip becoming the HC, then Howie would've never lost his control to Chip in the first place. I think that is a major reason why Howie and Lurie signed Doug. Doug wasn't a threat to wanting personnel control.  So, Howie was free and clear.

This also makes me wonder if Doug wanted Hurts.

So let’s blindly support the idea rather than question the cause.

Uh. Wrong!  He backtracked the same day.  What about that don’t you get?

He's a .500 qb. If he stays cool hopefully he plays like he did in 2017. If he goes oh well

No.  He backtracked and said it was his opinion or speculation.   Which any of us could have done and have done.

Read his previous report. Then look at what he said today. He was correct.

Was thinking the same

I agree with ESP

Hurts had nothing to do with Wentz, feeling threatened by the #53 pick? Come on. After watching McNown limp through the Seattle game?

Pederson and Wentz is a bad combo, Pederson just doesn't seem to understand scheming outside the RPO. And Wentz isn't a RPO QB.

As far as weapons, if you get a good WR coach, I don't see why Reagor, Watkins, Hightower, Fulgham and Ward can't become a decent group, I'd like to see JJAW tried at H-back. You can add more talent, but this group has enough athleticism to be coached up. This year was a cluster due to COVID, with a young group you want lots of mini-camp work and exhibition game reps. With a full off-season, they should take some big steps. They're not starting from ground zero, like the end of 2019 when it was JJAW, Ward, Burnett, Davis, Perkins at WR.

The OL should be much improved, add a RB to go with Sanders and you have a pretty good offense.

With Schwartz gone, it's time to completely rebuild the defense around a new DC, it can't be worse than this season, when they couldn't stop a legitimate NFL QB. Basically you need to rebuild the secondary, at least you have a group of young LBs (when you have that, one addition can be a big boost, the secondary needs major surgery).

The cap problems are an opportunity in that it forces you to go with young players and rebuild b/c you can't afford free agents.

It's hard to know. But, I felt that was all Howie and Doug had to put on a supportive face.  I think Howie wanted to stick it to Dallas after he couldn't move up for Lamb. Dallas was gloating and laughing when they drafted Lamb and I would bet Howie called them to try to trade. Then, Howie celebrated the Hurts pick like he won the Super Bowl. So, I think in his mind he thought it was payback because I think he felt Dallas wanted Hurts.  I think we liked Hurts, but I would bet Dallas getting Lamb influenced Howie to make an impulsive decision.

I wonder where Jim Schwartz ranks among all-time coordinators. I have to think he could be considered among the top 3 all-time even if he never fielded a top defense of all-time.  In no particular order, I think it’s safe to say the Super Bowl era top 5 coordinators are:

Marion Campbell

Bud Carson

Jim Johnson

Jim Schwartz

Jeff Fisher/Buddy Ryan

I think there’s no question that Carson headed up the best all-time unit of course it had some of the best talent the team has had on the defense.  For long term success, Campbell, Johnson and Schwartz had the longest tenure with Johnson heading those 3.  Of course only one helped the team win a Super Bowl.  Schwartz does deserve credit for ultimately having a scheme that bent a lot but didn’t break too much and created a key turnover to seal a win. It’s not an easy choice.

Depends on who we get as an OC and if he is given play calling duties.

It’s like each franchise in Philly has to take turns.  It’s the Eagles turn to have a joke of a Front Office.  Phillies are pissed.   They lost their crown.

I think this issue with Howie has always been there, but over time it got bigger and bigger. Now with the cap issues and poor drafts, the issue has finally reached the crisis point.

I remember seeing how happy Doug was to land Hurts in the draft.  Seemed genuinely excited.

In any case, it may be a good thing to get Wentz and his contract out the door.  If he isn't the guy and doesn't want to be, then is it time to cut bait.  It is much easier to win in today's NFL with a QB on a rookie contract, especially considering the cap hell the Eagles are in.  Hurts may not be the long term answer but he can help to get this team back to being competitive quickly.

Imagine being Wentz and seeing Dallas trade for Cooper, Arizona getting Hopkins, and Diggs going to Buffalo. Those teams went out of their way to help their young QB's. And then your team goes and takes a QB in the 2nd during a loaded draft at Reciever. Last off season felt like a total vote of no confidence in Wentz. It does not surprise me he's lost faith in this organization when they refused to build around him.

Great points. They’ve done zero to help Wentz out. Zero.

I chose this name to update KolbFan4 for the new board, but if Wentz can’t handle a bad year that forced Doug to bench him, then he is never going to be the franchise guy here. That won’t fly in Philly.

Stop jinxing the QB Factory

I agree.  I would like to see everyone go at this point.  But to say "I don’t want someone on the team who doesn’t want to be here” is kinda of curious.  I think we have much bigger problems.  Like how it has gotten to this point.

I said if true regarding this report. I think it's obvious there's something going on between him and Doug. Part of it I believe is Doug wanted Foles over Wentz. Playcalling as been different then it was when Wentz took the league by storm. Even with Hurts the last 3 weeks playcalling has been different at least in the first half of games. Lurie handled this situation poorly
