Eagles 33, Bengals 24

It’s somewhat hard to say who the leaders are in the locker room right now but, whoever it is, this would be a good time to say some inspirational things

I don’t think either team will play very well, but the Eagles will make a few more plays when it counts.  Who knows, maybe the defense could even get a takeaway??

If the Eagles don’t win next Sunday it could be awhile before I pick them again.

Bengals start as +6.5 dogs in the UK! I'm all over that.

Mack hollins stretch last year is close. He played like 3-4 games with more snaps and had no production. But it’s pretty close. They both stink.

He lined up well though.

I'm down on Doug. Outside of Carson and Sanders, has any Doug era draft pick developed and improved as a player?

Regression or no.development at all seems to be this teams calling card.  Some guys have been good early but regress.  Maddox is one of those.  Many here say Carson with his start to this season.

I think there is enough data to.suggest this coaching staff doesn't know how to make players better.  Doug talks a lot about "coaching them up..."  He is failing miserably.

Granted, easier said than done as I can only think of a few teams that do it well;

Baltimore, Seattle, NE, KC, NO.

Nonetheless it feels like outside of a few exceptions, the Eagles are just a team where players get worse, not better.

Is that on Doug or the positional coaches? I guess the answer is both and Doug needs to answer to that.

Well guys, it looks bleak right now but they will bounce back. After last week we just weren't ready for the Rams yet.

I feel like we should just retire the DK stuff. Obviously he got knocked because of the medicals.

Terry may be better than both and he went in the third round.

Unfortunately, that’s not too encouraging with the Niners, Steelers and Ravens all to follow Cincy, who is a team we historically struggle against as is.

That last line shows that the ones preceding it are incorrect. Reagor didn’t have to be the pick at all. Howie could have gone in a number of different directions: boring lineman pick, infuriating college production WR pick, trade back, etc. That’s not what he did.

Saying it’s "overcompensating” is perplexing to me. We all sat here last season bemoaning our lack of speed at WR. Howie rightly identified that weakness and brought in 4 players to change it. If he only brings in Reagor, and Reagor gets hurt, we’d be complaining he didn’t do enough. We both wanted team speed. You said if yourself — the NFL is a track meet. So Howie got some track stars, and you denigrate that? Doesn’t make any sense, man.

I wasn’t a fan of the Reagor pick at all. Made that very much known in our old board. Though I do think he can play a bit and needs a creative coordinator to help maximize what he can do. But i just don’t see him as some #1 or dominating presence. Think he can be a good speed option out of the slot and useful with some creative plays.

Oh "now" there's SIXTY , count them 60 extra pages of posts overnight.

My ONLY Message for the week, born and bred, pray it will be heard but doubt it highly.

"Wentz" for the first time in his career is in a funk.  Give the kid time to work his way out of it.

You're not Dead yet.  Waste of Breath and keystrokes.  Hidden cameras everywhere.

So far I picked up Alpha Grand for week 3 scores.

Result so far

week 1 Greend honorable mentions eagleseagles, jwill, eaglesphan1986

week2 cthulhu honorable mentions: Greend, bacarty, alpha grand

What role do you think Howie had in the draft then? Do you honestly believe he only was a figurehead? Do you not think he sat in on meetings all year long and watched tape of all the players on their board?

You’re being obtuse. Howie wasn’t just sitting there asking Joe who he should write down on the card.

He was.  In fact you posted an article where players were equal on their board and he left it to a battle between the coordinator and position coaches.

That's not him making choices.  He's just turning in the cards.  It was Joe Douglas draft ever since chip left and Douglas was hired.

He left for a promotion to full personnel control, which he didn’t have under Howie, and a massive SIX YEAR $18M contract which is unheard of for a GM.  That’s why he’s not here.  He didn’t get fired.

And why do you think we didn't give him full control? He sucks.

If Joe set the board but Howie made the picks, then it very well could be Howie responsible for bad picks.  We actually don’t know if the boards were bad, if the execution during the drafts was bad, or both.

If his board was used and the picks were bad,  then his board was bad.

It was a massive turn around to expect to beat the rams after our week 1 performance.

The offense did look way improved aside from Wentz's inaccuracy.  I take it as a positive.

Heading in to what's almost just a practice week against the Bengals. Should be able to get some stuff fixed before meeting a really banged up 9ers team.

We have a chance to turn it around in these next 2 weeks.

If we somehow lose to the Bengals though....

'practice week against the Bengals', last I looked our records are identical and they lost two games by one score while we were nowhere near.

Just a thought. Maybe getting laid regularly doesn't agree with Wentz.

This Eagles roster is not that bad. It's objectively still above-average. That's really worth repeating. If Wentz is playing average football, we're at least 1-1 and still possibly 2-0. So if we start out say 1-5, we have interesting assets to sell at the trade deadline.

When you have bottom 10 QB play, even above-average roster talent looks bad. Look at the Bears; they barely won both games and required Swift to drop a TD.

If Wentz plays better, we can still make the playoffs. Of course, I'm very skeptical of this. There's something seriously wrong (mechanics, coaching, trust, etc.)

You GET up. Shake yourself off.

And do what you need to do THIS week.

Get a win. Keep doing that and let everybody else do the countin'

If Wentz plays a great game, maybe we keep up with the Rams

but our defense is one of the worst units in the league.  I think the Rams got disinterested more than the Eagles figures anything out.  As soon as the Rams needed to score, they did, and easily

Im confident Wentz will play better, but there’s not much that can be done on defense.  The LBs and secondary are horrible

It seems like coaching is forcing Wentz to stay in the pocket, likely to preserve his health and that’s not the qb Wentz is or ever has been

Howie allowed that pick to be an open discussion/debate while on the clock, which is pretty ridiculous considering they played the same position. Those decisions should be sorted out predraft..

Howie deferring to others on that one pick simply meant he didn’t feel strongly between the two players. If Howie loved one over the other there wouldn’t have been a dialogue.

Do you believe Howie watched tape of all the guys we drafted? If he believed those players sucked, do you believe he would have picked them?
